safe to expect a fix as early as tommorow’s short maintenance, you can go look at the stuff right now on the ptr in the meantime. the fix is on there.

Good to know it’s probably gonna get fixed tomorrow. Was playing around with customization despite having no textures. Guess I’ll finally be able to see it soon.

I’ve been a coder for over 25 years, including hand-written x86, 68k and IA-64 (yeah, that one) assembly. You think I “don’t know what an instruction set is”? Sigh…
BTW, turns out the guy who said it looked like missing fallback code (which you immediately labelled as “an incorrect assumption”) was right, as acknowledged by Blizzard’s developer.
Maybe you should read a bit more and type a bit less.

were you one of the ones that have the older amd cpu’s. reading this thread the common denominator seems to be phenom cpu’s. if thats the case then i have hope

yeah but with the blue post. it felt like a blow to the old amd users. why fix what isnt broken. it sounded like they were saying upgrade your cpu or you are SOL
confirm that there is a fix? is it pretty as advertised? 
nowadays the PTR download is like 2-3gb or something since it shares data with the live client. you can check it youself real quick. i’m looking at all the stuff i was excited about finally so yeah it is indeed pretty xD

yays. i was getting so worried. real life stuff trumps needing to build a new pc rightnow. playing on an 11 year old custom pc. few upgrades but why fix something that isnt broke. im sure this old girl can play newer games fine so why not a 16 year old game. fx core cpu would work on my mobo but the only one newegg has is over 300 dollars. yeah 300 dollars for outdated tech.

I’m having the same issue here as well.
I’ll be honest, I was beta testing Shadowlands and thought they hadn’t finished it!
My motherboard and CPU are pretty old, but up until Shadowlands I’ve had no issues with textures at all.
CPU - AMD A8-3850
Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H
Graphics card - Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 4TB hard drive
I’ve not felt the need to upgrade my motherboard and RAM as the machine runs all games, including the previous version of World of Warcraft BFA perfectly fine.
It is fixed and should be rolled out with Maintenance this morning.

Out of curiosity, is this at all similar to the issue which plagued Mass Effect? I ask because it sounds like very familiar circumstances causing very similar results, and the fix for that particular problem was only discovered within the last few months.
