I think part of the reason some folks get upset with bringing back old looks is that there isn’t anything new for them to go after. If you bring back the old mage tower looks, please put a recolor of weapons to give those of us with the original weapons a reason to go back.
Exactly, if blizzard brings back these things then everyone who already has them gets no new content.
Additionally, if blizzard only brings back the mage tower weapons, then people who have the mage tower weapons are going to be annoyed that something they don’t have wasn’t returned.
For example, person with mage tower weapons doesn’t have scarab lord mount, says “it genuinely is not fair that these people get another chance at the time-limited mage tower weapons but I don’t get a chance at scarab lord title and mount.”
Now THAT would create a GENUINELY UNFAIR scenario - some players get a second chance at time limited content while others don’t.
Since it is quite clear that some unobtainable items will never return - Corrupted Ashbringer as an example - then nothing that is unobtainable should return.
It’s just best to not bring any time-limited content back… just make new things
The fact you don’t see the irony in this is hilarious.
When someone makes a thread SIMPLY ASKING FOR SOMETHING, no, they aren’t throwing a tantrum.
But when someone makes a thread saying “NO THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE SPECIAL, YOU’RE TRYING TO AWAY WHY I’M SPECIAL, I’LL UNSUB IF IT HAPPENS” - that is, by defintion, a tantrum.
Muting this thread now, since y’all clearly don’t understand the difference.
The reason people get annoyed is cuz this topic is a dead horse.blizz agrees that fomo should stay and that’s it…
Get over it and admire those of us with cm gear
They’re very unlikely to do so as some people would scream bloody murder.
My guess, though? They had implemented a series of items from MoP, WoD and Legion that they removed after those expansions ended. Such removal removes content and they’ve never done something like this again - bar the Brutasaur which was a very niche flex mount.
I think it’s a shame they’re gone. I play Pandaren exclusively and unlocked the sets for the available classes - only to curse as DKs and Warlocks became available -.-. And others were taking breaks, weren’t playing the game yet, heck… I had a friend posted overseas who didn’t play and missed them.
That said, I think the real problem is the quality of weapons since legion hasn’t been as good. Most have lacked the ‘wow’ factor of Legions. Fix that? And I suspect you’d get less desire for them to return.
its not really a shame that the MOP cmode sets are gone, it’s more of a shame that blizzard hasn’t made anything better since then.
Pot. Meet Kettle.
The fact that you think everyone that agrees with you is civil and nice. And that everyone that disagrees with you is throwing a tantrum, really highlights your disconnect.
This is exactly what spoiled children do. Stamp their foot, take their ball and go home.
bring them all back to the trading post.
OK, let me ask this then:
Why does another player being able to earn* the Mage Tower Artifact appearances in DF or a later expansion make you feel bad?
Why would preventing other players from earning* the Mage Tower Artifact appearances in DF or a later expansion make you feel happier?
* “earn” is the keyword here; we’re not asking for the Mage Tower Artifact appearances to be handed out as freebies on the Trading Post or as Twitch drops. Just update the Mage Tower for the current patch / expansion. They could still have it be a limited time event (like TW) that only occurs at certain times during an expansion.
Yes, but they’re not always very good. I mean, we had an entire expansion where every generic plate and Paladin armor set looked like .
The Havoc warglaives from the Mage Tower look badass; I don’t know of any other warglaive appearance that even comes close.
This is a loaded question. Cosmetics do not “enhance” your character, so, clearly the answer here is “no”.
But then, by your logic, Blizzard could also remove all cosmetics from the game so that all the classes have a single grey armor set and no one will get upset.
Right?
I mean, they don’t enhance your character, so why cry?
No its not
Yes they do
For example the void elf heritage armor is one of my favourite sets in the game and my void elves wear it all the time.
It really gives off the feeling of being part of allerias army.
Totally enhances my characters experience.
If someone wants to RP as a warden, then the trading posts warden set is a huge deal to have.
Helps you feel as the character, helps others see you as it.
What cosmetics enhances a character is down to the player, but hardly/never used cosmetics collecting dust does not count
OK, but then why would you ask:
when your answer to this question is a resounding YES?
As someone who has lots of mage tower skins and some elite PvP sets and old mounts. I’m okay if they come back. It’s such a bad experience for new players and all players to see something cool and want to work towards getting it, only to look up how to get it and its just “unobtainable”. That demotivates players to even play.
I hate limited time rewards, especially cosmetics. But they seem to be doubling down on them with this trading post BS.
Because there are lots of items in the game.
The vast majority a player will never use.
I have hundreds of mounts. I use around 3.
I have hundreds of bits of mog. I wear like 3 outfits.
Odds that a player would use the removed cosmetics is slim.
So i think its important in these conversations to highlight if people are after specific items for specific aesthetic reasons, and use it all the time.
Or if the items will just be a plus one in their collection. Never to see the light of day.
This is completely irrelevant once you admit that cosmetic appearances enhance your character because they make the character look cool.
You might only use a handful of mounts and transmogs, but many others use far more. Even if someone just wants the appearance for the sake of completion, there’s always going to be someone who thinks it looks cool and will want to use it.
(As an example, go to the Paladin forum thread for selecting the S4 appearance. Most Pally players think S3 is awful, but there are some who swear by it.)
I disagree its irrelevant
If people want the items to return, it should be because they want to use it.
Not so that it can be a plus one in the collection.
“I want the void fantasy and the curve void dragon is the only void dragon in the game. That is why i want it to return. It enables my character fantasy”
Vs
“I want everything that i cant have purely because i was told i cant have it”
If people are going to ask for stuff to return, it should actually be something they plan on using
But we already established that some players will want the cosmetics because they want to use them.
So why does it matter that some other players may just want it as an addition to their collection?
In my opinion at least, “someone does” makes a stronger argument than “someone might”.
Having examples of how it would directly improve the game experience is a good thing.
…Wut? What are you saying here? Are you just trolling now?
Well, at least one player provided an example:
No i mean like if you came out and said what removed item you would want to have, how you would use, and how no other item fills the same role for what youre going for.
Like actual examples of people who want specific removed items and not just for plus one purposes.
