Ok cool how about TL;DR: people are crying about old assets that were introduced into the game as exclusive/time-limited due to entitlement. Making new rewards available will allow everyone to get fresh new rewards through some “earning”.

It’s not entitlement if they’re asking to be able to earn it through gaining rating/conq, etc. Flooding the reward system with multiple sets will take even more development time which they won’t spend on a game mode that attracts a fraction of the players. The best they could possibly do is make a reward track type system that awards a token that can be used on either a new set, or an old one if they don’t like the new sets for their class much like I’d prefer an old rogue set over the current one.
Takes 1 person to recolor an old set & make it new for everyone aka everyone gets a new set, not just the people who missed out.
You take away the exclusivity/scarcity suddenly nobody wants to use it regardless of how cool it is because of how common it is. Azure Worldbreaker is a prime example of that.
Make a Hearthstone Battlegrounds type of track for rated PvP with goal posts for each level & make it participation based ontop of a ‘end of the line’ goal post of ‘get 2k’ for new recolor of an old elite. Have it seasonal.
As I’ve said before, you can have exclusive rewards, skill-based rewards & participation rewards; none of them are mutually exclusive.

Anyone else find it hilarious how they draw the line at titles and mounts staying exclusive? Like just reading the garbage reddit post on this, that’s where they draw the line. Just recolor them and call it a day, sorry if you don’t have the originals but you missed out.
I totally agree on the reward track idea but I personally don’t use mogs/mounts based on their exclusivity. I use them based on aesthetic, color, and if they match my character’s RP.
I suppose some people use mogs only due to their exclusivity but if that’s all something is good for it must not be all that great otherwise. Like, a set could be terrible but since only 0.1% of people can get it I doubt the people that have it would wear it often regardless due to it looking horrendous like some season’s mog sets have been.
I’m down with recolors too. I’d just like a better reward structure that had more earnable items to use for fun in the world. Emotes, titles, cloaks, tabards, illusions, toys, etc. There’s so much they could do that I think would help draw more players.

The same reason there is not a single blue post on this forum after scrolling pages & pages. WoW started as a PvE game and will continue to be that flagship. PvP has only continually lowered in participation year after year because of micro/spammable cc multi-classes (druid/dk, etc), medallion trinkets matched with offensive cooldown timers even though DRs elapse after 18s which means you can pressure again, and the UI is not intrinsically built for players to succeed due to that information either not being present or completely unavailable unless you install & configure an addon.
There’s no shock for the 1st time in 19 years they started doing 6 month - 12 month subscription packages. They are enticing because they are filled with collectibles & presented as a value-added discount conglomerate. But, alas, here we are!

I’m okay with it, I sharded most of my elite gear from past expansions before you could obtain the “appearance” to free up needed bank space.
Some of my old obtained elite sets are lost forever because of limited bank space.

Yep, same.
I lost Cloth and Plate elite sets in MoP cause I just didn’t have the space to buy them.
They should bring back the ability to buy the sets you’ve unlocked in transmog sets like you can now.
We already earned them, give them to us!
Yea a lot of the old elite sets that I earned were wiped.
Kind of stinks that they lost that data unless maybe you xferred the char.

Hmm. If you transferred it with elite gear in bags then maybe there’s a chance it could be recovered? If memory serves transferring effectively involves copying the character and flagging the original as unavailable, and saves some kind of backup/copy.
Maybe somebody more familiar could clarify.

Some streamer got something back that way, there happened to still be a backup copy of their character from that time era due to a transfer. Dunno if it still works that way though, should put in a ticket.

Don’t get me wrong though, even if it’s exclusive & it’s down right ugly most people still won’t use it.
I like my set because it’s blue (my favorite color) & it’s aesthetically pleasing. If it were ugly, I’d use another one
