Anyone else sick of "Tyrande is Evil!" threads/comments?

I say about time! (To what I placed in bold from your statement)

raises her hand

I for one do!! I’m tired of the yrs of yawn-fest that has been the Alliance - although I despise Tyrande just b/c and think she and her Beloved need to be done away with b/c as leaders they are terribly selfish/abandon all for one another to hell with their ppl. (as per the World of Warcraft “story-line”, that is)

(Before anyone tosses out that good ole ‘go to’ “So why didn’t you play Horde?” I was playing w/friends for yrs on Alliance, until recently when they either left the game completely, or ventured off to Classic only. I do have 120 Horde characters that I work on but it just doesn’t feel the same. Maybe it would be different)

That’s not the concern. It is that people think she is evil because she is unwilling to accept the current situation and sign a peace agreement while her people’s lands are held by the Horde and those responsible have not been called to justice. Now I wouldn’t be against in the future she becomes consumed by the power of the Night Warrior and goes too far but we are not even in the realm of that time yet.

Call me when she burns down one of your cities, smiling while civilians are burning to death and then we can talk about her as a villain.

Tyrande is not evil but she is selfish. I can understand her want for justice for her people but where are the rest of her people? Who is taking care and leading them? She is wasting resources on her vengeance that could be going to aiding her people. Helping them rebuild their lives and help with their grief. The other thing is that her vengeance is blinding her. We do not know what powers or who Sylvanas’ master is. This long war and the fight with the legion has taken a toll on both sides. Everyone needs to regroup and strengthen themselves before taking on a battle they know nothing about.

In the end it is just more poor storytelling for Tyrande. As a leader, a warrior that has lived and fought for so long she should have more wisdom than what she is showing. I have no problem with her rage, her need for vengeance. I just have a problem with how they have her going about it.

Cant wait for all the “Tyrande isnt evil! Thunderbluff was a valid target” threads to pop up. Oh the irony will be delicious.

This reminds me of how they built up the possibility of Jaina going on the warpath pre expac. We thought Jaina was going to go berserk on the horde in this expac, but really it became more of the same for her.

Tyrande is righteously angry, and by the sounds of it Anduin isn’t demanding any kind of real concessions from the Horde.

They really should have tried to make resolution of the night warrior before 8.2.5 now it feels left in limbo, and we are waiting for possibly 2-3 patches later to know what really has happend in darkshore. Do the night elves have it? Does the horde have it? There are so many missing pieces to the puzzle. What started out as the focal point of the Expac has become a side story.

I understand it is an mmo and stories don’t always flow, but the anger/frustration built up from the NE fan base is justified in that it feels like all of this has been for nothing, and around the corner, we get more negative news in the possibility that they will make Tyrande a villain for Garrosh 3.0

re: Tyrande: The point is not that she´s upset and griefing and wants revenge, that´s totally understandable. There´s just the matter of the highly forbidden ritual she undergone that turned her eyes black and is even commented on by Azshara of all people (!!!) of how bad it truly is. In other words no good can come out of that. Blizz aint gonna let her sit on her night warrior form forever, there will be a conclusion to that, and i think you wont like where it will go.

WoW is full of examples of there being a price for taking that forbidden power…see: arthas with frostmourne.

It’s not as though Anduin had forbidden the ritual, and anyways the ritual is forbidden because of how life threatening it can be to whomever attempts. Tyrande survived, hopefully they don’t leave her super saiyan forever.

So um… You are saying you are sick of the thing you then go into detail about?

It’s usually comprised of the “cool kids” a.k.a the “If the character isn’t badass with a evil past who redeemed him/herself or if the person is downright evil that person isn’t interesting and is boring” type of thoughts.

Ignore them. They are too cool to realize that eventually that their fanfiction fails way too hard most of the time.

Anyone tired of Alliance baddies getting redemption arcs, yet if a Horde character stands up for themselves and their race they become the next big bad?

Fixed your subject line.

Tyrande needs to be a raid boss. She pushed Garrosh into war because she would rather the Orcs starve than cut down a few trees, she denied the nightborne into the Alliance because they like magic. She’s one of the most xenophobic and hateful characters in the game.

Genn Greymane is a fairweather friend who turned his back on the Alliance in the second and third wars and hid behind a wall while Lorderon burned, yet gets pissy when the undead corpses of the people he betrayed anex his city. Then when Sylvanas has to retreat from the broken shore because her forces were getting slaughtered Genn starts a mini-war with her for refusing to be cannon fodder. Genn needs to be a raid boss too

Let’s not forget good old plucky Jaina. Murdering every blood elf in Dalaran because a few of them helped Garrosh is acceptable behavior right? Give her a redemption arc and pretend she did not attempt genocide.

Too many alliance players want to believe their faction’s stuff smells like roses.

It’s just an attempt at false equivalence to downplay the genocide of Sylvanas.

Tyrande cost the Allience the Nightborne so that make her evil enough in my eyes.

I have made my feelings known on more than one occasion that Tyrande is overrated…her and her whiny “beloved”. They have forgotten, or pushed aside the safety of their own ppl for their own selfish, careless reasons. They cost us Y’sera…

In the books, they’re great…in game - I hate them.

Oh this is an old thread, but it’s obvious that they will kill off Tyrande as a villain in Shadowlands.

It’s basically set in stone now, nothing to change about it. The Night Elves got their revenge in 8.1 by slightly dropping down Nathanos HP. If they want more they’re evil, and that’s what Tyrande wants.

Note that those aren’t my words but the words of the writers, Horde players have been complaining about losing leaders so they are doing the same thing to Tyrande, an alliance leader now.

Also Sylvanas will obviously be redeemed because not only does the head writer have an unhealthy obsession with her, it’s also a good way to spit on like the 10 Night Elves that are left in the lore.

And as this thread shows, Horde players are also in full support of the above and since Blizzard only caters to the Horde fanbase … :woman_shrugging:

What makes her evil is she totally bailed when her people needed her to most to carry her man somewhere. In her mind the needs of one outweighted the needs of the many. She sends a player character to save as many as you can. How many more Night Elfs would have been saved if a god level priest was there to help? To me that was her turning point. Sure the horde needed to be fought for the attack but she is running around like she was there the whole time.

I agree with you. The people who wants to kill Tyrande at all costs probably have less than 15 years old and never played W3 in their lifes but they are the 80% of the players and we will get a killable Tyrande in the next expansion thanks to them. She literally did nothing wrong, at least for now. One of the heros of the first and third war against the Burning Legion and the one who protected Ashenvale woods for millenia will be loreruined by actiblizz, as other characters.

I think the change in direction for Tyrande is necessary.

The alliance needs a little more drama. Drama is caused by conflict. Storytelling 101. It’s boring when it’s always sunshine and puppies.

Even the tightest friends don’t always get along.

I’m just hoping we get some savage Night Elf action again soon.
It’s been too long.
Maybe we’ll be visiting “mysterious attacks” on forsaken outposts in the prepatch.

I’m also pretty sure invoking the Night Warrior will most likely take a massive personal toll on Tyrande. Otherwise, there’s no reason to really make a large deal out of it.
