Allied Races still locked is mind boggling

To be fair you could get all the requirements for the original allied races on one character. Just to do the quest line you needed a max level character on that faction, but I got both Horde race achievement and rep requirements on this mage along with the Alliance ones. Essentially you are grinding twice now.

Soooo they could take the two weeks of very casual playing to unlock them.

Where? When did this happen before? Did all of the horde switch to Blood Elves?

People are going to play what they want to play.

(Unless you tell them they can’t which leads to them quitting.)

They both look like tall and goofy blue/purple elves.

Because you were actually earning reputation with said faction in Legion. In BFA your not, you are earning faction with 7th Legion or Honorbound and not directly with DI or the Mag’har. Just like my reputation work with Kul tiras isn’t going to unlock the Zandalra.

Why should this logic apply to allied races and not other earned xpac-tied content, like transmogs and mounts? Isn’t the real problem the players’ way of considering all content older than 2 seconds chopped liver?

Not entirely, but close enough. The horde elf population is so high that Orgrimmar isn’t an orc city, it’s an elf city with spikes.

Two weeks apparently == eternity these days, based on this thread and others like it.

Not defending them because I’m not a fan of the current system either but they DID say that you’d have to unlock them.

It’s not like they lied about anything.

With distinct facial features and standing animations.

Making them unique

Actually, pretty sure the truth is: it’s a bad idea to make players play and complete rep grinds on one race/toon, just so they can repeat the process to play the race/toon that they wanted to play. Do you get it now? If not, you probably are a “don’t get it” type.

The game has always locked content behind a grind. This is no different.

People’s nostalgia goggles are on pretty tight it seems.

Completely raw.

I have unlocked all the available Allied races except High Mountain Tauren. Only need about 6K more rep and I’ll be done. Also, I have completed everything to unlock Kul’tirans and just need to finish up the last part of the War Campaign stuff on my Horde. That being said, I think all the Allied races should be unlocked for everyone whether they’ve completed the requirements or not.

Yet WoW literally gained 85% of returning and new players the past 2 months.

See, I can make up stats too and use the term “literally” incorrectly.

I will agree on thing. The 4 original being only available in BFA while requiring legion rep is a really really poor decision. With that said, mag’har and zandalari/dark iron and kul tiran are leaps better just because they’re both obtainable in the same expansion they’re introduced. If all future AR are like that I wouldn’t care. They are a reward for rep.

While I agree the numbers are 100% made up and not valid, your interpretation of those numbers is equally as bad.

If I have 30 people and 50% leave I am down to 15.

If I have 15 and 50% leave I have 7.5

so on and so forth

I was so angry when I bought Gran Turismo and I had to grind out all the licenses to drive on the cool racetracks

What I am saying if you tally up all these reasons people insist are why people are leaving there should be 4 of us left.

I have been waiting to play again for when Kul Tiran humans come out. I thought at Blizzcon they said you wouldn’t need any reps at exalted or do anything crazy to unlock them, but now it’s revealed you need exalted reps and complete an extensive questline.

At this point it’s hard to find the motivation to grind out rep and complete a long questline to access content that was advertised with the expansion announcement.

Id feel sorry for you. but the fact that I had none of them drop, despite playing all of Legion seems to be disrupting the sorrow…
