Anyone Want Just a Chill Expansion?

Id love to see a chill expansion. Something where the stakes arent high or focused on one main enemy.

Im thinking a revamp of the older zones. Some sort of “Azeroth Homecoming” where the 4 main continents are the focus. I want to see Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, and Pandaria all revitalized and made relevant again. The catacylsm happened long ago, the scars are still there but the lands have been developed since then.

New storylines for startzones of each of the races, and more cities. Thinking there’s a developed neutral Tuskar city hub on Northrend, and a neutral Pandaren city hub on Pandaria. Newly built or reclaimed capital cities for all the homeless races.

Bronze dragon time turners to go back to the older zones, but the revamped zones on all continents that would get you to max level for this hypothetical expansion.

Also no fancy borrowed power system at max level. Just good class design and better gear.

Rather than one big bad, you’re instead just solving local problems for each zone. This could also be a good time to introduce some new baddies for future expansions. Many of the villians will just be zone specific baddies, but have a few that stand out and get players excited for a future expansion with them as the main villian.

During this expansion they could also focus more on the problems each race is facing. Finally finish up Heritage armors for everyone. Just breath some life into the planet we’ve been trying protect since forever. Give each sub faction some love. Solve more problems that your character can relate to rather than saving the universe again.

World of Warcraft first started in the aftermath of the Third War, so why not update the world to reflect the post Fourth War? What do you guys think? Does a chill expansion sound like a good idea?

No to revitalize old zones. Thats leveling content which ppl hate no one does and is a waste of time.

They should bring back class halls and use phasing to advance a story across old zones like they did with artifact weapons. Use the old world and aave time not developing a new landmass. Leave flying in and stop dying on stupid hills.

Make the story a mystery and zones engaging that change based on player engagement like a warfront but ya know not terrible. Focus on making more dungeons both ones for m+ but then an ungodly hard mega one with no timers. That cant be completely done on launch because its so difficult. Make more raids.

give us a new talent row and “empowered talents” which allow us to modify existing talents for unqiue builds all done at player discretion (see DA: inquisition). If ppl want to no life it let them.

No new borrowed powers. Plenty of mog and cosmetics instead that are unlocked by completing world content or dungeons etc.

Congrats i saved wow. Send me my check blizz.

Edgelords who memed Mists of Pandaria endlessly ensured we’d never get that again.

Enjoy your Space/Cosmic opera.

I don’t agree with that at all, that rush to end game mentality is ruining the game.

It’s been done, no thanks

Its RoI. You may like it but given they made leveling shorter the appetite from the greater community is probably not interested. Therefore its dead content that wasted dev time.

Give me a max level adventure that takes months with an isle of queldanas progression hub and 15 dungeons and id be happier then using auto shot in a revamped leveling zone for a half hour

They made leveling take less time because there were too many expansions and the process was a complete mess. Most of my good memories from vanilla were from leveling, for example when you were in Darkshire and had to fight Stitches with your friends.

As more expansions were added the more players just wanted to get it over with so they could just raid and do dungeons. Keep in mind that not everyone wants to hurry and up and level so they can just raid and do dungeons.

Edit: Also your formula is not much different than what we currently have: Raid, dungeons, quest hub. GG next expansion please, things have gotten so stale. If players want to get back to the roots of the game then we need to bring the WORLD back to World of Warcraft.

I love this idea! Think of all the resources that are just sitting their vacant! They could also put in some great zone specific WPVP like Halaa used to be.

I’d like an expansion that brought back a little of the “old mmo” feel, without necessarily throwing away all end-game.

Large, but easily traveled zones that encourage exploration. Huuuuge areas with lots of places to see, lore to discover, and RP to be had (if that’s your thing). Maybe a more chill vibe. Not “OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS ENDING… AGAIN”.

Also, a really goddanged good hub, with a real reason to be there. Revamp crafting, maybe have crafting areas people need to go to. Update fishing, and make gorgeous fishing areas. Fishing contests, everything.

It’d need to be a beautiful hub. In some ways, BfA was the right direction with cities. They felt huge, explorable, and real. Make that, but pretty, and full of things to do. Cross-faction.

Just… real things to do outside of queuing for the rat race.

An evolving zone like isle of QD hasnt been done in ages. Where my AQ war effort?

Having a living zone at max level that changes with player involvement is not same old. Say You go the war table to pick which you want to go to that gives objectives that build outposts and push the enemy back or allow unique resources to be created but doing that sacrifices other zones etc. and the unlocks there. make a community effort to engage in the world then lol daily for korthite or revamped poop quests

Youd rather level more and say i want the same old? Pot meet kettle lol

I want more raids and dungeons because those encounters are fun instances to use skill sets and builds. Especially if we are stuck with them for years.

I’ve always thought that would be cool too, or revitalize the zones in a way where they become useful end-game zones again.

An expansion based around Brewfest?

Next WoW expansion will probably be us going into outerspace again.

This…

…explains that.

And equals this. Which is why they need to be revamped. Not sure what part of that equation you’re not understanding.

but but…some of us hated the class hall thing and would like the old zones revitalized

I read this as “Anyone want a chili expansion?” and I was sooo on board. It seems I was mistaken though
