Are PVE servers bad?

…perversion of your gaming experience.

Which is totally cool by me, but it isn’t for everybody.

TBH PVP servers are an obsolete system. Warmode or PVP flagging in PVE make a lot more sense. PVP servers are basically there to enable griefing. Even if you want that sense of danger, having warmode achieves this. The fact that retail had to add an incentive for warmode is saying a lot. Generally, PVP is fun only in even skirmishes or large scale combat. Ganking lowbies is a net negative for everyone. The person ganking gains a loss of time and efficiency in exchange for some sadistic pleasure, I suppose. The person ganked loses his time and is made frustrated and upset. Nobody is really much better off. The ganker could have done something else to bring himself joy.

It is very telling about the types of people who gank lowbies. There are others who prefer to help lowbies of other factions, even on pvp servers.

But OFC, these people are labeled carebears. Heaven forbid someone care about other peoples’ game experience.

It’s funny that people think this totally PvE game is somehow PvP. They’ll get bored and move on just like they did in the past and the rest of us will still be here.

I actually agree with a lot of this.

I value my time and want to be able to get the things I care about in the game done without being interrupted by players from the other faction. World PVP isn’t something I care about. That’s why I play on a PVE server.

When I have the itch for PVP, I join an instanced battleground where the playing field is level and where everyone knows what to expect or just go play another video game that is designed for PVP exclusively.

Lol are the carebears thinking that I am toxic? Just showing you the errors of your ways.

You seriously get a better game experience and less toxicity on a PvP server.

You totally convinced me with this flawless logic and clearly presented evidence. Good job.

Anyway, you don’t pay for my 15$.

That’s funny because the best guild in vanilla (Nihilum) was on a PVE realm. PVE players had a huge advantage in not having to deal with any annoyances. There were plenty of good PVP server guilds, but it generally made things more difficult and tedious.

BTW, you could always flag if you wanted that sense of danger.

He’s clearly trolling or just another pvp jack-hole trying to convince noobs for more bodies to kill. It’s better or ignore them, especially considering he can never camp our “care bear” selves. So sad for him.

What is funny is you don’t see PVE players demanding shutdown of PVP servers. You don’t see them talking smack to PVE players, calling them cowards, etc. You just see PVP players doing it to PVE. If you like to gank people, you do you. Just don’t cry and scream for your friends when people group and camp you for 30 mins.

There is nothing inherently great about PVP servers. Leveling is slightly harder only because it is more time consuming. That’s it. It doesn’t mean you are a better player or have more e-cred.

Does it trigger you that I /wave to every horde I see on my server? That I’ve helped many in danger? That in fact, only a few days ago, a group of horde actually helped my crew escape death while trying to get to SFK instead of murdering us and we all saluted them? Does that hurt your snowflake insides that we didn’t experience the game the way you think we should have? Because we all chose PvE?

It doesn’t trigger him. He’s so over the top that he can only be a troll.

I am pretty sure he’s a troll lol

I did find it odd every time I saw a demand on this forum of PvE servers getting shut down in favor of more pvp servers. Is this from the new pserver community or what? Because we have plenty of high, even full, servers, so i don’t understand this logic.

It’s just chauvinism. Vanilla seems to attract that mindset --perhaps due to all the gatekeeping and special snowflake status stuff in the game.

Also, PVP servers will inevitably evolve long term into most players being “cautious carebears” aka tit for tat with forgiveness. The reason is this is the evolutionarily stable strategy for this situation.

People complain, but long term, the result on PVP realms is to have them settle into a large faction bias one way or another or have players adopt tit for tat with forgiveness. On an even server, tit for tat with forgiveness happens, and on a biased server, you will see the majority faction attack indiscriminately and the minority faction basically quit the game.

I don’t think this chauvinism or gratification to be sustainable. So in short, yes, I agreed with you Monsterskill.

You guys are absurd lol.

You talk about how toxic the PVP server environment is but you just shxt talked for a page and half about it while trying to claim the moral high ground.

You’re cool.

Ganking lowbies is the moral low ground. Period. There is nothing great about it, and when they add HK, it will be punished with a dishonorable kill.
