Apparently RP addons are doomed-ish?

@keyboardturn Ellie on twitter, dataminer and all around observant gal, has very recently spoken up on some crazy new server-side apocalypse scenario for RP addons and others, to be patched soon into all versions of WoW.

I can’t post a link and I don’t want to summarize or copy-paste her words as a layman on the subject, but y’all might want to look into that if it impacts you!

Edit: Murlocholmes added a link two responses down!

You could post the link and preformat it using the </> icon.

Unless Blizzard has said something, do not worry about it. Sounds like a PTR bug. Remember, its a test realm. Not everything that happens makes it to live.

Just a couple of weeks ago, people were saying every addon would be disabled in WW, cuz they had disabled addons in the PTR for testing reasons.

Thank you for throwing a link up, I was floundering figuring out the formatting to do so!

Hopefully it is because a lot of people use TRP and if what she is saying goes live quite a few people will say adios to wow

Yep, they gave me a 30-day eviction notice.

In a nutshell, the rate of addon messages being sent is getting throttled in the PTR - What does this mean in practice?

Currently on the PTR an average size TRP3 profile takes 90 seconds to actually load in in a low-population environment, and in a high population environment (IE: cities like Org and Stormwind where people chill) will likely take much longer to actually load up a profile.

Certain addons that require more snappy load times, like Musician, will effectively not be usable.

It’s not the best change to be slipped onto the PTR without some sort of comment

no it is for real - I read it a few weeks ago. I will look but not sure I will find where.

It is a bit more than dress too - I forgot about the other part.

Honestly if they want to make the game a actual RPG again they should make TRP3 baseline. RPers can use it for character info etc, non-RPers to list PVP interests, raid availability etc.

“exaggerated body proportions”

As in gigantic boo-bees and dump trucks. Has nothing to do with WoW or skimpy armor.

you missed this part

‘Are your female characters equipped with clothing and armor that fits their tasks?’

'https://thatparkplace.com/microsoft-recommends-game-developers-question-if-female-characters-wear-proper-clothing-and-if-games-are-reinforcing-any-negative-gender-stereotypes/'

neither of these articles are the source I read but different articles are emphasizing different things.

If you had any idea how these RWF combat addons worked, you’d know that the message rate is 3 messages per 1sec, on average.

Those WeakAuras are communicating rapidly. They are syncing timers, sending out commands/assignments. Each player is broadcasting a large amount of data.

I hope they don’t kill combat addons, but I do hope they kill that level of detail of “playing the game for you.” If it was more restricted IN COMBAT, great. This would avoid the issue with RP addons transferring data.

This is all very unrelated to the addon discussion and probably should have its own thread… I should know, I’m a pretty adept thread-highjacker in the wrong mood!

This is wholly about games like Stellar Blade and Bayonetta, not WoW.
