I hope that you get well very soon!
Central is a lot of fun. Do you work on Historic Central or are you in the business district on the other side of Oaklawn? Up until after Labor Day I was working for a small tech business that was over on West Grand but moved to Central last summer. The owner and I had a falling out, though, and ever since then I’ve been a full time student at National Park and self employed with my wife and I running our own business.
I’m an engineer at Radius Aerospace beside Waffle House on Central. I park in the VIP pool house lot during the week.
I didn’t expect someone from this area to see my post.
Good lord we came close to meeting multiple times! I did a cyber security risk assessment for Radius last spring! The tech company I mentioned is right across the street!
So speaking of cyber security, before this conversation gets too personal, if you’re comfortable with it, my battlenet tag is Tanaralas#1152. Add me there and maybe let’s grab lunch sometime in the near future! I don’t know hardly any other people in this area that play this game, so that’d be cool if you’re down!
opens up door AHHH FEEL THE REFRESHING JANURARY AIR.

Had enough of mother nature moving all that snow the past couple days. Back into my hidey hole.
Opening up the door to put my dog out like
That wind is definitely more of a biting cold than anything else.

bulldozes the door open
I like the cold thank you.
East Central rural IA here. Started 14" the first snow…Next aft/evening another 4"…Next 24 hours another 8". And the temp was big below 0 something or other, with windchill -50 in some areas. This AM i did our long driveway @ -10 W/O the windchill. Our county has some of the laziest road maintainers there are, and do not work on weekends. So the road has been untouched since like Fri night. When it gets this bad, you only see 1 of 3 things on the road.
- REALLY brave UTVers with mudder tires.
- The big 8 wheel drive tractors that steer by pivoting in the middle of their frame.
- Snowmobiles.
We all have 4 wheel drive pickups, wood burners, and generators because of such possible conditions. I was warned by the neighbors to always have a min. of 3 weeks of supplies.
3 years ago the county had to bring in railroad blowers to clear part of the road by an open field in a bit if a valley. They cut a flush cliff along the road that measured almost 18 feet tall when they made it through.
It’s really scary at times, but preparation and warning is the whole key.
So, yah, long story short, it is cold here too.
do you want to join my discord?
It was -7 feels like -25 where I am when I woke up this morning.
Sure, but I don’t spend a whole lot of time on Discord.
