Show me the race that only allows melee specs, OP.
But they could be paladins, some of the issue then was the only “tanks” in most minds were warriors, even though paladins and druids had tank specs.
@op and others who agree with op - The real question you should be asking is “Why can’t evoker fit all roles?”. It would be fun for everyone and it just makes sense. Your just making excuses for Blizzard to be lazy.
@blizz - Please add a tank and/or melee dps spec because it would be perfect for a lot of player’s play style, it makes perfect sense for a dragon to be in melee range, you already have a base for it, and because it would be fun. Everyone should be allowed to play the way they want if it makes sense lore wise. They are dragons after all…
No I think the real question is “Why do we need another melee class when the last three have all been melee?”
Better yet, “Why are people acting like something being a particular class-type means they are incapable of playing said class?”
No I’m just thinking about the migraine that would occur if Blizzard added a third spec because the game already has balancing issues as it is.
They could, for sure. I know many people are using the “tank” spec as a valid argument, and I agree. Introducing a new Race that doesn’t have access to one pillar of the MMO trinity is a bad Idea.
I was simply adding further support by reminding players of the last time Blizzard cut a race out of just a single class that was considered a “core” class and they had to change it two expansions later.
Tera did this same strategy and we know how well Tera is doing today. At least Tera was honest about why they did it, the cost of paying programmers to build animations for every race was too expensive for them. Blizzard continues to destroy our trust by build false narratives like “dragons are just naturally casters.” Meanwhile the player base (both the RP’s and the Number Bro’s) are like wait, if I main melee/tank I don’t get to engage with at least one of the biggest perks of this next expansion? Bad design at best, Lazy at worst.
If I main a tank, and plan on spending the majority of my time as a tank, Blizzard has now unintentionally lowered the value of what I spend on the game.
Many guilds, raid teams, and M+ teams are well established. Blizzard’s choice is excluding at least a third (tanks) of players from new features, and worse about half of players (when u include players that prefer melee to ranged.)
It’s not that Dracthyr shouldn’t be Evokers, or that Evokers can’t be a legendary class. (though with the comparisons to MoP, I’d rather see something closer to the monk/Pandarin roll out,) With DK’s every existing race at the time could be one, and with DH every NE or BE could be other classes. Dracthyr/Evoker feels more like a lazy way to smuggle in a new race/hero class without the thought of previous versions.)
I’ve yet to hear a compelling argument why this is good from both a player perspective or from a business and financial perspective. Unless you take into costs of production… but then is the cheap option (new race gets one class) worth the amount of players done with the game?
The Drakonids are ready to step up to the plate!
It’s a video game, people want to play what they think is fun. Not exactly hard to understand.
They have 3 other classes that have been added that they can play, then.
Sounds like a you problem, then.
You guys still can’t comprehend that it’s a race issue, not a class one. It’s embarrassing at this point that we have to keep explaining the difference to people who should at least be teenagers and able to grasp the concept.
I care about it being a hero class. Add a ranged spec to DK and DH, then we can talk. Until then, keep evokers ranged only.
This happens with every single new class/race, though.
What makes you special?
Keep your precious hero class, Blizz should have just let Drakthyr be warriors, mage, rogue, shaman too.
We know Evokers are the best of the best Drakthyr, it makes sense that we’d have the choice to be the best of the rest too.
“Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?”
“I made you, you made me first.”
Lol.
Obviously this post is semi-bait but the sad thing is some people mistakenly buy into the idea that uncoupling elements that Warlocks stole and giving them back to their proper classes is somehow a sin. Lock should never have had Death Coil, Lock should never have had Meta, etc.
For real. You can’t add the Obsidian Warders like that and not less us play as them - such a tease.
And once again WoW’s “community” based philosophy reveals itself. If I want to be a successful business, and i intentionally cut out a third to a half of potential customers due to lazy design, then it’s not a me problem, it’s a community problem.
If the argument is that “castors” haven’t gotten any special “hero” class then please show me where DH and DK got a unique Race all to themselves? Especially one that is as iconic as a dragon race…. I’ll be here waiting…
Who is this in response to?
Why are you using “class/race” in this manor as if they are the same thing in WoW?
When has a class been added that was limited to 1 Race?
When was there a Race added that was limited to 1 class?
I mean. Demon Hunters?
I am saying there have always been restrictions on a personal playstyle that may make new races or classes not fit within that playstyle, therefor “devaluing” the expansion.
This isn’t new.
If you only play a tank, so a new race or class that can’t be a tank leaves you out.
If someone only plays zandalari, a new race leaves them out. A new class that can’t be a zanadalari leaves them out.
If a person limits themselves to only a portion of the game, then they must accept that some stuff won’t be for them.
I have no feet in the boat when it comes to the evoker. I’ll probably play my mage again like I have since 2005. That said, I believe Blizzard purposefully avoided a melee or tank spec because of all the past classes being melee/tanks.
When has ranged been given a new class before now?
DK? Nope
Monk? Nope
Demon Hunter? Nope.
Ranged hasnt had a new class since the game started. Stop being so selfish.
Because, some people actually love the Dracthyr race and don’t want to be pigeonholed into a caster? Why is this hard to understand?
I’m guessing it’s because they can only be evoker. I’m sure there those who love tanking but also wanting to be the new dragon race at the same time. Which I understand because I wish kul tiran paladins were a thing but all in all, it is what it is.
P.S. Personally, should have given them at least warrior as another class choice. But hey, I’ll probably not play evoker like I have with demon hunter.
