Yep still not fixed for me either. I might try and make another battle.net account and see if i can get anything to show up there.
Is this getting any movement besides being a known issue? Just got home from work and still can’t create my Zandalari. It is literally the only reason I came back to the game.
Howdy, y’all! I had this bug as well! Can’t promise I have the solution to your particular variant of this issue, but I do have a suggestion or two.
In my case, I reactivated my account after having been away since the start of BfA. My account was flagged as “Newcomer” or “starter” status, though my account settings didn’t show that. It was something under-the-hood or behind-the-scenes. There are a number of issues with this, unfortunately. The ways you would normally “graduate” from Newcomer status don’t apply if you have my particular variant of the bug.
For starters, you can’t manually leave the Newcomer Chat. You will be greeted with a nasty system error, saying you can’t manually leave the chat channel.
Next, there’s something to do with time played? Rumor is, 30 hours is enough to graduate you. This didn’t work for me. I was clocked in at 37 or so hours and still no change to account status.
I tried changing my password, as the support page in-game requested. That didn’t change anything.
The final option was reaching a specified level on a new character. I assumed this was something like Lv20. It wasn’t, sadly. I had to reach Lv50 to graduate. At which point, I received a system message informing me of my graduation. After logging out and back in, I was able to see the allied races during character creation!
So… Do me a favor? See of you have access to the Newcomer Chat channel. If you do, try getting a pre-existing character to Lv50. If that doesn’t work, try making a new character and blitzing to Lv50 as quickly as possible.
Thanks for this post. Some good info. In my case, when I left I deleted all but one lvl 120, and created a few level 1’s to hold names. I can’t bring myself to just power one to 50.
All I wanted to do was come back create my Ztroll and have some fun going through the whole leveling process. That’s how I have fun. Guess I just have to wait.
Your solution does make sense and I would recommend people who have the time and inclination to give it a try.
I to returned from the beginning of BFA, and leveled a new warlock to 50 already and it still exists. I do see the guide tab when I log in so I assume it has something to do with that, but cannot find a way to disable it.
Seems like they could put something in to see peoples oldest achievement and tie that to the newcomer system.
I stopped playing back in Legion and came back recently and leveled up a new character from 8 to 50 (DH) and am still stuck in newcomer chat and can’t make any allied races – so the leveling up “fix” isn’t really working for me sadly ;_; I’m just glad I haven’t purchased the expansion yet so I’m not losing out too much – but I’m not really sure if I will even purchase Shadowlands at this rate if this bug continues to persist… Back to FFXIV I suppose
I was really hoping to go into SL with a vulpera, does anyone reckon i’d be able to get a refund? Ill probably repurchase when/if they fix
Same problem here sucks I wasted a bunch of time and money to come to a problem that hasn’t been resolved in a week with no response
I’m going to just have to wait until it’s fixed. Making a new character that I don’t want to play, then leveling them all the way to 50, just so I can play as the Vulpera, which I already have the achievement for… Nah fam. This doesn’t seem like a hard fix, but I guess it must be because there is no excuse for this to take a whole week. Maybe the bug is just hidden among spaghetti code idk. I bought the shadowlands heroic edition, I don’t want that to be a waste of money. No Vulpera = Waste of money in my eyes, especially after I did the whole questline.
just hit 30h timer and got a message saying ive graduated from guide chat. backed all the way out and when i logged back in I CAN SEE THE ALLIED RACES. good luck all
would be cool if they fixed this so i could play the new expansion with the character I want! oh well, guess that’s life
This is ridiculous. Come back after years and years away, excited to play new races(new to me) so i rush the achievement to play vulpera and I cant even play them. Not a good look for returning players at all blizzard! Cant even get a reply to tickets on the topic in almost 48 hours to boot.
So, update: I had a lvl 50 character that had about 26 hours played (checked using /played) that I used to do the allied races unlock quests and rep grinding, so I played for another 4 hours to hit 30 hours total, then the second I hit 30 hours played I was removed from newcomer chat and now I am able to see and create allied race characters.
So I highly suggest everyone having this issue also do this, especially since whatever character you used to unlock the races in the first place should have a decent amount of play time.
Glad you got it working. As I have stated previously, back when I left I deleted all toons on all servers. I only kept a 120 DH who as everyone knows is now 50. On this particular account my oldest achievement shows 2008. I am by no means a newcomer. My sole reason for coming back was to play a ZTroll. I shouldn’t have to level something up to 30 to open up something that should already be opened. I have very limited play time and just feel like this issue should be fixed rather than doing a work around. Especially since it was one of the selling points of the expansion.
What’s your playtime on the DH? if its in the high 20s you could possibly afk on that for a few hours and see if that gets you graduated from newcomer chat
My level 50 that unlocked the races has around 50 hours and I still cant see the allied races unfortunately.
may try that when I get home from work. If the que isn’t 2 hrs again
Not sure on his played time right now.
And blizzard told me that that the newcomer chat is unrelated to the problem… lol support isn’t very helpful
I’ll say they aren’t… I put in a ticket 4 days ago, never got an answer, checked back today… My ticket is no where to be found. Not even in the archives. It’s like they just deleted my ticket and I got no email about it being closed or anything like that. I’m amazed at how this was all handled. I only wanted to create a new allied character for SL.
