Mateus is great for RP.
Balmung is Goldshire.
My suggestion is to create a Human and start in Elwynn Forest or a Orc and start in Durotar.
Don’t worry about being weak at the beginning, you will do quests and get stronger and you can find chromie to help you choose which expansion you want to level in.
Good luck and we hope to see you in the new raid!
Do job quests. Make sure to equip your job crystal at 30.
Don’t skip Cutscenes, at least voice acted ones.
Sell the quest gear you don’t need. Quest gear at 50,60,70,80 from the new expacs will always sell as people are always leveling new jobs. I finished my MSQ line with 4 million Gil.
Don’t boost to 70. You wont have an idea what is going on in the world.
You can put armor items for glamor (transmog) in your dresser in any inn. Think of it like void storage.
Protip you can use anywhere: Asking for advice about games on the correct forum will increase your chances of getting advice
There is no destination. it’s just a long journey. And the journey is literally nothing but questing. And when I say hundreds of quests, I am grossly low-balling the amount of quests you have to do.
If you play video games to rp, or looking for a movie to watch or a book to read in the form of a video game, then you will love it. But if you are looking for a game, you may be disappointed.
And this us coming from someone who has an almost max lvl black mage, of all things. The gcd is an hour long, and with black mage, if you dont do you rotation perfectly, you dont do it at all. You literally cant. But the fights are full of dancing around like fruits, so you are going to interrupt that hour long gcd.
Oh, and the “raids”? 30 minutes.
Enjoy
Ohno you sweet child. Black Mage as your first class? Are you sure?
Black Mage requires a lot of pre fight knowledge as a lot of fights are intense on the movement so you’ll be cast interrupted a lot.
Many streamers seem to love the game at the moment and their developer Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) is someone who I wish worked for Blizzard.
Unlike Warcraft these quests have substance, meaning and story. Not the oh go gather 30 nostrills of a murlock with a 20% drop rate.
Yea, I love this too. Its a way better system then WoW where you spend more time on trash then the actual fight and you can just do the next boss on your own time rather then abandoning a party and being left with a half raid lock out.
It’s about 300 hours from start to finish watch all cutscenes and reading as quickly as the quickest auto text setting will allow. No afks.
Well you see I don’t have to imagine, because I did. This one blatantly ignored them and posted about a completely different game that has nothing to do with WoW. Now imagine being upset at someone for speaking the truth, and wasting time in your life telling someone to imagine something that is irrelevant to the point they made, which is true.
Good advice, thanks! I’m just doing the free trial for now. I’m not switching games but wanted to give it a shot.
Thanks to everyone else who gave good advice.
For those who are calling me a troll etc, good i’m glad I triggered you. I was partially serious and partially looking for funny reactions
Yeah…I mean, this might sound harsh, but I don’t mean it that way:
Find an FF discord or forum to ask your questions on. I mean, seriously. I don’t ask Skyrim modding questions on this forum. I go to my Skyrim modding community for that.
If you’ve got WoW questions or stories or input…this is the place. If you want advice on FFXIV…please. I beg you. Go to an FF community. Here, you’re going to get a combination of abusive responses and a lot of snark. In an FF community, you’ll actually have people who know the game and want to help you play it well.
You literally just described a book or a movie. In modern times, many games fall into the mmorpg category. things like destiny, tons of crap neither of us will ever play, and obviously all the big titles. Have you noticed that ff14 is an outlier?
The rest all have one thing in common, and that’s gear/loot/power progression being the central theme
And is exactly what he is doing since everyone is moving to ff14 since wow is terrible and not fun… So yeah. What’s up with ff14… Maybe developers glimpse at this forum every now and then and see their consumer is looking some where else
yes post on their forum for ‘tips’
And thats why FFXIV is better then the rest.
And thats why those are bad. Power progression shouldnt be the core game design.
than* you want to use this form when comparing things. You would use then only when referring to a point in time, or in conclusion. for instance, “then leave tomorrow morning.” Or, “then I went to the movies.”
And this is just an opinion, and apparently a very unpopular one.
give it a chance. the 2.5 second GCD that people cry about is basically a non-issue later game when you get all of your abilities. Tons to hit that aren’t on the GCD so you don’t really notice it.
Thanks, English isnt my main language and those two always confused me.
If it was an unpopular opinion there wouldnt be so many people who get turned off by it. But I guess that was your opinion.
