It is solely through your own efforts. In game gold or not, you still made the effort.
They’re cosmetics. And very few. It’s not the end of the world. It’s been in existence since Wrath.
Welcome to corporations. That’s how the world works.
And if someone wants to list that token and get in game gold, why do I care? We all know how it works. We just don’t care. Because it’s not a big deal.
I bet they base it on something that matches it closer in size and intent than in biology, such as the Boar. A smalled-down Yak would have movement problems.
As an example, the Fox mount uses the Sabercat model, despite Foxes being canines (and Blizzard acknowledging this by including a fox in the dog bundle).
I don’t really care one way or the other about the in-game shop, but it’s interesting to see how Blizzard re-uses models (which they do constantly) and how much people notice.
Nobody is saying they shouldn’t. I’m simply telling you that WoW tokens aren’t unlimited as some of us like to think here and therefore, i don’t think it’s actually playing for free because you have to rely on people making the tokens available for you in order to purchase it.
Granted, maybe they think that because there is a lot of tokens now, and seeing a constant influx of that.
You are comparing CE to the store now? Seriously, I just don’t get this, I got extra stuff for CEs before WoW existed, this is nothing new, industry norms for decades now.
Why though, does it trigger so many of you? That is the real question here. They don’t force you to buy them, they don’t link content access to them. They are merely “bonuses” for supporters.
You said “Nothing is free if you get pedantic enough.” And i gave you the comment here where i said pretty much that. Showing my agreement to that nothing is truly free. Are you trying to imply it’s a bad thing to think this by calling it “pedantic” and/or calling me “pedantic” for thinking this?
Explain how it’s different other than a purpose-built UI.
You give them real money—You get a virtual pet. Same thing.
As I said in another post, I don’t care one way or another about the in-game shop. I accept that it has been around for the entire existence of WoW and choose not to use it.
Well what she meant to me is she is implying that she doesn’t want to care (or asking for a reason why she should) if somebody wants to list that token and get ingame gold. She told me we all know how it works, and that we don’t care because she said it’s not a big deal.
The “we don’t care” part is where i shown my doubts because A, whenever this topic here is bought up, tons of people have things to say about it by making a comment, so on some level, they do care. And B, this is speaking for other people here by saying “We”. i don’t know know who this’ we she’s referring to.
You’re doing the thing where you are making it sound like what i’ve said is dumb by comparing it to air.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing to remind people, even if it’s repetitive by people’s standards, about how the WoW token works. Or any things that people claimed it’s obvious.
Again, i’m very doubtful of that. The only reason i’m doubtful of this phrase is because often or not, it’s not true at all and people tend to do care by having something to say via commenting. Especially when i look down and see you saying you don’t care about the ingame shop, yet you are responding to somebody by saying “it doesn’t effect me”, but i digress from that.
It’s not a bad thing to care about something honestly. I understand you want to say “i don’t care”, but to me personally, that would be like me going into a politic thread and then telling you “oh i don’t care about politics” when we both know it’s false, not to use a trite example. Maybe if i didn’t get involved, i would say that and have it be correct in the message i wanted to convey. That’s how i feel about the whole “i don’t care” or “Nobody cares” thing.
And why is me supporting a company I enjoy by paying a little extra for a pet so triggering to you? Especially when the same evil company you loathe so much, lets you do it with a non existent currency that you can gain by merely playing their game?
Keep shaking that fist at the sky, just remember to switch arms every once in a while, you don’t want to get too swole on one side only.
It’s not. Not only did I never said I cared, I said explicitly that I don’t care.
To reiterate, I do not care one way or another about the in-game shop. It has existed since before WoW launched in the form of Collector’s Editions. If you want to buy them, it has no effect on my life.
Why is everything so triggering to you? You don’t matter to me. At all. I will forget you exist literally minutes from now. Do what you want.
If WoW did that people would lose their minds. They already did when they brought back the MoP Collector’s Edition mount and pet… they’d say it makes the mount they earned less prestigious.
