[AMD] Missing character textures after 9.0

What we would like:

  1. That CS or communication staff actually report this issue to system engineers. It might be an easy fix as long as they get to know it is happening.
  2. That they tell us whether this will be fixed or we shouldn’t expect it, so we can adjust our plans.

*NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745

Additionally? Telling us that AMD has been outdated for some time doesn’t change the fact that things that worked just fine before and haven’t changed, don’t. We’re not having issues in the Maw. We’re having issues with character options that have been in place now for years.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor
GTX 970
Just installed latest Geforce drivers (456.71), no change as I had the missing textures before & after. Have had this setup for years, and always ran WoW perfectly until today.

They’re tracking an issue if you see a staff response, but keep in mind that repairing it might not happen since they decided to stop supporting these older processors before BFA.

Same issue here
AMD Phenom X4 9750 2400 MHz
NVIDIA GeForce CTX 750 Ti 2GB

If my processor isn’t capable of handle it, shouldn’t I had to have another issues as well? Seems like more of an architecture issue for me. Please, don’t make us all spend more money on another processor.

Not just an AMD issue. This happened to my wife’s Nvidia.

It IS an AMD Issue. Nvidia is a graphics card (GPU). It is the AMD CPU that is the common thread. Does your wife’s computer have an intel processor or AMD?

Earlier in PTR I experienced this issue with missing textures and such when running AMD Phenom II x4 955 , between then and me getting beta (and now with prepatch realease, of course), I upgraded to a newer processor (Ryzen 3), and the issue went away with that upgrade.

Given my experiences and what’s been posted here, it seem that this issue is almost certainly processor related.

I am also having this issue. Black hair and skin with no eyes.
CPU: AMD Phenom™ X4 960T
GPU: Geforce GTX 1070

With the exception of a handful of people in the thread (like the reply above), most of the unsupported processors being reported are also paired with unsupported GPUs. If both are unsupported, then the game isn’t going to look good or function properly.

Sadly, as our friend Elocin replied, this might not be addressed if they decide to not. And there’s literally nothing we can do besides don’t play.

I would like to see some method of letting people on old processors play the older zones, but I’m not sure if that split is possible.

I don’t know, we didn’t get to 24h of release, and there’s a bunch of people with this issue, maybe if the number gets too big they’d care for this issue.

Don’t play is certainly on the table, not gonna lie. A LOT of folks are somewhat lacking in disposable income atm.

Maybe, but some players said they reported it at the PTR stage. That makes sense, because the min specs applied there and especially matter now that it’s on the live client.

It is unreasonable to expect Blizzard to support hardware from around 2007 when the manufacturers don’t anymore. Being able to load the game doesn’t imply official support either, it just means you’ve been lucky for a long time :expressionless:.

Hopefully there is some compromise to keep everyone happy.

I live in Brazil, everything that comes in USD is VERY expensive. Just “upgraded” my graphic card from a GT 240, to this GTX 750, and was like a third of a monthly minimum wage.

Technology is always advancing, and games have to move with it or be left behind by the masses for flashier/better-looking titles. I’m not ignoring that it does create difficult situations for some players.

IDK, with so many issues into SL development, this argument would be valid if the game was being well developed. But in the big picture, a sloppy development isn’t out of the question as well.

It’s not a performance issue. This old game runs at high fps for “old” specs. Every single aspect of the game works fine. Same specs run much more demanding games.
Textures missing is a CODING ERROR on their part.

Is it sloppy if the problems are occuring on hardware they said they wouldn’t support at the time they announced Shadowlands? Not trying to stir the pot, just food for thought.

It’s would be more substantive food-for-thought, if other issues were happening other than multiple expansions old textures not showing up. In light of WHAT isn’t working? It simply sounds more like a bitter aperitif.
