Any chance Evokers get the same casting range as others?

Why do Evokers only get a 25yd range instead of the normal 40yd range of the other casters? I don’t get this…

its actually 30 Yard and its actually plenty. You don’t get it because you don’t understand it. Or choose not too

Devastation is literally only 25yds on most spells, Preservation gets an extra 5yds on Red spells(OMG!). But thanks for giving me some type of beneficial information…

There is zero chance of it happening. We where built to be at 25 yard range and the main Evoker guy said that’s not changing.

I’ve not really found a big problem with it personally, more range would be nice sure but it’s not really effected me negatively.

Thank you for the info. Perhaps it’s the needing of pvp gear, I can take so much damage trying to close that gap.

Tried some pvp on my evoker, and while I dont have much gear on him, the 25 yard range on spells is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL.

Range classes need 40 yd range in pvp in this game.

Anyone saying 25 yd range is not noticeable to their gameplay is talking straight up PVE. In PVE it really doesnt matter much (though I could see raids being an issue with range stacking discrepancies), but PVP it is actually just a dealbreaker for me. Its NOT fun trying to empower a fire breath or Eternity surge and having enemy just walk right out of range on the last tick of empower, essentially canceling the cast.

Guess every other class just needs to be nerfed to 30y so Dracthyr doesn’t feel left out.

I can see how it would suck for PvP but nahh its not changing.

I haven’t had any problem adjusting to the range … but then I was used to being an arcane mage in melee range for AoE for 6 years sooooo lol.

Deep breath and dream flight hit up to 50 yards.
I believe there is a high chance the other flying spells might follow the same range logic eventually (verdant embrace, rescue)

To me devastation is still a work in progress so they might change a bit like preservation but dont ever expect 40 yards.
If they wanted 40 yards they would have simply put wings to shamans

In PVE I’ve had absolutely no issues with the range. I actually like how the class plays in PVE.

However 25 yards in PVP is absolutely awful for a ranged caster.

Because we are dragons that can fly and swoop around. Also dragon magic is weaker and does not travel as far. Sure we have similar healing as a druid but they are more gifted with movement and healing range.

I truly hope so, because otherwise a lot of us have little interest in the class.

Evoker's limited range: Megathread is the big thread on this.

Have not found devastation 25 y limitation an issue thus far. Pres is 30y, that still seems a bit low for healing.

I hope not, I really like the 25 yd range, IF we get compensated in the movement department. I want movement like a hunter, everything casts while moving.

The best that can be hoped for is them bumping everything to 30 yards in a future big content patch. And on top of that, I think a PvP talent to bump the range up would be a fair balance as boy howdy do you FEEL that short range in PvP content.

In an interview Preheat had with team lead on Evolkers the range question was asked directly.

The response was that if they found through feedback and observations that the range was becoming a problem, they would improve the mobility tools first (hover changes or more tools).

One thing I found interesting was the implication that deep breath was designed as a mobility tool with a damage component. Use hover to move out of bad effect, deep breath to get you back into position and do damage along the way. Or reverse as needed.

Just wait until the raid comes and we see a spam of listing saying “No Evokers/Dracthyrs”.

Then, by the end of January when all the vacations period has ended, we can hope they’ll start checking the range issue.

I’m assuming Evokers are balanced with the idea that they can launch forward and cast whilst moving? Might be wrong though.

God no.

All I have really spent my time doing has been PvP, feels fine to me. The only issues I’ve seen where from the couple of melee who have FAR too much mobility, I’ve noticed all the other casters other than Warlock have a harder time with it.

Yeah it does suck if people move out of FB when you want to charge it up, release it early if they are going to walk out… Fully charge it when they are slowed or sitting in a CC. You use ES at lvl 1, the cast is super short at lvl 1 - nearly instant. When we are at 70 you will take burnout, along with engulfing blaze and other talents to buff living flame so low level FB has more value and lets us dish out pretty good damage / healing with instant cast living flame procs.

This goes for both arena and BG’s, Dev Evoker is one of the best BG classes with how useful Deep breath is along with many of their other tools. They are in a decent spot for arena but could be better. Main issue is the couple of SS / SS+ specs out there that need a nerf.

More range would feel good yes, the same can be said for every class in the game, I know I loved Outlaw rogue for that extra range over other melee specs. That said it’s not “needed” to perform, we do fine at 25 yards even if more range feels better.

Assuming nothing changes I would say Dev Evoker is probably A tier, could use more sustain damage. Pres Evoker is easily the best healer atm.

The main thing that throws me off is actually understanding the distance of people on my team. I look at party frames to see if they are within 40 yards, but as an Evoker that information is not really true so I need to be more careful with distance from healers.
