Appeal Regarding Wrongful Account Ban and Request for Review

I am writing on behalf of my friend, whose account has been unjustly banned. Due to their inability to access the game’s forum, I am submitting this appeal on their behalf.

Several months ago, my friend’s account was banned as part of a guild-wide ban, even though they were rarely active at the time. A few weeks ago, after further investigation, my own account was unbanned, and I was informed that no violations had been found. I also received a compensation of three months of game time, for which I am grateful. However, my friend’s account remains banned to this day.

Recently, my friend created a new account and used the Recruit-A-Friend feature to join me in the game. Unfortunately, that new account has now also been banned, with the reason cited as “RMT (Real Money Trade).” We are both extremely confused and frustrated by this decision, as my friend has never engaged in any RMT or any other actions that violate the game’s rules. Their in-game activities are limited to running dungeons, completing quests, gathering herbs, and selling potions—standard, rule-abiding gameplay.

This ban has caused significant distress and frustration. While I appreciate the resolution of my own case, it is deeply upsetting that my friend remains unable to enjoy the game, especially after we had recently begun playing together again. All my friend wants is to relax and enjoy some time in Azeroth after work, but now they are completely unable to play due to the bans on all of their accounts.

I kindly request that your team re-examine my friend’s account and investigate whether there was a mistake in the banning process. We are willing to provide any additional information that may assist in this review. As long-time loyal players of World of Warcraft, we hope that Blizzard will uphold its principles of fairness and justice, and restore my friend’s access to the game.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We look forward to your response and resolution.

The following is my friend’s own statement:

I don’t understand what happened this time.
Couple months ago my wow2 and wow3 account are banned, and after many communications the penalty was not lifted. I was sad but I’ve forgo the case as the whole guild was banned due to GDKP I guess.

I was contacted by one of my friend he wants me to come back to retail and play m+ with him and he recruit me.

What’s going wrong this time??? For “This account was closed because it was involved, either directly or indirectly, with the unauthorized exchange of in-game property for “real-world” currency.”

I purchased the expansion, “ding” a shammy to 70, main storyline to 80, do some heroic dungeons and then mythic plus, it’s not even a week.

I think I did not? What i exchanged?? I don’t understand what’s going wrong with your system.

This is not a method by which one may make an appeal. One can only make an appeal through the ticket system, which it sounds like your friend has already created. If it was you who created the ticket, I would encourage your friend to submit one instead. Otherwise, all they can do is wait for a fresh pair of eyes to re-evaluate. Posting here won’t speed up or bypass things

Only your friend can appeal.

It’s great that you want to help, but you can’t.

Unfortunately, my account was lifted several months after I got misbanned. it led to us all missing the last season of shadowland, even though we are innocent. and for middle-aged people, “time is money”. we are willing to do our best and try whatever we can to make it.

i have to do my best, hopefully a gm can see this.

There are no GMs on the forums.

I mean, I can understand that. But Blizz will only discuss with your friend who owns the account, not 3rd parties, and they won’t discuss it on the forums. It’s up to the GMs to review and overturn, and they go by the tickets. They are not parties to this forum, as Vaeana said, only our SFAs check in and GMs are a different role.

The only way to appeal an account action is by your friend via a ticket.

They do t take third party appeals nor do they take appeals in places where it will never be seen by a GM.

yes, but that’s why i post the ticket#. at least they can check…

tyvm, totally understand. but I know once that there was a gm answered here and he solved it…

The thing is, given the fact this is a 3rd party, they can’t say much. THe blues here ain’t GMs and can’t handle tickets. All they could do, if your friend could post, was say what they see, generally what the GMs had found (nothing like apps, time stamps, etc.).

There are no GMs on the forums. The Blue Blizzard posters are Forum Support Agents. They can provide information to the account holder only - and only in some limited circumstances. They can not unban an account. They can only tell people how to appeal correctly.

Summary:

  • There are no GMs on the forums
  • The Forum Support agents will only take appeals from the account holder
  • They do not take appeals on the forum - it has to be through the ticket system

It is great you want to help your friend, but this forum does not offer the help you want. This is between him and Blizzard.

Understand, but at least blues are humans that worked for Blizzard… and this is the second time bans… I need to do something

Noted, thank you very much for your info. and my friend can not even post anything since he got his wow account banned.

The most baffling part is that, during my previous appeal, all the responses were automated. When I finally got a reply with a name attached, it was still very generic, and I am certain that the GM 100% didn’t even read what I had written.

They do have some auto replies based on category when queue times are high. The one you got with your name was likely real though - but a template they use. They don’t do personal chats on appeals.

Your overturned one may have been more personalized but even that tends to follow a format the GMs are required to use.

A few things: Are you appealing for your friend? If so, you can’t do that as they don’t do it for 3rd parties.

Another: They use templates, the way they do it is to keep things streamline and keep helping others. They can’t personally type up every last reply.

I’m not appealing on behalf of my friend; I’m simply expressing my own feelings and thoughts here, along with what my friend would like to say on the forums. He has already submitted his own appeal, but it’s pretty clear that there’s a high chance no real person will actually look at his ticket. My only hope is that maybe, by posting here, a real GM might take a look at his ticket. Although the chances are slim, this is the only thing I can do.

If it were responses to appeals they weren’t automated,They were templates, this allows for concise and consistent responses.

Your friend needs to file a appeal though. They can make a new account if they honestly feel like they must post here in Customer Support and just reference the account in question or ticket number.

Now… As a reminder, the Customer Support forum is not a work around the appeals system and team. The most your friend could hope for is a SFA giving very little information. And more times than not that information isn’t what a player wants to hear.

Once again, you don’t seem to understand this. But there are no GMs in Customer Support. You really need to let that reality set in. I know it sucks. But it really is the truth. We are not lying to you.

Unless a GM has stated further appeals will not be reviewed, his appeals will be viewed by a GM or specialist as they come up in the queue. The process is not automated. If they have stated that no further appeals on the topic will be reviewed, then that is the end of the road.

There are no GMs here. The chance is not slim, it is 0.
