It is unpopular because it is weak, has lots of potential but weak.

You already have the 900k HP Druid I am talking about the survival hunter, not a Demon Hunter.

Now while your at it, can you help me out in what specific response or tactics would you use as Survival Hunter in a fight with a Daemon Hunter on uneven terrain ?

Or a Druid with 900k HP now keep in mind this Druid has a damage shield it hurts you when you hit him.

He has a direct damage spell that is actually a dot, on top of this he can and does heal… He does all this while melee fighting, this used to be impossible because the druid had to change forms to heal.

So when you give me some tactics then your a player if not then your just talking and this is about fighting.

Boards are for talking but Warcraft is for fighting …

I guess that none of you can give a decent reply in player mechanics or specifics in talent used how and when that make this SV spec so great.

And there again most would agree that if SV were soooooo powerful more would play it but I think it is the least played of all specs and races both human and orc.

You can look that up I may be wrong but I think it is the least played of all toons in Warcraft World Wide … So powerful, Roar.

Truth is you hate competition, probably sideline a DH and a Druid, non of what I asked for is not in use in the game now.

Survival Hunter should be its own class…

No. Enough with the melee arms race. If Havoc is OP, which it is, nerf Havoc. Don’t buff every melee to match Havoc. This approach is poisoning class design.

At 2.5% rated PvP representation it is not weak. Just because it isn’t as strong as the most OP of specs doesn’t mean it’s weak. BM is at 1.1% and MM is at 0.2%. They are the specs that need attention. After all, they are the respects that represent the iconic Hunter ranged fighting style, unlike Survival, so it’s just a bit ridiculous that rated PvP players are stuck with Survival.

Survival’s low representation is in everywhere else other than rated PvP and it’s because most Hunters do not want to play a melee spec.

SV is not Melee, blended attacks and fun to play…

Played for a long time and you have to mix the gear and attacks right…

But really fun, Kinda like a beast lord… needs some more snare breakers and some perks particular to him…

A stun bomb would be cool, AOE stun bomb or AOE fear bomb…

Agreed.

Fair enough if they want to add things outside of the original core features of the class. But it isn’t okay to remove large chunks of what it is that represents that/those core features. As, that is what most players who are invested in the class at the time, want/like.

I just wish they would give him some real solid damage, and some resistance hes got the mitigation of a house fly or less.

I started a warlock and by comparison that low level warlock makes the SV 120 455 geared hunter look like a level 70 gnome mage in greens.

I have spent months farming gear, I had 100 wipes on Ashvane 100 in a row before we killed it 100 …

Did I say 100 I said 100 I meant 100 … SO after all that time farming thinking better gear better resistance to damage.

Not so… His damage mitigation is intentionally garbage, he is one of the hardest toons to play in PvP .

You have to get the drop on the person your fighting or flip it real fast or your dead.

I have played a few other classes now just to see, what I find out is that clearly Blizzard or whoever picks winners.

Your success is what you pick at the start screen not how well you play believe me…

Game would grow if you got out of the business of creating winners and just give options.

There’s lots of minor tweaks I’d make to Survival, but only one I think definitely needs to happen:
Prune Mongoose Bite. It didn’t work at all in Legion, and it only works slightly more now.

Its random gibberish using % in the wrong way.

MM is quite good in pvp, strong… but people seem to want the game to be balanced around 1v1 senarios only, that will never happen. The two specs, BM and MM are fine, they dont need more attention or anything, they are fine.

Why are they so low in high end rated pvp ? Because of how they work, not because they are weak. MM is a ranged canon, skill players will always watch out and respect their dmg, thus LOSing. BM is pet centered, perhaps one could improve their pathing / ai … but the pets can be dealt with easy in pvp senario.

Again, that 2.5% is high rated pvp, 1800 + at min (for arena only too!) so hardly cover them all. MM / BM are more useful in rated and non rated BGs. Arena is a lot more picky and some specs arent used not because they are bad, because they have bad synergy or are easily countered due to how the spec works.

“Fixing” those spec, like you want to, would mean to heavily modify… well to simply remove them and make new one.

Same goes with survival in pve, that terrible website only show high end content and hardly represent them. There’s plenty survival doing raids too, dont be fooled by incomplete stats.

The only useful stat on that site is the max lvls using said spec, even that is not fully accurate but its the closest thing there is… and you know what? The stats are great on it!

Surv: 2.5%
MM: 2.8%
BM: 3.2%

Nothing big ! All close to the average of 2.5%, there’s spec out there with much lower rep.

Mainly pug with the hunter he is fun pvm but he is worse than a housefly in damage mitigation …

My warlock is a tank by comparison…

What I just said is all creditable, anyone can see / read it if they use logic and common sense. One doesn’t need to post on a specific character to make a point, thats just the common reply of one who lost and cannot find a proper reply.

Those are the famous stats that people love to use, they dont support their claim of SV being dead or other spec being less popular.

Absolutely. They completely ruined Marksman, BM’s Barbed Shot mechanic is awful, and Survival is well… melee.

I hate what they’ve done to us. REALLY want to hope Shadowlands has better in store for us, but I doubt it.

I don’t agree with the cons of Hunters as you said it, but I agree in that they should buff Hunters and the Pets system(add back unique abilities to pets and give back their former diversity) and hopefully add SV as a Ranged spec or to at least refine it and the other Hunter specs.

I know the original post is rather old, but I saw this while perusing the class forums and wanted to chime in. I’ve played, off and on, for 13 years and have leveled almost everything but strict melee to max, including multiple Hunters, over the years. I had been playing healers for a great while, then switched to Druid primarily, but needed a change of pace while working on finishing up a bunch of achievements so I used my boost on a Hunter. It’s actually pretty great, thus far. I miss quite a few things about my Druids, but what my Hunter is lacking isn’t even close to being a deterrent to playing her. There are a lot of things that could be improved upon, yes, but that’s the state of the game, at large. I do not find it boring. It involves the same level, if not more, of attention to details that my Druid did, in regards to rotation and managing cooldowns, etc (except for CA/VoP management) and an even greater sense of situational and surrounding awareness because I have an extra thing (pet) to be mindful of at all times. Sure, it’s not hard, by any stretch, but it’s engaging enough to keep me entertained and on track with the stuff I need to get done. I don’t know why I waited so long to return to the Hunter class.

Yeah, I completely get you. I just came back from cataclysm. I played with a survival hunter and f-ing god, it was amazing. Play with the venoms gave you so much fun. In my opinion, survivor hunts, were one of the best classes for PvP. I can’t believe how much blizzard ruined that class. So sad.
