Stereotyping based on a person’s skin color, and not their actions/life experience? Racist detected.
It is the responsibility of white people, whose, in some ways, very existence is harmful to marginalized groups and they must remain cognizant of that truth in history and work to better the place of those who have to fear for their lives when their only “sin” is being who they are.

I mean maybe a bit extreme but also still not wrong. Not taking a side or staying neutral or “well let’s hear BOTH sides out” is a really awkward and genuinely dumb stance to have in regards to racism, homophobia, transphobia, what have you.
I remember when you could just block someone on the forums and then use ad blocker to completely remove their post entirely from vision.
Those were simpler times.

Racism can only go one way, because of the inherent hierarchy that white people reside on top of. “reverse racism” or calling someone racist for calling out oppressors is one of the things classified as a white supremacy dogwhistle.

Only if you look at everything as being black and white. What is or isn’t offensive exists on a spectrum. Some of it is incredibly obvious, sometimes it’s so subtle you could look at it either way.
Just this past week, Senator Maizie Hirono accused ACB of being a transphobe/homophobe because she used the word “Sexual preference” which Hirono claims is oppressive and offensive to trans/gays.
If that word is offensive, then I need to start reporting a bunch of people on this server because I’ve seen many people have “Sexual preference: [insert]” in their TRP descriptions.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, although I don’t feel specifically as part of a “community” there, I can safely say that this stance is blind actionism. I do not require every white person in the history of this planet to consciously try to eradicate bigotry at all times.
I also do not need people to continuously take the words out of my mouth in an attempt to “defend minorities.” I don’t need the “white saviour” or “heterosexual saviour” to jump to my defense at all times. I remember this one girl who dug into me (bisexual) and a friend with benefits (homosexual) for five solid minutes about how “CIS white males like us joking about “a certain practice for intercourse” was destructive to all LGBTQ people.” I have never seen someone become as flushed as that girl when we finally told her we were speaking from experience and were friends with benefits.
For the record: that doesn’t mean bigotry and racism are acceptable. All people have a vastly different approach and skin thickness when it comes to jokes, comedy, comments or portrayal of LGBTQ people. But intention matters, and I am honestly sure that 80-year-old Frank who can barely walk who just wants to enjoy the last years of his life without fighting tooth-and-nail for me has no evil intentions past enjoying the twilight of his life and letting young people sort it out.
Seriously, please stop trying to go up the ladder and find reasons to blame everyone who isn’t actively doing something for being a bad person/in silent agreement/complacent of harassment.

Using extreme’s to make a point. Why? If someone outright says “I hate gays” or “I hate women” that’s explicit. But most of the instances of controversy lately are from things that aren’t outright explicit and are actually really innocuous to most people.
