I usually gauge them by how much blood is spilled and how bouncy the ladies are as to whether my grandson can watch them. But he is twelve and he and his friends surprise me sometime with the risque content they peruse. Pre teen boys.
Waiting for season 3 and The Mighty Nein.
War from Darksiders and Ukitake from the American dub of Bleach. That man could read me the dictionary and I would be hypnotized for hours
I was thrown into the deep end of anime. When I say deep end… I am talking about the deepest and darkest areas of the genre pool, unwillingly and unknowingly.
Was about 9 or 10 when I watched my first anime: Urotsukidoji - The Legend of the Overfiend (those who know, know. Google at your own risk)
Then it was Wicked City, Neo Tokyo and Gojo 13, followed by Ikki Tousen, Dominion Police Tanks, Akria, Project A-ko, Nuki Nuki All purposed Cat Girl, Tenchi, and Ramna 1/2. Then eventually to the more common ones seen on cable network. The Slayers, Sailor Moon, Robotech/Macros, Wolf Rain and Witch Hunter Robin and Dragon Ball.
Also Gaara of the Sands from Naruto. He even dressed as him for a Halloween episode of Critical Role.
Anyone looking to watch more adult-oriented anime should watch any or all of the following movies
Akira
Ninja Scroll
Ghost in the Shell
Perfect Blue
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Demon City Shinjuku
Wicked City
Was he Gaara? Neato! I am not a huge Naruto fan, though I have seen abit of it.
A lot of childhoods were profoundly altered when video rental joints thought that all anime was kid friendly.
Ninja: Resurrection was what got me when I was a preteen.
Also, for the record, people denigrating those who watch anime need to remember they’re playing an MMO, and the offline world doesn’t much think highly of ya’ll either.
That’s a pretty ignorant and painfully pretentious take.
You really not gonna find a kid friendly isekai. It’s a male driven power fantasy. Stick with Ghibli films if you want to introduce it to children.
Mine was introduced to me by foreign exchange students lol. They were very nice and kind, but, yeah they were really into some weird subculture niche things and wanted to share with people…
Fun Fact: Perfect Blue (1997) directly inspired Requiem for a Dream (2000). The bathtub/shower scene is shot for shot.
Can’t forget that Leon the Professional is just a softer edit of Kite (again those who know, know.)
I disagree. I think WoWs art style is good, better than anime but that’s me.
As for anime, I liked Inuyasha and I guess that can be considered anime.
There are other stories that were anime that were really good, too but they’re older.
The newer stuff I dislike, especially when you have real life people pretending to be anime, dressed up like those characters and saying one word over and over just to get clicks and lots of money.
That was weird and disturbing. Smart way to make some $$ and thankfully it seems to have passed but it was very strange and stupid.
And that’s what I think of anime now. Strange and stupid and childish, instead of child-like.
It’s gross to me.
Anime is subject to a rating system like any other media. If it’s rated 16+, 18+, R, or Unrated, it’s not for kids.
Yep, watched that movie and was like “heyyyy, wait a minute!”
Also this. A bit of Golgo 13 vibes there too. I have both Kite and Mezzo Forte sitting on my shelf. Absolutely not kid-friendly!
If you want something really bad. Lily C.A.T. (1987) It’s a badly animated version cross of Alien and The Thing. It’s complete garbage.
Then there is considered the most offensive dubbed anime out there.
Ghost Stories

Makes Blazing Saddles look tame.
Oh ho hooo. I have two words. Angel Cop. The dub is a masterpiece of schlock. Not in an overly “this is offensive” way, but a “wtf is this dialogue” way.
i take a potato chip…
AND EAT IT!
