And that kids is why sharding is unacceptable

I was half in the boat with the people that thought sharding just in the starting area, for launch, might be justified.

After seeing this... changed my mind. Sharding has no business, no place at all in Classic.

I will be more than fine, on launch day without sharding... waiting for mobs to spawn for me, even if it takes hours in the starting area, or wherever.

As long as I can *see all of us* glorious Classic peeps! That’s part of the launch experience. The wonder and awe never gets old for me, seeing so many fellow players close by like this.

Thanks for sharing this video and reminding me.

I sincerely hope that the Devs can keep sharding out of Classic.

Shadring?

You people have posted so many of the same threads, so rabidly, that you can't be bothered to spell it correctly?
What you saw in that video is what you will see when you try to go kill Hogger or Princess.

What was depicted in that video happened to me many times during Legion.
I found it extremely frustrating and that was one of the reasons I quit.

Totally agree. I’m no stranger to sharding/phasing, etc., but seeing it in Classic... it’s just painful to watch. I’ve always hated that technology in Live, btw.

lol blizzard don't do this...
Sharding in the starting areas is fine.

If you don't like it, not my problem.

Sharding is a financial/design philosophy.

You can make 1000 of players on one screen handled by a cheap virtual server with current tech.

It has nothing to do with technological server limitations.

Mainly it is to not stress client computers (so game does not run with 3 fps so the experience of the player is not !@#$, who does not want to reduce gfxs)

They have to make customers happy to pay subs, so every decision made is via wearing those glasses.

They have to make customers happy
By making players figure out how to get to the shard that everyone is on?
Dear Blizzard,

Please do not implement sharding as a cure for opening population if at all possible. And do not extend it at all past the newbie area if it is something you just must have.

Like a smart phone, your life is fine until you get one, and then it ruins your life and yet you cannot get rid of the thing.

Do not let it in!

Please!

Sincerely,

Karros

If it was just a graphics issue they could implement a "max number of players rendered" option in the settings, like some other games have.

Regardless of the reasoning, it has no place in classic wow.
Imagine capital city looking for an enchant in trade. If you find someone then you go meet them to get the enchant and you can't see them.

Same with rogues opening lock boxes or tailors making bags.

You didn't need to group up..just show up.

Looks like with sharding you'll have to group up to do any of that stuff.

Sure they could, so do they can cap the each millisec 1000 combat log entry from 10000sources. Not sure combat log analyzer addons will be happy about the no input data errors though

This is going on right now in the demo. Imagine being in a different shard. You run through cross-roads and have no idea this is happening.

Generically claiming sharding is bad is defeatism. (The system will fail no matter what simply because you want it to fail)
Allow blizzard an inch and they will take a mile. That's why people want no changes.

What's said is nothing new and reductive - thanks for adding nothing, yourself.
I pity the fool who thinks sharding is in any way meant to improve the player experience.
It's sole purpose to make life for developers easier just like when they removed talent trees.
But hey, it's not my $130/year.
No sharding. Not now. Not ever. If you don't want to compete in starting zones then wait a couple of days for people to get out of it. Or just group up. I know grouping up is heresy in retail because you should be able to do everything yourself because "you're social at work all day and shouldn't have to talk to people in an MMO vidyer game" or whatever excuse people use now, but you can invite people to your party so that your whole group can tag mobs and get out of there faster if it really bothers you that badly.
