Are batttlegrounds actualy dead?

I started playing around mid WotLK… I have never, seen… PVP chat so toxic… It’s like mind numbing how over it people are… Totally raging… “Time to switch games”, “BLANK this game” etc etc unsubbing left and right… This is exacerbated by the fact that the ally premades are now getting people onto the horde teams for the same games for additional cheating… there’s always 1 or 2 now and they don’t even try to hide that fact at all taunting the horde team as its getting annihilated by the premade lol’ing. Its just absolutely warped… Its so warped, I don’t even know what to compare it too and have never seen anything like it in a video game before; its like uncharted territory of warped-ness. Maybe the epic ally premade teams are all living in the same mental institution and thats how they came together… a cadre of taunting, psychopaths with serious mommy issues.

See, a premade is real easy in this desperate part of WoW, turns you from hunted into hunter (yeah), you go an’ hunt somebody down, wait a minute, ah, somebody said fair warning, Lord, Lord, strike that poor boy down

Sometimes the win traders dont verbally berate ppl, they just walk around with most of their gear unequiped in a BGB.

i had a ebg av a few weaks ago when enemy team was avm mesocringey and on my teem a mage lusted and icewall half of us in starting area when gatez opened

coinsidence?

30 to 40 mins sometimes upto 50 mins for BG nowdays. All I want to do is gear up my alts and collect some mogs but seem impossible right now.

The player base is also nearly halved of what the game was in it’s prime and it’s spread out across far too many servers to really be viable. I’ve said several times that blizzard should condense servers down to allow a larger player base exposure to each other. I feel like they hold on to the idea that these old accounts could return(I came back off of a 12 year hiatus) but I played with 14 other people regularly and none of them plan on coming back. They need to condense.

Servers don’t really matter anymore though, and even less so in the next expansion. All group content other than Mythic raids before the HoF fills can be done x-server, all queued content pulls from the entire region, you can trade x-server now and in TWW you will have x-server guilds. Other than like, getting stuff crafted or the amount of people standing around AFK in hubs, there will really be no difference in what server you play on.

I played a lot in S1 and some in S2 then I quit just before S3. Came back about three weeks ago. In S1-S2, I would win most Random BGs in the evenings on weeknights (I’m Horde). Excluding Gilneas of course where the Alliance advantage means they almost always win. Then come the weekend, I would almost never win them. As for EBGs, I feel like I had a greater than 50% win rate while winning most of the AVs and IoCs. Of course winning approx 50% of the Wintergrasps when I was on D.

Now, I am losing so many randoms and Epics I only Q for Blitz. Epics are dominated by Alliance excluding AV.

Not sure what happened in the past few months. Was it faction changes to all the better racials which are mostly alliance now? Is it me? I don’t think it’s me. Especially when it’s OBVIOUS a lot of people have no clue wtf they’re supposed to be doing in each BG, let alone how to play their characters.

I see this a lot with horde now. They’ll engage fights 1v4 and get totally destroyed. Horde healers play too far up, don’t use CC, can’t seem to get on task with the rest of the group, and no one assists them when they’re getting focused. Then after a while of doing this they’ll just kind of stop/afk and we’ll win by a massive margin. There’s a few BGs where this isn’t the case but the pvp lvls on those guys are sub 400 and they’ll rock us but those are the exceptions. I also run in to this a lot when I’m in a group with mostly horde mains in Blitz. They’re ultra silent and kind of “every man/orc/cow for themselves” and they get roflstomped. I stopped queueing as a healer because of that.

Totally right. I also have been seeing a lot lately… take Blitz EotS as an example. I say in the starting lobby “some go to each base and take both bases. Don’t worry about the flag.” We still have 3-4 people go straight to the middle. Hilariously, a couple times now I’ve seen ZERO players from the other team go middle and these drones mid don’t understand. We lose both bases and they don’t know what to do with the flag.

People try to go to the deactivated bases having no clue how it works. I’ve suggested many times that simple/basic rules and objectives of each BG should be added via text in the loading screens. But that would make way too much sense.

the popularity of buying a 70 boost is partly to blame for the que time in bgs under max level. the xp gains are also a joke compared to running random dungeons while leveling.
maybe add back in xp locked toons to help boost numbers.
the que times at 70 seem fine as long as you don’t specific que BUT there only seems to be 3-4 epic bgs running at the same time during peak hours which means something………

I leave because I know some of the names. I can’t be bothered with them, even if I’m on their side.

They wouldn’t read it, anyway. Wow takes research to get right. People argue that that’s the reason why the game isn’t successful anymore but every game I’ve seen so far it takes a little bit of research to get right. I’ve watched horde healers in Kotmogu holding the orb and getting about crushed complaining saying “you’re not giving any support!” While being on the bottom in the chart in terms of damage and healing done and everyone that’s “supposed” to be defending them dying around them. Then getting angry when we explain to them they are, in fact, the support they’re complaining they don’t have.

I have the opposite experience. Epics are dominated by Horde Ashran, WG, AV mainly. I mean let’s face it Blizzard changed AV because of Horde tears as they never won it when played properly back in the day.

AV was the only BG Alliance dominated at one time.

You aren’t wrong in the sense that they won’t read it. A lot of players are so oblivious, they don’t even seem to see chat when you repeatedly ask them to buff or make a table etc. How can they be expected to spend a few minutes reading objectives/strategies of BGs.

My only point of contention would be that it’s very low effort for Blizz to add the tutorials, and if even just 10% of the players see it, that would be an improvement. A majority of players (especially in EBGs), just follow the herd anyway out of the gate toward RoC/Hangar/etc. They’re just completely lost after they die or get split up from the group.

I’d never disagree with the effort by Blizzard. It couldn’t be any worse, really.

EotS is the absolute worst Blitz map for people not knowing what to do. The pre-game chat in my last EotS Blitz:

“tf is the strat in this one, it seems to be random whether I win or lose”

“lol I don’t know”

So I made the suggestion that two bases > flag to start, one guy confirms “okay” and then he runs off to a yellow base and sits there.

With epics it’s not a faction thing. It’s whichever side has the premade community.
