@Anyone that says Sharding is not noticeable

Yes it can and will have an impact on wpvp.
If the server detects to much of a player load the other raid group you are raiding a city with will get sharded to another instance.
The same with a large rp event or anything that will have a large playerbase located in one area.

Yeah, I donā€™t particularly like that.

I want to play on a PvP server so I can PvP, not miss out because it got crowded.

My personal version of tourist is not really targeting retailers. Itā€™s more of a broad spectrum.

The players that are wanting to play Classic but have yet to feel that wall we all hit post 25ish. That point where leveling takes effort. When they hit it they might reroll but they will hit the wall again. Then eventually quit.

I remember the feeling of that wall well.

As for that idea I posted. I mean an Open betA weekend type thing. Thatā€™s anyone and everyone.

Haha, yea for sure thatā€™ll be funny alliance raids Cross roads spams Local defense, and thereā€™s just a bunch of horde sitting in the town going ā€œwtf?ā€

Iā€™m not sure if Sharding dictates chat channels is another problem. ( I may be wrong on this as well so if i am please correct me.) But if iā€™m in shard 4 and Ike is in shard 272 and sayā€™s Heā€™s getting ganked, and i invite him it will change it to my shard, so they ganker will just poof vanish. Sorta like X-realms IIRC.

No doubt. That would kill it for me.

So if the sharding is set to 100 per shard. You think you miss out on the PvP in the other shards? How is that different than PvP in a different zone?

I have played exclusively on rp servers since WrA launched and have server hopped all over the place with other toons.
The issue isnā€™t that big of a deal.
Is it frustrating and highly annoying without a doubt but it isnt a make it or brake it deal and most rpā€™ers have the creativity to overcome the obstacle.

This is what I mean. I donā€™t want to show up when things are getting going, only to seeā€¦ nothing.

Fair enough, tourist is such a broad term iā€™d have no idea, i just think the biggest ship thatā€™s going to crash with Classic will be retailers since theyā€™ll know about it day one, and itā€™s something new that maybe theyā€™d want to try out, clearly that makes sense i feel. But the thing is, despite the names it DOES feel like a different game, and i do feel theyā€™ll be the first to the most numerous to jump ship or settle in it.

As for the wall? Yea once you hit 20ā€™s, youā€™ll start feeling the burn. Also everyone can get effected by level burn out in general.

I do like the Open beta idea, if it deleted everything when the game launched maybe more then a weekend say a whole week, thatā€™ll be enough time to find out if this is the game for you or not, though iā€™m doubtful blizzard will do it.

Another idea is to have Normal servers I.E PVE servers only have Sharding? Clearly itā€™ll effect RP and PVP too much but maybe having a PVE only shard server can be a decent medium.

Iā€™d imagine Blizzard would have to prioritize faction ratios on PvP servers at least.

50 x 50 battle going on. You show up to join. How long before you have your own 50 x 50.

Not going to assume Blizzard has thought of the issue there but itā€™s not a new condition.

and this is why i fight against classic having sharding. people with you are more then happy to green light stuff like sharding and give blizzard excuses to use it wherever they want

sharding can affect world pvp yes.

We had some pretty epic battles back in the day before BGs were introduced. Hate to see this get messed with.

Once BGā€™s are introduced, WPvP tends to taper down a bit.

So youā€™d rather have an unstable, crashy mess than a game that you can actually play? Sorry, but I know where my priorities are.

iā€™d rather have world events and AQ be big epic events like they are supposed to be. sharding counteracts that.

People think that the starter zones will be unplayable at launch without sharding.

They should see what Hillsbrad is going to look like prior to BGs being added.

I remember those days, we had a lot of fun. Honestly, I donā€™t ever recall ever seeing a server crash due to massive fighting, and the only thing that sucked was my crappy computer chugging to keep up.

those were fun days. lots and lots of death. but fun days.

It was a ton of fun, but as I recall pretty much no lowbie got anything done in Hillbrad =P

The only thing I can remember that gave the server some issues was if the Horde attacked Ironforge.

For some reason that seemed to be worse than even if we attacked Orgrimmar.

Now that was insane.

We need to stop talking about it, Iā€™m dying over here.
