Are PVE servers bad?

If I wave at an Alliance while questing, and they /wave back. All is well, we’re both trying to get our thing done. If I /wave, and I don’t get a /wave in return?

IT. IS. ON.

(Also rules of engagement are off the table if we’re competing for quest mobs. Sorry.)

After the population starts to have a lot of 60’s world PvP is basically capped players corpse camping lowbies in STV. I don’t have time for that these days but if you’re into it I have good news! There are servers for that.
Not sure why the people on those servers are so worried about what the pve servers are doing but some people just have a hard time being happy.

You… did see all the stuff I said about being hampered by civilian leadership, right? That isn’t the military’s fault. That is civilians not being willing to allow the military to go in and do what it does best: slaughter everyone in their way as they achieve an objective. Try running a race while dragging a piano, and tell me how ‘competent’ you look.

The civilian leadership was unwilling to risk the political backlash at home and abroad of doing what it took to destroy the Taliban, in no small part because people would have started talking about war crimes and the like once you start nuking an entire country, or using chemical and biological weapons to kill off the fighters and those supporting them. The country was not willing to engage in total war to deal with the situation, so the military was faced with doing something it was not designed to do.

Furthermore, if you knew anything about military history, you would know that the only way to root out and destroy an entrenched guerrilla force with the support of the local populace is to destroy the local populace, giving the guerrillas no support, and nowhere to hide, so they can be hunted down and destroyed. This isn’t just true today, but down through the ages.

You must have a very low tolerance then. If it were that much of a problem no one would play on pvp servers.

I get what Isz is saying. I don’t think anyone is “afraid” when playing a video game. It’s a video game…

Some people just want to experience the PVE side of the game. They just want to quest, gather herbs/ore, do dungeon/raids without some neckbeard coming along, 40 levels above you, camping your corpse while thinking to himself “God, I’m good at this game.”

Me, I love PVP servers. I know the types of things that can happen too but it’s all worth it for those epic world vanilla world raids that are like nothing else. Nobody flying away, no gimmicks. Just good old fashioned large groups of people clashing. No real reward for doing so, just fun.

Carebear here.
Since i won at life making 6 figures, colombian wife, 2 kids, house, and a growing 401k as well as multiple rental properties…

If i want real pvp ill CoD. Cmon. Its wow. you press 2 buttons. Lets not make classic wow an e-sport…

oh wait retail

whole point is who cares what others think?

This isn’t a war game though, it’s a MMORPG and one that you can argue has a huge focus on PvE. And some people may just want to fight other players in BGs or whatever, so if that’s fine for them what does that matter to anyone else ?

Literally has “war” in the name of the game

It has been that way before it was an MMO. The original “Warcraft” was just a Orc vs Humans RTS.

It would have been silly to change the name when making it into an MMO.

I’m not sure what your point is. It’s a game about war regardless of the genre of the game… My post was in response of Uthic’s post.

I know what your post was in response to. We’re able to scroll up and read prior posts.

Your comment was that “it has the word war in it.” Can’t take that so literally anymore.

I gave up waiting for queue times on the PvP server, over 700 minute wait and would fluctuate. The Normal server had no wait times and I played without delay the day classic launched. I still can’t get I to my PvP server with my reserved names as it’s always full…

So call me what ever you want, at least I’m logged in without queue and playing.

Notice it’s the PvPers driving the argument here, and who “can’t understand” why anyone else would want to play a game according to its design, or a different way to them. Notice also how they attach a hierarchy to the choice, and elevate their choice over that of others. Remind you of anything?

It’s just consistent toxicity and juvenile chest thumping with most PvPers. It speaks volumes.

He said “this isn’t a war game” and I’m pointing out that it literally is a war game. What are you having a problem with, exactly? You are really confusing.

He’s saying this isn’t a war game. You’re saying “it has war in the title.”

You’re taking the title way to literally and you’re telling me that I’m the one confused?

No, I didn’t say you are confused, I said you are confusing. But yes, Warcraft is a franchise about war and all the games are also about war.

Just from a lore perspective. If they were meant to be 100% war, there would be no PVE servers.

I said there’s nothing wrong with that either earlier. PVP is not for everyone and some don’t want to be bothered. Some get more emotional than others and have no desire to be around the PVP aspect at all.

That being said when I said fear I dont mean people are literally being afraid. I mean it in a sense of how other games give that emotion of being exposed. Some just don’t like that feeling.

I don’t care about this stupid pve vs pvp argument, my only point is that the game is about war. Even in PvE servers, it still is.

People take sides and join factions. Horde Vs. Alliance, Steelers vs. Bengals, Football vs. Rugby, blah blah blah.

The only thing bad is letting someone else hamper your enjoyment of what you like.

I play PvE because I don’t care for gankers and griefers. Not to say that PvP is nothing but… but there is a lot of it on PvP servers… and I choose to not roll there for that reason.

There are enough things in Azeroth to keep me thoroughly immersed and entertained. Yeah, there are things said about one or the other… but once I matured, I realized that words of strangers had no sway over me or my life.
