What is their word? That they are considering limited sharding. That’s pretty easy to live up to. They consider, reject, then fully shard as with the demo.
Word kept. So I wouldn’t use that as my standard of “nice guy”.
We need more info to be about to hold Blizzard to a standard. That or double down on no change. Which ever works.
Depends on the server i think, I know on moonguard EVERYONE went nuts and they stopped doing it ASAP, same with WRA. I’m not sure about the old RP-pvp servers,
Yes they did
They said it was only going to be for new expansions but they had some form of “issue” the made it game/server wide which for some reason took a couple of expansions to figure out.
Sharding plain and simple isnt needed, at all, ever.
The only justification for it i read over and over in these threads are me me me. Supporters also have a tendency to say “dont like it wait” again a typical me me me response especially when the same philosophy applies to them as well.
Sure someone may throw in server stability but that has been bedunked on multiple occasions mainly by using the launch of past expansions.
I remember how Shadowbane dealt with starting zones on day of release (at least on my server). They had GMs controlling elite ogres running from camp to camp smashing groups apart that were huddled together waiting for spawns.
Having decided to have the subs linked is the prime contributor to the potential launch bloat (beyond what would be normal launch congestion). They caused one issue, and use it as justification to cause another.
Because it’s not even about the “reduced competition.” It’s about server stability. It’s about being able to actually play the damn game without lag spikes and constant DC’s and login qeues.
NONE of that is good for the game. I’ll take one diehard anti-sharder’s hurt feelings over an unplayable game.
Just because I don’t mention every single reason there is in every single post doesn’t mean I’m moving goal posts. Server stability didn’t even factor in to our discussion.
