I can absolutely confirm what Iliaras is saying, as my experience on MG is pretty similar. In fact I moved away from MG for that reason. There is no denying that the rp community there is very large and diverse, so by extension the more graphic stuff is more present. Its not to say WRA horde doesnt have the same issue either. But its hard to pretend like it’s not there and say its contained to one or two places.
MG has a reputation for a reason, for good or ill and sadly the bad stuff will always overshadow the good, but one can;t deny it doesn’t exist. If youve managed to stay away from it, i salute you, but for me personally, it was more than enough to convince me not to play or rp there anymore. Everyone’s experience is different and their views on things are too. But dang, people have pushed the degeneracy so damn far on populated rp realms.
Honestly yeah, if you hang around the right circles of people you can get away from it. I dont have to deal with that in my guild on WRA horde thankfully.
I think humanity will go back and forth forever on this “if a thing is used to hurt others or be a creep, should everyone be able to have it for themselves” question, and we certainly won’t find the answer in TRP, lmao! Thank you for engaging with the RP community in a positive way and making the landscape better though.
Yeah, I mean, I really should not have said “majority”. I can see why some people felt like I was lumping them in. I just really think it is inconvenient to report a TRP3 and I’m not sure if Blizzard moderates them, or if so, how much time/man power they’d have to put into it. I hope the addon doesn’t get turfed, but if it happens, I simply see why. I meant no harm in expressing my experience or opinion.
I’ve only ever been solicited for ERP once in the last… 3 years since I started playing? I’ve personally found that as long as I don’t go looking for it, I don’t usually run into it.
Ive had it dumped on me a few times over the years, its uncomfortable, at least for me. And my guild discord has a channel containing whispers people there get from certain people, and its BAD. like really bad. Sometimes its funny bad but people can come off as really out of pocket creepy.
Same. Exact. Boat. Ended up even moving most of my Alliance chars over to WrA because of it. The people downplaying what happens on MG are doing exactly that, downplaying it and hoping the “normies” take it at face value.

The soliciting part rarely happens. I think I got a few from some level 20 night elf warrior a few times. Name started with an R iirc. But its been awhile, since BfA or Shadowlands. I have friends on MG who do RP. I will usually be courteous and not walk through people, or do distracting actions like using toys or running around jumping up and down when I am around RPers. I essentially try not to ruin anyone’s immersion. I do care about the server, some of the best people I know play there and I’ve met lifelong friends…but I’ve just read some stuff I wish I didn’t.
Nobody is downplaying anything, real people are coming forward in droves to pick at a narrative made of ghosts. If that is your narrative and it upsets you to have it disproven I’m sorry, but good people find good people beside them. I’ve never had these issues, but I’ve never been in a place where I could have. That’s probably step one for a lot of complainers.
The whispers my guildmates get from either RP realm says otherwise and those same people dont get banned, and if they do, its not for long. You can’t downplay this stuff. It’s not everyone obviously, but its enough for it to be well known. Experiences may vary.
Urgh, sorry to hear that man. It was just the once for me when someone asked if I’d be interested in RPing with them. Was trying to come up with some plots and they got suggestive. I politely declined and logged off.
