Anyone else sick of "Tyrande is Evil!" threads/comments?

slight 8.3 dialogue spoilers ahead

Like, they pop up almost daily. Comments about it are spread all over Reddit, Wowhead, MMO-Champion, etc.

It’s almost like people don’t understand the concept of a leader of a people wanting justice for the genocide of her people. Wanting justice does not make her evil.

Refusing to sign a peace treaty with the people who were complacent with the genocide and actively aided in it does not make her evil.

Hell, she even agrees to sign it, ONCE SYLVANAS IS DEAD. But what does Anduin say? Does he say okay, they’ll help her find Sylvanas, so that the Alliance and Horde can fully unite? No. He essentially tells her she’s being selfish.

I’m sorry, if she had set up barricades in Stormwind’s exits and burned Stormwind to the ground instead of Teldrassil, Anduin would be doing the same thing as her.

Killing Sylvanas wouldn’t only get justice for Teldrassil, it’d get justice for the many people at the Wrathgate, for Saurfang, and countless others that Sylvanas has killed over the years. Yet instead of trying to fully unite everyone like he’s claiming, Anduin instead chooses to isolate the Night Elves.

If anything, he’s the one being selfish. Half of me wants to see something in 8.3/8.3.5 or 9.0 where Thalyssra or Lor’themar goes to Tyrande’s aid, to see a Horde race aid in the Night Elves search of Sylvanas.

She is not evil, she is not selfish. Anyone who actually looks at the situation should realize this. That said, the dialogue in 8.3 that implies whatever blackened the moon and gave her the Night Warrior powers is not Elune is worrisome, but it doesn’t automatically make it evil.

You are right in my opinion, except for this part. Anduin would still try for peace between the Horde and Alliance (and let Slooveenie live if that was part of the peace between the two) even if she had targeted SW instead, and honestly she should have targeted SW and continued raising humans instead of Night Elves.

my only hope is when we raid boss tyrande i get to loot her corpse. no bubble hearthing like jaina did. let her actually die.

she’s about to get her redemption arc while tyrande is being made a villain. i hope all those alliance that said they didn’t care if they got villain batted as long as they got story like horde do were being honest with themselves. because otherwise… lol.

Then they will end up butchering her character. Just like lightforged undead butcher the point of forsaken. They aren’t supposed to be happy light filled lovers of life.

As I have said, I am fine if the Night Elves get to actually be bloodthirsty for once and if Tyranduh dies then that’s just fine. After Teldrassil, they deserve to dish out some of the horror that they have received.

True she’s not evil and Sylvanas does need to go down, but vengeance is a slippery slope. Others in WoW went down that path too and not all of them ended well. Even Shandris knows this and is rightly concerned. Tyrande might push away her friends and allies.

Anduin agrees that Sylvanas needs to be dealt with. And pretty certainly his SI:7 agents are looking for her too. He just doesn’t want Tyrande’s actions to reignite the faction war again after we finally have some kind of peace.

It won’t matter who was evil or good after Sylvanas puts an arrow through Tyrande’s wretched heart. It is starting to make sense tho. Sylvanas had exposed Elune for what she really is.

She will NEVER get a redemption arc. There is no coming back from what she has done so far in BFA and that is only the stuff we actually know about. I mean she even betrays BOTH FACTIONS to Queen Azshara so she can release N’Zoth. She admits that her goal for the war was to feed the living to the “hungering darkness”.

Sorry but there is no coming back from this, even with this crack writing team.

They’re discussing the tonal implications and comparing it to the only few reference points they can within the historic storyline.

this toon supports sylvie because he is also evil. he’s a freaking warlock. most of my other toons are pro thrall though. i just like the forum rp with this toon. my actual most geared character though is a dwarf pally. :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem with Blizzard writing sometimes is that if something sounds villainous or acts against the grain, it probably is villainous. Remember “wait and see who burned Teldrassil?” and see how Blizzard has the writing nuance of a tractor trailer barreling into a building.

My guess is its:

  1. Tyrande’s villain arc isnt going to be important and relegated to a sideplot where it has an unsatisfying outcome and storytelling, further damaging the night elf story.

or

  1. It turns out the Night Warrior ritual got them all corrupted and they must ban together to fight the heart of the corruption in a dungeon or the first raid to free the night elves, further damaging night elf lore.

This is the first one of these I have seen tbh.

Drinking the ‘cool-aide’ is a pretty sure sign in wow that someone is on the path of ‘evil’. Tyrande has drunk the cool-aide.
