Are PVE servers bad?

The beginning of this thread starts with PvE players get their lunch packed by their mommies.

Removes an element of danger, a very big element of it. This results in a much much easier playing experience. I have played both server types, and while I can see the appeal of someone not wanting to worry about PvP, I find PvP servers much more thrilling. You will kill, you will be killed, you will encounter fair fights, you will encounter unfair fights, the variables are endless, and will result in some amazing memories. Most memorable parts of the game for me are world PvP encounters.

and when they add HK, it will be punished with a dishonorable kill.

Only effects lowbie NPCs. People can still kill grey players without having to worry. I am going to assume this was to avoid people sabotaging someoneā€™s HKs by running a low level in to their AoE or such.

PvE servers are great, I am actually thinking of rolling an alt on one to enjoy a different experience because I am currently on a PvP server. I think people like PvE servers because it is more relaxing due to not having to worry about getting ganked. If you do not want to deal with the fact that most PvP servers will be Horde dominated and you like being Alliance, PvE servers are perfect. I am noticing on the server that I am on right now that there is a huge disparity in the faction populations so it actually makes the PvP not fun because you always get out numbered by the Horde and it is pretty boring.

Pvp servers are definitely horde dominated. Rolling on a PvE can be relaxing for sure, if thatā€™s what youā€™re looking for. I have a lot of goals for classic, and honestly, I did the pvp server thing 15 years ago and itā€™s just an annoyance delaying my goals now, not something fun and exciting.

OP, you wanted to know if PvE servers are bad, because some pvp players do say disparaging things because in their minds thatā€™s what real wow is.

The fact is, Classic WoW is different to each person, pvp or PvE, play what is fun to you, what keeps you wanting more, and what ever aspect you are looking forward to in the future, whether it be on a PvE or PvP server.

Mostly itā€™s anger that anyone can be happy not griefing other people. These are a huge portion of the people who find Classic to be everything Retail isnā€™t. What they are is simply unhappy people who find their own self-worth tied to their ability to move pixels on a screen better than the player they are trying to kill.

I just read through the thread after giving the answer to OPs question, and dayum is there some triggered people. If you think every PvP server player is some sadistic insecure mustache-twirling villain who gets off to killing low levels, while PvE server players a virtuous caring mature people, then you have a horrifically warped sense of reality.

I can respect those who have a general ā€œItā€™s not for me.ā€ attitude, but the ones I earlier described, the holier than thou players feeling they are above the sadistic mustache-twirling villains, what on earth is going through your head that made you reach those conclusions?

Are you sure? I remember it affecting lowbies, but maybe I am remembering wrong. Ahh, I am remembering wrong apparently. Whatever. Itā€™s literally dishonorable to kill someone who has no chance of beating you.

Because theyā€™re trolls. Different people enjoy different aspects of the game.

They have been called carebears, relentlessly by pvp frothers, and will, into eternity?

Observations after 10+ years on PvP servers. Obviously itā€™s not everybody or even statistically most people, but it feels like it. Itā€™s sad consistently people wonā€™t attack if thereā€™s a chance they wonā€™t win, but attack when they outlevel you or have people with them. Itā€™s pure cowardice.

And PvPers have been relentlessly called sadistic monsters, among other things, so what came first? The chicken or the egg?

My experiences are completely different. I have seen lots of match ups, I myself have a red is dead policy and will attack people who outlevel/outgear me to see if I can take them.

In this thread?

If you think this thread started this conflict than you are 15 years late.

First response: ā€œPvE is for players who still get lunches packed by their mothersā€

The next three were equally as frothy.

That hasnā€™t been my experience. In many cases, even when people are guaranteed to win, they wonā€™t attack. Normally, they are on their way to something, and if you donā€™t bother them, they wonā€™t bother you. Iā€™d say only about 1/5 of people attack me, and maybe 1/3 if they grossly outnumber me or are far more powerful. Most people donā€™t really bother me.

Now, if people are waiting around outside an instance, you can expect to have a fight on your hands.

Itā€™s not PVPers that anyone has an issue with. PVP is an interesting aspect of the game. Itā€™s those who gank lowbies and stuff for selfish reasons. If some level 60 guy camps a level 30 dude for an hour, there isnā€™t really anything honorable or cool about what he is doing. Heā€™s a troll.

When there are large scale PVP battles or organized BGs/duels, that stuff can be very fun.

Are you new? PvPers continually attack and ridicule PvE players like angsty little middle schoolers, and always have. The opposite only ever happens in response to the attacks (just look at the premise of this thread, and the responses). Theyā€™re also always trying to bait PvEers to come over to PvP so they actually have people to pick on.

All of you - with rare exception - are over-competitive, nasty, vindictive miscreants and sociopaths. And itā€™s been this way in every game since PvP was a thing.

Iā€™m glad for the PvP servers because they are natural filters that keep the majority of you away from the rest of us.

I can honestly say in my entire time on a PVP server, I do not recall PVP players being referred to as anything. I only see it from PVP -> PVE players. Just like Diablo 3. I only ever hear hardcore players refer to non-hardcore as derogatory things.

Iā€™m not saying there are not PVE players who do not say things but Iā€™ve posted on general and pvp forums since the game started and I maybe recall 1 time thatā€™s happened and Iā€™m pretty sure it was someone who got sick of being taunted by someā€¦ moustache twirling person.

Itā€™s just chauvinism. ā€œMy dad can beat up your dad!ā€ kind of thing.

Nope itā€™s your toxic attitude that has made me roll PvE, I wasnā€™t going to deal with the PvP crapshow again because of toxic epeeners who can only get kills by one shotting lowbies.

My observation with campers is itā€™s usually because the person they are camping did something that really ticked them off. I had an encounter like this today with a 60 warlock. I was on my shaman (42) and looted the STV arena chest despite him attempting to. Needless to say he was quite peeved as he spent 30-60 minutes following me around and killing me. Just about every other case I have seen has a similar story. Another example I encountered was when a low level killed a rare spawn a max level hunter was trying to tame. You get the idea, people running out and camping for pleasure is exceptionally rare, because itā€™s a waste of time.
