One of those players here. Most fun I ever had in 5 mans was Hours of Twilight in Cataclysm, it dropped catchup raid quality gear. But you could queue. And it wasn’t exactly difficult.
M+ thumbed me in the eye by making heroic 5 mans completely irrelevant. Prior to catchup you might’ve wanted to do some to boost your ilvl for LFR (and it gave the bare minimum ie the worst rewards of any “content”), but now that catchup exists even that would be a waste of time.
Don’t want timers. Want queues instead of pugs. They could give out IWIN buttons for all I care, until they ditch the timer and the IO, which would probably also involve reducing the overall difficulty, I’m never going to be into it. I am not saying it has to change at all, and more power to those who like it, but for me it’s a big whoosh. Right over my head. Sometimes I forget it’s even a thing.
Theoretically if I had four RL friends who played and one was a tank and one was a healer and we could make our own groups, I’d probably at least try that. Haven’t had that many friends playing at one time since TBC though. My group of friends had little post-college dalliances with WoW before they “got real jobs” and “promptly quit.” Me I took a more unfortunate track and as a result, I’m still here since 07.
I mean I may just not talk to people in game that much, but the people I do talk to, hardly any do M+. If it was “the most popular feature” I’d think you couldn’t stand still without running into an M+ player, and that’s not been my experience. Last guild I was in refused to come back to retail out of classic, so I left. It may be over now but when it was fresh I guarantee classic was way more popular than M+ could ever hope to be, for what that’s worth.
It does amaze me, being no raider either outside of LFR, that they could make a game mode that gives good as or better than raid gear while also completely turning me off from it as well, but for entirely different reasons.
Oh, this tired old argument lol. Again, this is only factoring in the people that are left playing the game, and this data is irrelevant, because we don’t know how many subs there are.
I’m genuinely confused what I’m actually supposed to want to do in this game if mythic+ was removed as you suggest should happen Rakia. World content poses no difficulty and never has done, and I raid with guild for about 9 hours a week, which is already a lot compared to most people but we do mythic so it kinda justifies the extra time?
Do I just only play the game 9 hours a week or what?
What do you want mythic+ replaced with, and what does it offer that I actually want to do?
Okay, humor me for second then. How many players do you think are actually engaging with M+ verses the overall population that is playing the game. Can you provide that data to me?
They keep it running because of how popular it is.
I provided you with some data. Can you provide me with any data at all saying another form of content is more popular? All you have done is disagree without having backed up anything with actual stats.
FR. What do these people even want? I’m don’t get it. M+ is the most chewy content in WoW. I have no idea what those people who want it done away with think we would be doing instead.
Cata, MoP, and WoD saw constant sub bleed. Only Legion stabilized the wound and it brought M+.
I would rather get something than get nothing for months on end. At least that something, even if it’s not specifically what you’re chasing, can turn into materials you can otherwise use.
Crest/flight stones aren’t nearly as limited as valor was. You have the potential to fully max several items in a week on week one. Previously you couldn’t even acquire the rating to do that week one, let alone upgrade more than a singular item.
I know that was partially blizz’s goal, and while I think how items get upgraded is an improvement, the pace went from snail to light speed.
And like I previously mentioned, or in another thread, everyone’s BIS is full tier, nearly pure crafted items, and a trinket form m+ or raid. Week two there’s absolutely no reason to do m+ aside from score as long as you’ve gotten a trinket you’ve been looking for.
