An Eye on Player Behavior and Reporting Improvements

No, no it is not. Doxing is revealing real life information about someone. Name, address, phone, etc.

Your characters are not personal info and don’t belong to you. They belong to Blizzard.

Though, all that is public info, too.

It is a form of doxing especially when you create a fingerprint of the other user and all of their alts to try to call them out on the forums for doing an activity that is perfectly within Blizzard forum rules which is posting on an alt in order to try to strongarm them as a form of harassment to try to reveal information about them so they will leave the forums just because they disagree with you. It is creepy to spend the time trying to play detective on whose alts is whose on the forums to try to out them.

Not anymore though - we don’t have phone books like we used to and revealing that on the internet is considered doxing.

There are rules against that here. Real life info that can result in real life threats is not allowed. For obvious reasons.

No, it is not. It is calling out people sock puppeting. Something that we used to have an forum addon to do called Cogshanks. Yes, Blizz can and will action people for using alts to cause forum disruptions but they are terrible at it! Blue post on sockpuppets https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/en/wow/t/the-forum-still-allow-sock-puppeting/1249307/6

That simply isn’t true. Our Moderation staff keeps an eye out for this behavior, and those verified to be sockpuppeting have been warned against the behavior and even penalized. Does it happen 100% of the time? No, but our staff does what it can as it is reported and verified.

The way reporting currently works the mods see the post as an individual event, not a connected pattern.

Blizz needs to make this forum work like the other ones. Btag posting.

I don’t know anymore. A game should be about escaping reality. We have to experience the; “politically correct”, “social justice” rhetoric enough in our daily lives.

Some of the changes implemented too - removing sexualisation, feelsbadman.

So a post’s number speaks to some sort of invisible substance?

Oh is this your main in game or is this one of your sock puppets? Do you mind if I do some digging like your friend was? I bet you wouldn’t like being called out would you.

Have I really been in this thread for 600+ posts… holy cow.

One of the definitions for queer is “odd”. I apologize if this has already been explained, but I didn’t feel like skimming 70 more posts.

Also, gay can mean “happy”.

“The language filter doesn’t excuse players cussing in game!”

also the game: has a bunch of foul language

I don’t have friends…

And yes this is posting on a Mirasol alt on purpose. You get it now. No, it is not doxing to try to look at my alts. No, not my main.

Under normal circumstances I am required to post on my posting main which I have had to use to for almost 10 years. Mirasol.

You won’t get any real life info about my via my alt, I promise. Further, I don’t try to hide my posting history, or anything else.

P.S. I still have a green char which is Strawberries. I am open about that too.

Hypocrites.

Green but named it Strawberries…

Reported - unless it has red/pink hair

Glad you learned your lesson!

Now, back to my posting char :horse_racing:

Strawberries a stripper name lol

I will continue to discuss with this with you as per my own personal etiquette of replying when I am replied to, though I don’t think we will be getting anywhere.

This is my point. My brother used the fully correct spelling of the most basic of swear words. In no way did he circumvent the filter. He was reported, by players who had the filter off obviously, for foul language. Now, I am unsure if it was in guild chat, general, or trade. All I do know is, the punishment was overturned because my brother did not

“use a misspelling or an alternative spelling to circumvent the content and language restrictions listed above”

Your experience is the complete opposite of mine. I used to talk with people in chat all the time. I have never had the profanity filter on. When I started playing World of Warcraft, I was in the last year of my 6 year enlistment in the US Army Infantry. I am sure you can only imagine they filth that left my mouth during that period in time. I was never reported for any of it. In fact, I almost never remember people getting silenced, banned or punished in any way, unless they were obviously cheating.

On another note, I refused to play a Combat Rogue simply because every Chinese gold farmer did. Still won’t, to this day, even after they renamed it to Outlaw.

Again, I just don’t think we see eye to eye on what responsibility players have, and what responsibility the company has. My solution is to rarely, if ever, talk to anyone in chat. That’s 16 years of veteran World of Warcraft knowledge that I refuse to pass on, because my account is too important to lose when some invalid decides my language doesn’t suite their soft personality. To that end, if you haven’t already made the observation, I no longer need foul language to make people feel bad. I can do so at will if I feel it’s warranted.

Blizzard can cater to a World of Warcraft where all the softest people can have an outlet to exact their revenge via the report button, or they have the absolute hubris to think that rewording the rules will somehow alter human nature and make it so everyone is nice and kind to one another at all times. Either way, the end result will be a specific sub set of people will be able to communicate in the game, because their speech will be protected from reports, and the other sub set will have to use Discord. To be honest, that’s kind of how it works now anyway.

They removed the sylvanis and garrosh bit in english but I’m pretty sure it’s still in the game in french clients lol

There’s still online “phone books”, are they “doxxing”?

I found myself in White Pages and People Finder. Granted, you gotta pay to access more deeper info, but People Finder and White Pages were already scaring me.

Not just that, a full berry mog as best as I could make it.

Gnomes are cute little berries! It was part of something a bunch of CS regs did where we made food themed alts.

-Praise article (that you didn’t read, you just wanted to reply with glowing praise because you think it makes you look/sound good)
-Not realize that it does nothing to actually help combat bad behavior because it commits nothing to human moderation.
