Oh yeh, though in my experience it depends. Folks can get gatekeepy about it and that’s no fun.
TLDR: I don’t put too much effort save from glances to help flesh out a character, but beyond that - just… talk, get to know em’. That’s roleplay.

Maybe not the BEST example you used.
As the articles you listed don’t say men/women can’t have slutty armors, just that they should probably also have armor that somewhat makes sense or fits the times.
But anywho I agree with you that it’s intentional.
Plunderstorm had 0 addons, and they’re working on making WoW console friendly on the backend that we’ve seen with datamining.
Addons also ended up exacerbating the toxic min/max crowd we currently have. So I wouldn’t put it past Blizz to be working on fully removing them. Which I’m kinda all for.
MMO Champion is not a reliable source, its filled with angry neckbeards and racist sweatlords.
I think they’re important for more than roleplay though. TRPs are at a glance, a great way to spot red flags about someone’s character/writing. There’s nothing worse than getting to know someone and making friends and then finding out that they are a huge jerk or a weirdo. For some reason, TRP entices them to say those things up front and make it easier for other people to make informed decisions on whether they want to interact or not. I can see where you are coming from with the gatekeeping point though, especially since that’s literally what I just said it could be used for. It’s a tough system to use for good and only good.
not to mention that the author for the links that were shared, literally make controversial click bait articles, and every other one seems to go against what the other article claimed.
Both in actual information, and on the viewpoint of the author.
Aye. I do agree it can be used to gleam ideas or likes - but at the same time you also can be fooled by it.
The simplest solution is the bane of my existence as a socially anxious individual: walk ups.
Say howdy, at a glance folks can gauge. Unless your character is an isekai’d lady, obvious demon supporter or a dragon queen of the murloc netherwind faction, or some other thing where suspension of disbelief can’t kick in, you’re all good.
Does this mean my Kul Tiran female will look less porky?
Who knows? I’ll stick to the basic human design for a Kul Tiran however. I find it more fun and I got more to work with.
Could use some more meat on em’ bones - metabolism makin’ her skinny despite being fit SMH.
“Veterans”. I have been on MG for going on a decade. I respect RP, so much so that I have a TRP3 on all characters I play. I like how places are immersive due to RPers enhancing areas of the game normally dead on other servers. I just choose not to RP and I enjoy PVE. Saying that I’m lying or dismissing anyone’s experience is silly. No one who spends any real amount of time on MG can pretend that it doesn’t have a problem. So yeah…
And that IS dismissing. If you choose not to RP and to PvE that’s…
Well, like I said. Not worth it. You picked the wrong spot, made a blanket case. End of. I’m not gonna go back and forth on it.
I would have, but that’s not an option. The default figure is a grandmother-of-12.
You’re being really rude to me and I don’t appreciate you just saying the things I’ve seen over the years haven’t happened so whatever lol. MG has a lot of people engaging in some very questionable behavior. End of.
Every place, on every site, on every game, in every country and continent has a lot of people engaging in questionable behavior. We don’t fix that by taking away the ability for everyone to live freely, the fact we live freely means we can choose to live better. As you said earlier, you use TRP3 as well - be a force for good, then. Be one less bad profile, as you say, instead of saying we should dump the bucket over because of one bad apple. It’s simply not fair, Illaras.
Well, I won’t be the reason the addon stops working, if it even does happen, that is for sure.
Not hard. I just don’t appreciate people telling me I’m lying. Nothing more infuriating.
Said it better than I could myself, honestly. I am sorry to hear their experiences have been bad - I myself have had some bad experiences, but I don’t blame the community.
I don’t think that’s the issue here. Anybody can go to goldshire any time of the day and see what you say is true. But, you shouldn’t let that miasma seep into your view of everyone else from there. I think you’re just being a tad hyperbolic. If you expect the best from people, people will give you their best. That’s why I’m not arguing with you, I think we just view the issue differently.
Thank you for being a biiit more level-headed than I am.
Explaining it better than I can, I’m not the best at explaining myself.
There are plenty of non-ERP roleplayers out there who use TRP. I’m one of them, and I’ve had some nice whispers over the years commenting on my characters and their backgrounds.
It sucks seeing the usual “hurr hurr rip goldshire and erpers” comments in every discussion about the RP community,
Mine’s basically like a fully filled out DnD character sheet with their backgrounds, notable traits, and suggestions for RP or conversation topics.
Even if you don’t RP much with other people, it can be really fun to see what kinds of characters people make in Azeroth.
All I’ve said is I can see why Microsoft would force Blizzard to break the addon. I didn’t say I agree with it. These two things aren’t the same. Maybe I shouldn’t have said “majority” but there is A LOT of people using it for things that are very graphic. And those people aren’t contained to Goldshire.
This is why I use it too. I also get whispers about my detailed TRP3s and formatting. Some are 12 years old. I respect and appreciate RP, or else I wouldn’t be on MG.
