@Anyone that says Sharding is not noticeable

Take a good look at this man's expressions before and after sharding...

Yup that's pretty much how jarring sharding is.

Would go so far as to say it's game breaking, simply because of the absolute absence of immersion. One second it's there, then poof it vanishes.

Reposting because it needs be said as much as possible:

Pay attention to that streamer's face when everyone in front of him disappears. Game development theory tells me that on paper sharding is good. That guy's face when sharding happens? That tells me that theory needs to be kicked to the curb. HARD.

All those people that disappeared? Each of those was a chance for social interaction. He could've started a conversation in /say. Chatted with a fellow Classic vet about the old days. Chatted with new blood about how much fun they could have if they stick around and give the game a chance. Found a questing partner. Found a guild or guildmate. Made a friend.

Instead he watched the chance for any of those interactions disappear right in front of his [Edited by Blizzard] face. And he'll never see any of those players again.

This is why Blizzard is [Edited by Blizzard] up, and [Edited by Blizzard] up hard. I'm not even gonna sugar coat it.

Occassional sharding so you don't have Iron Forge lag is going to be ok. They're not intending on using it unless it causes lag and issues in the area. That's a perfectly acceptable solution that should minimally impact gameplay.
Oops, looks like you and me both made threads posting that video at the same time OP.

Well, this is one video that should be seen.

It isn't OK. It always has problems in every game that utilizes it. Popping people around, making them relog trying to find each other, vanishing acts, etc.

They want to charge you 15 bucks a month for a game where no active content development will be going on, they can afford to pay for proper server construction especially when bootlegs were doing it in the past

It's never ok. The social aspect of classic has a huge impact on gameplay and it's one of its core features, if you apply sharding you are killing social interactions that might be happening right in that moment and you could never see those players again.

He was so happy and excited to play Classic WoW... and then the sharding.

Please reconsider this, Blizzard. :'(

When I walk into a capital city, I want to see tons of people in it. The more the merrier. I want the environment to feel alive. No people = dead game.

There's absolutely nothing acceptable about this. End of discussion, not up for argument.

I leveled 15-19 today and barely saw anyone outside of town over the 4 hour period. This was on the second most populated realm. Didn't compete for any tags, didn't group with anyone. Not the experience I was hoping for.
Yeah, even if you play BFA it's just as awful
- It severely kills immersion, randomly changes the world and makes people and things appear/disappear in a very obvious manner
- It hurts gathering professions, stuff poofs right in front of you, and then you can run to another node and go back into the last shard and have THAT disappear too
- It hurts realm identity
- It hides people you might know in the same area as you if they are not grouped
- It hurts the chances for natural social interaction as seen by the video
- It hurts RP servers a lot for the reasons above

It's not worth killing the authenticity for. Remove it and just make classic the way it should be, even if the first week is a mess.
