Let’s see. The alliance hasn’t helped the night elves since vanilla while the night elves have always sent troops to help other races of the alliance. Yea, that already sounds like a healthy relationship. But it gets better.
In the War of Thorns, the horde took away everything from the Night Elves. Their people, their home, their lands etc… The horde is occupying and destroying their lands to this day, and instead of demanding night elf lands back or atleast an apology from the horde for doing more damage to the night elves than the legion and the scourge combined, Anduin tells Tyrande that she is wrong and should just forget and forgive??? Without the horde acknowledging that maybe the unprovoked genocide went a liiiiiittle bit too far even for horde standards?
Is this King trying to have all of his allies dead? Because that’s what it seems like at the moment.
Look at it yourself. Oh I wish Alliance could just get rid of this 1 character. What’s next? Making peace with the old gods under the condition that they will bring their Black Empire back first, but the alliance can still stick around in a dark azeroth? Ridiculous.
Can you please stop making these threads that basically say the same thing every time? We’re all aware of the poor state of things, and the threads aren’t really conductive of any real constructive discussions.
It does seem to feel like the Night elves have left the alliance however blizzard can’t really write it as such because well they are a playable race still.
Im so very tired of this story being so bad. There is some good stuff coming next expac. However everything related to the Factions is just so bad and its such a core part of the experince. I just wish I could go back to my class hall and lead that faction.
Oh yea it’s weird how there are always other efforts when the night elves need help.
Where was the alliance support in the War of Thorns, when the genocide could’ve been prevented? Not a single alliance soldier was there besides the night elves.
Its always kinda bugged me that there was absolutely no worgen fighting the Horde in Darkshore or draenei for that matter. I mean again Vindicaar is a thing that would have really come in handy helping hold of the Horde forces.
“Shandris: You spoke harshly to King Anduin, Tyrande. The kaldorei can ill afford to shun the Alliance. They have provided aid and comfort to us in these dark times.”
Unfortunately you appear to be trying to write an alternative version of events, one that allows you to feel like your favorite faction is still getting kicked around? I’m not sure what your motives are, maybe you’re uncomfortable with the dark turn that Tyrande has taken and would like her thirst for vengeance and loss of faith to be even more justified than it already is? Maybe you just don’t know what to do after you’ve won a war? Maybe you think if you complain enough that Blizzard will take time and effort away from the next expansion to revamp the old world in your favor?
I don’t really care. Just try harder to not make arguments immediately contradicted by your own sources in the future, because this is just lazy.
I’d be ok with this. His speech at the wrathgate is still pretty awesome.
How’s the old writing rule go, show don’t tell? It’s all well and good that she says that but the reality is very little in the way of aid or comfort has been given.
However, within the story, it is established that they provided aid and comfort in dark times, a point that Tyrande does not refute by saying it was ‘very little’ or even ‘too little.’ Rather she makes it very clear that her motivations have nothing to do with dissatisfaction surrounding the Alliance’s support of the Night Elves and everything to do with distrusting the Horde and wanting to see them dead. Now to be fair, within the story we are uncertain the exact extent of the aid and comfort that was given because, as you point out, they don’t show that, they only tell us it happened.
If you can point me to an example in universe to support your assertion, I’d be happy to read it and withdraw what I’m about to say entirely. But as far as I know this isn’t a plot point in game and at no point in the game have I seen a single Night Elf state, “The Alliance has given us a level of aid and comfort that I would describe as very little” or even something more general like “The Alliance abandoned us.”
Yes, they told you that the Alliance provided aid and comfort but they didn’t show you. And they told you that this aid was reason enough for one of the Night Elves’ most experienced leaders to value their place in the Alliance and argue for the acceptance of an armistice, but they didn’t show you. Not showing you does not give you carte blanche to make up the story.
varian helped them.
jaina literally lost her city and people for them.
they helped the darnassians refugees. they gived them comfort.
they send the champion to darkshore.
The alliance went to literal war for the night elves 2 times.
i understand if you are angry but try to not come up with lies when you present your arguments.
in fact, they did show it, if you go to stormwind now you can see the streets filled with refugees.
shandris was fighting side by side with the elite of the alliance during the whole war and then versus azshara.
Yes, they did tell us one thing and show another. Aside from letting the Night Elves crash on their proverbial couch they’ve refused to aid in reclaiming Darkshore, allowed one of the main perpetrators of the burning to walk out of prison and signed a no strings attached peace treaty that denies justice to any of the victims of the Horde’s aggression. That proof enough for you?
When your entire species numbers in the hundreds, maybe - just maybe - don’t start wars with a group that calls itself “THE HORDE”
Something to keep in mind for when the next xpac drops and we discover yet another vast landscape of kal’Dorei lore, towns, and six new subspecies of mutant moon troll.
Did they show you another thing? By all means, since you’re obviously not going to provide any in game quote to support your assertion, can you point me to where it is shown that they provided insufficient aid and comfort?
Or are we just going to change the subject to them not committing military forces and hope that I don’t realize those are two different topics?
Okay, I’m comfortable accepting that you believe the Night Elves fighting to a stand still is the absolute opposite of revenge. But even if you have a legitimate complaint about the Night Elves’ portrayal in war, that doesn’t lend legitimacy to either a claim that he Alliance provided no aid, or that they provided very little.
In fact, I’ll go a step further and say that focusing on an illegitimate complaint, even opening your thread with such a wrong complaint, detracts from what you should be focused on.
