Yep, and then they would come back, be silent, and sulk like they always do.
Because we know full well they can’t quit and won’t quit.

Haha, nice edit on that “Arguably” I was going to start a timer to see how long it took for what we both know is coming.
None, I repeat, None of these were promised to be “gone forever and never coming back.” Legion Artifact rewards from Mage Tower actually were. That’s the difference. The other items just disappeared, nothing said about them coming back and nothing said about them disappearing. These rewards, specifically, were said to be going away and “never coming back” and because this was a promise from blizzard to the playerbase playing during Legion when the MT came out originally, that’s what’s being fought for. It’s not the skins, itself, it’s the promise made from blizzard to the entire playerbase playing during that expansion n time.
But the content isn’t cut. The Mage Tower is still there - you can go do it right now.
I… do not even know what you are saying. Can you clarify please? This is not a slam or anything like it, I just don’t understand what you are inferring with this statement. Also allergies are kicking my tail today.
Every time someone makes that claim about mage tower someone comes back with a video of someone cheesing it with some scaling exploits on specific classes that have abilities that the encounter wasn’t designed around them having so it is “easier” now if you exploit certain things on certain classes. It certainly isn’t as hard now as it was at its hardest but the harder challenge/class combos that currently exist are definitely harder than it was at its easiest. But since it isn’t identical or universally harder, pedants will lose their mind.
When I saw you add that edit language I assumed you were aware of that response being inevitable and were aiming to preempt it.
That makes a lot more sense. Thanks.
Weird but… okay? Developers changing their mind isn’t like a samurai or medieval knight swearing loyalty to their lord… ^^
My memory of it is they promised the Mage Tower itself was going away forever so ‘get those appearances now!’. And oh look, it’s been back for ages and people just got on with that. So the promise you’re talking about is already broken. We’re just discussing the rewards.
I’m fine with anything being brought back tbh. All the rare cards, the challenge sets, even corrupted Ashbringer. But my feelings on MT items was them being removed took more out of an expansion than the others. If you missed the challenge set, you missed the equivalent of a tier appearance. Which, when you include the number of raids, the levelling sets, etc in MoP is a hit but not ‘too’ bad. While removing MT weapons removed a sixth of the appearances tied to the class weapon. Which was a major feature of said expansion and a real hit on content created in that expansion.
However, again, not expecting these to return. But, if they did, would expect this to be forgotten pretty quickly.
They didn’t promise about the MT, itself going away to never be brought back, it was the rewards, themselves, going away and not coming back.
LOL I read all of that wondering at what point one of their parents scarred them for life by promising ice cream after dinner, then weren’t able to follow through for whatever reason.
I expect if they did bring this stuff back it would be like when they said they weren’t going to allow mogging stuff like Thunderfury, then allowed it - you saw a bunch for about 2 weeks, and then the novelty wore off.
Nope, those are one of the ONLY things I say don’t bring back. I’m not for ALL things before FOMO, but SOME things are ok. And this one.
Shame all you want, bruh, the answer is still going to be: no. If you do have ice cream for me, though, cool I will take that as well my guy.
A final point about promises. It’s… not even the same team. It’s a corporation. The designers at the time are, for the most part, gone. Of the main team:
Asking the current team to stick to something people said in 2017 seems… a lot, tbh.
What answer bruh my guy? I’m not employed by them, and I’m going to take a stab in the dark and guess you aren’t either.
Can you imagine if they did? Someone else might have a look on their character that I had half a decade ago! Blizzard PROMISED I’d be a snowflake FOREVER!
Edit - On a more serious note, if anyone is interested in what was actually said about content that would be leaving… here you go.
someone said the tower used to have a few druid bear forms and now it only has the one gross green one? Is that accurate?
The tower itself had the same appearance, just plain white (and you could get a few other base colors from achievements). The other bears were all from the base artifacts, and I think you can still get those.
The argument that Blizzard should always stick to their guns is at least one of the arguments I can respect on this topic as long as the person sticks to it and remains consistent (more often than not that argument quickly backpedals to “I just don’t want others to have a thing because it will devalue mine”).
That said, I still don’t agree with that argument. If a promise is made that should not have been made, eventually stops making sense, becomes harmful, or just no longer aligns with goals, then it should absolutely be reevaluated. This is a situation where I think returning these things would be a net positive, I’m under no delusion that some people would be/feel harmed by it, but I think there are more people that stand to benefit.
You can argue that it would damage Blizzard’s credibility but I ultimately don’t think that is really the case in the context of current and past behavior. Assuming they decide to bring them back, I’d argue that them acknowledging that they no longer think maintaining exclusivity and enforcing the time restrictions is healthy for the game is better than obstinately maintaining something they no longer agree with. I think them being more transparent about their design philosophies, perceived mistakes and successes, and acting in accordance with those things is far better in the long run than clinging to decisions made in the past just for the sake of saving face. It is also possible they don’t think the things should return and things will remain as they are, but if they determine it would be of net benefit to the game/community to bring the back, they absolutely should, and they should take that same approach in all aspects of the game, and if those choices end up being a mistake they should reverse course and own that as well. Sacrificing progress and restricting rational decisions for the sake of pride and image is a silly way to operate anything.
No all base colors are tied to the original tint, only the Fel Bear skin is obtainable now.
Blizzard has no credibility lol, that being said the only way these skins should return is in a “FOMO BLITZ” where everything ever removed is brought back at the same time including Ions precious Scarab Lord or nothing at all.
Eh? I’m pretty sure you can get the other bear forms still, you just can’t get the white werebear base skin (and hence, it’s color variants) since that base skin was tied to the tower challenge.
