Am I only the only person that's pro-high elf not happy with this change?

I think that lore is far more important to you that it is to Blizzard.

Were you this aggrieved when races just popped out of the quantum foam?

Void elves?! raarrgGG!
Lightforged! RAAAAGE!
Moose Tauren??!! INCONCIEVABLE!

If some roleplayer decides to describe their normalized Void Elf as a Quel’dorei, what then?

How so? The sunwell was restored so the blood elves should be returning to all their original features.

By that logic, all the maghar orc clans with different ethos wouldve already taken up your allied race slots for the next couple xpacs at the current rate of release.

No they are not…

So they arn’t High elves anymore, they are the blood elves. It’s something different.

No, Void elves are ELVES, just like Blood elves and High elves are ELVES.

High elf is not a race, High elves are a group of elves, similar to how blood elves are a group of elves. Yes they are both elves but there is a very distinct divide that means they are NOT the same thing.

I’m sorry but when a Taco calls it self a floppy, It’s still a Taco. It’s just now a Taco and floppy. As both names are correct.

Just because High elves started calling themselves Blood elves doesn’t mean they are no longer High Elves.

That’s exactly what it means, If a Christian converts to Judaism, they do indeed stop being Christians.

The Bloodelf/High elf divide was a matter of beliefs. As I said, High elf is NOT a race. The race is elf, so in you’re analogy they can call themselves whatever they wan’t but they don’t stop being an elf, is true. But the blood elves did infact stop being high elves.

they are wrong, and yes, sadly, i do care more about the lore than blizzard.

i was not annoyed by the existence of those races, but i was very annoyed that they were made races when those three specifically are CLEARLY just a power up granted by an entity/energy.

maybe not highmountain, but lightforged and velf, yes. those two should have been a questline for you to unlock as a customization for belf and draenei, like black eyes for night elves.

but, they chose this route, so this is what we have to live with. they’re separate races now.

and your velf will never be a helf. simple as. it’s like trying to play a human and rp an orc, you’re not.

I think you should go find yourself a ion izzocosta’s statement that BE is evolved from HE both in looks and personality!

I’m not in love with it. But lots of races are in this boat.

Wildhammer Dwarves, various Troll species, etc.

It’s better than nothing. Other requests can be made. Paladins are my main thing.

But people are going to. And human don’t look like orcs.

But what about a human who was raised by an orc?

I think some things cannot be worked around. Previous Velf looks were in impediment to accepting them as any kind of compromise. But now it is possible to be creative and inventive in the direction that some roleplayers want to go.

If the idea is that the race will have to have the text or go home, then you might be in for a wait. It took nearly 15 years to get what we will have now toward Alliance high elves.

If someone wants to take what has been given then I can’t blame them. And I am not terribly inclined to emboss my personal ethos onto someone else’s roleplay.

Some RP aspects do bug me, true. But knowing how unlikely the velf customization was, I don’t mind offering some leeway there.

And I would rather foster creativity than squash it given the choice.

I think if the void elfs where originally built with a side story added that showed High elfs joining their ranks and given the customization options off the bat upon creation then Blizzard would have saved itself from a major kick in the pants and we wouldn’t have had to go on a crusade.

In RP your guy is never gonna turn all voidy though… and if you don’t use the rift racial then you’re fine. =P

Turning awesome in battle sometimes isn’t going be particularly immersion breaking.

what if because of the fourth war night elves left the alliance bc tyrande didn’t get proper vengeance for the tree and blood elves are sick of having savage leaders and left the horde. make blood elves and nightelves both neutral races where you can play either on either faction. if you mouse over an alliance blood elf it will read as high elf, and if you mouse over a horde night elf it will read as idk what highborne or something.

Nightborne would be your problem there…

But also… like, what’s that solution for?

Though Nightborne looking like tree-folk doesn’t make a lot of sense considering they’re still arcane. On the other hand, they do have that fruit that is nature based. So… whatever?

Anyways. an unnecessary compromise. You can play a blood elf. you can play a void elf.

and it wouldn’t make sense story wise either. Why break the lore to fix nothing?

what is the problem with nightborne? and how doesn’t it make sense in the story its literally the results of the fourth war.

I think that the current developers have some inherited regrets, flying chief among them but also neutrality.

It fits the pandas well enough, but sets a slippery precedent for other things, especially rolled through the press of what player’s desire in the game.

It suddenly becomes hard to say “can’t be done” when it has already been done.

Because the Night Elves haven’t left the Alliance? … and because Blood Elves aren’t sick of the Horde? If anything, they’ve got more power in the horde now that there is an elven block.

that’s why I started my message with “what if” genius. im saying what if this happened next expansion or something. none of us know what the storys gonna be yet.

I agree its a slippery slope. finally someone with good points.
