Anime, thoughts?

If you can find a copy of it. Look for “Bad Anime Dubs”, you could only find it at any anime cons during 90’s. Usually you found it paired with Dirty Pair does Dishes.

Mashle Magic and Muscles

I can’t recommend this enough.

I’ve seen Lily C.A.T. and your synopsis is correct. However, I would not call it badly animated.

My introduction to anime was in the mid-60’s when heavily dubbed “cartoons” appeared that were different than anything I’d ever seen. It included Eighth Man, Speed Racer, Gigantor and Astroboy.

U.S. TV stations tried so hard to hide the fact they were from Japan. Not sure why but the stories had depth and action that really kept our attention. This was around junior high school for me.

I grew up watching Star Blazers, Speed Racer and Ultraman with my brother when growing up. Then my mom got the “Jesus is King” bug up her behind and we was only allowed to Watch David and Goliath and Gumby. Then she would kick us outside, and we would go over to our friends house to watch Loony Toons.

I will recommend a few kid-friendly movies as well.

Spirited Away
My Neighbor Totoro
Kiki’s Delivery Service
Howl’s Moving Castle
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

I still remember seeing Kikis Delivery Service back when the Disney Channel first aired it. They made it a big deal back then.

Kid me was just very cozy watching it and this was back when I wasn’t great at keeping focus on things.

Been there with two boys with an oopsie barely 16 months apart! They were born in '86 &n '87 so us mom’s and dad’s were barely figuring out what video games or what have you that was appropriate. I was fairly lenient as a mom though - some said too much so, but turns out they were wrong. I’ve got two amazing men, one just embarking on his first foray into parenthood. This is going to interesting! Payback’s a witch! lol

I didn’t even think that about anime - I just blew it off as not my thing. There’s a lot of people that like Hallmark and get booted. Ignorance is not bliss. (I didn’t repeat to whom you responded for obvious reasons)

Aww hell, worded that incorrectly! I meant find ones for me (adult - questionable, lol) The kind that aren’t meant for children, but for adults. Or, the kind meant for an adult, not a child.

Also, what is something like Blood Zeus considered?

Its a hybrid if I remember correctly. Like Cannon Busters. Written and created by US based artists that a Japanese studio wanted to animate (but got sucker punched by Netflix into animating.)

It’s actually pretty good if one likes Greek mythology. Starts slow, but gets better. Just kept wishing the animation was different. Just seemed off - like they didn’t want to get their hands dirty. I thought it was because I just came off DOTA & Arcane and was expecting too much. They made a mistake, but everyone is waiting for S3 so it wasn’t that bad a mistake.

I’m going back to Attack on Titan. Very happy for some suggestions, but could use anything as good as Arcane

A lot of it is fetishized so I don’t care much for those.

We don’t kink shame here.

This you can solely blame Netflix for. They have this weird obsession to let studios do their own thing or not, be it overseas or stateside while trying to dictate pay wages and hours. Why some of their live action anime remixes have been either on the nose great or muddy manure fields.

IIRC Blood of Zeus and Ragnarök have the same overseas studio (art style and animation are about the same) but Rag gets pretty detailed in their animation despite having lackluster plot lines and questionable look-a-likes (Hermes sure does look a lot like Sebastian from Black Butler), while BoZ should be getting the budget to push for the riskier animation qualities and depth instead.

If that’s your jam I ain’t judging. Some of it isn’t for me though.

There’s some that I did enjoy but then i look at something like elfen leid or dragon ball super and… yeah. that’s not for me

looks to just a metric butt ton of american cartoons that had barely disguised fetishes in them

Braceface and Totally Spies. Nuff said

I absolutely hate this anime with every fiber of my being. The 1st episode was so promising, and everything after was hot garbage. This is one of those shows that got popular because teenage edgelords loved the gore, but the meat of the show is complete trash. I will die on this hill.

Oh yeah I remember totally spies.

I generally like anime, though my unwillingness to utilize Crunchyroll or seek out alternatives means that I rarely if ever see shows these days. Cyberpunk Edgerunners was the most recent show I’ve seen. Most of my knowledge on the subject is otherwise a result of past experiences when I found it easier to view shows, or through cultural osmosis via the content creators I watch.

yeah thats one of those “look i liked it when i was younger. I didn’t know better” things.

Like how I used to watch Inuyasha. Just completely blind to how sus a lot of it was like Sesshomaru and Rin ( and how they eventually have kids. ew. )

Theres a few isekais that are kid-ish friendly and stay away from the harem trope:

Asendance of a Bookworm
So I’m a spider, so what?
Fluffy Paradise
By the Grace of Gods
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
I Shall Survive Using Potions

Those were some of the ones i could think of.
