1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
Shift + 1, Shift + 2, Shift + 3, Shift + 4, Shift + 5.
CTRL + 1, CTRL + 2, CTRL + 3, CTRL + 4, CTRL + 5,
Fight me, internet.
I use 12345 qerty asdfgh F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 ` and combinations of the previous with modifiers.
In regards to your question, I have no idea.
I use 1-6 or so, with some low-frequency stuff on 7 and 8, and 7 more buttons on my mouse; and a lot of shift/ctrl/alt chording with macros.
I use 6 instead of t otherwise weâre the same. Although I prefer shift instead of alt
I use: 1-5, shift+1-5, ` Q E R F shift+F G shift+G
I donât like using alphabetical keys on their own for binds because Iâm afraid of accidentally blinking into a pack of mobs when Iâm trying to type or something else equally ridiculous. Also, the default keybinds for the various panes is too deeply ingrained at this point.
So what I do is 1-5 and modifiers on numbers and alphabetical keys, e.g. Ctrl-F â Blink (on my keyboard, Ctrl is in the Caps Lock position making it easy to hit).
What works for one person may not work for another depending on the size of their hands, the design of their keyboard, and what is overall comfortable for them.
I donât bind 5 because I have to move my hand up just enough and when I go back I usually end up hitting the wrong key.
The default UI is fine for most things, for those that want certain extra features thatâs up to them.
I use all 12 with an MMO Gaming mouse.
Well, you shouldnât second guess yourself. If your keybinds are letting you do the job, and you feel good using them, it is what it is!
If it makes you feel better, my hands are small, and at most I can only comfortably use 1-2-3 as keybinds (as far as numbers) and I canât use the F keys, so i stick to the letters on the left hand side of the keyboard and use shft/alt/ctrl mods.
If itâs working for you then there isnât an issue, if you feel like you can make changes that youâre more comfortable with then do that!
Key binds arenât ever going to be a one-all-be-all setup, you could probably ask the best players in the world about their keybinds and Iâm sure there would be differences.
I bind all my abilities to the scroll wheel.
If the ability I need doesnât go off in time, it wasnât meant to be.
unless youâre a healer you donât really need a fancy ui addon
Most ppl start off with the keyboard and regular mouse but let me tell you, your life will be changed by getting a 12-button gaming mouse.
I was skeptical at first and didnt really want to drop the money for a good one. I found it super awkward at first because I had never used a gaming mouse before and I wasnt used to it. I also didnt like having to re-learn my rotation. I actually gave up and stopped using it for a while.
I rolled a new character and decided to give the gaming mouse another try. This worked beautifully. I discovered that by gradually adding new buttons with abilities as I leveled, I became much better at finding those 12 buttons with my thumb. Even better, I also found that I could incorporate a lot more abilities without having to jump around the keyboard. Now I donât like playing WoW without a gaming mouse.
See if you can borrow a gaming mouse or buy a cheap second-hand one to see if youâll actually like it. Then if you really.do, you can always get a better one later.
I use 1-9 and 10-12 because Iâm using a 18 button mouse that are bound to other keys like [], e,r,t,z,x,c,v. Outside of that the rest are just Shift/Ctrl+number modifers. Iâm pretty sure most people still use 1-4 as keybinds since itâs kind of hard not to.
Having a mouse with 12 thumb buttons, i have all my abilities on 1-12 with less used abilities on Shift+ 1-12 and further less used abilities on ctrl+ 1-12, and movement abilities bound to left mouse wheel click, main mount on right mouse wheel click.
Iâve been using it for years and can no longer play WoW without the 12 button mouse.
even set up my UI to simulate 4 separate bars of 12 buttons with three buttons per row. so, yeah⌠a bit nutz.
yes u r lol
No? The first 5 numbers on the number bar are prime keybind real estate, second to only the glorious q, e, r, and t.
My mouse has about 19 buttons and I still use the 1,2,3,4,5 keys plus the R and F. All keys do something for me.
So, no ⌠in my opinion itâs not weird. Use what you have.
Yep, I still have all my abilities on 1-= with shift, ctrl and alt as modifiers for extra hotbars. The ones I use most are usually on 1-4 so I can easily hit them along with whatever modifier I need. 9 is for BL/TW, cause thereâs no way Iâm going to accidentally hit that!
I hate using WASD for movement. Doesnât matter what game, I hate it. For WoW, all of my movement is on my mouse. Left+Right click makes you step forward. Mouse look is easy. Then I bind auto-run and mount to a couple other mouse buttons. Most of the time I use auto-run and mouse look.
I absolutely hated how ESO wants you to use WASD to move at the same time that youâre hitting 1-4 for abilities. I got fingers on my hand, not tentacles!
For WoW, I have a bunch of the letters on the keyboard bound to various UI panels, Q: quest, Y: achievement, R: reply, A: auto-attack (donât use that very often), C: character, etc.
