Alliance Winning AV (On AV Weekends Only)

It’s still somewhere between 1%-5%. I’ve been queueing AV for 2 days on an alt (7-8hours each day) and have won only 1 game.

Ive lost 2 out of my last 6. Not earth shattering but it stands out to me because I went months without losing and the games were no contest. Perfect wins almost every game. Granted, when queues are 2 hours Im doing one game a week at most, maybe 2.

Its felt different the last two AV weekends.

I think you’re the one who missed the forest for the trees, friend. You’re answering the question “Is it worthwhile to queue for AV”, not “Is AV balanced”.

I’m well aware one can lose repeatedly and still get rep/honor. In fact I daresay most alliance are all too well aware.

And if you’re going that route, compared the honor/hour to the other BGs as well and it’s clear why AV is a loser.

2/6 is a non sample size.
I’m currently at 1/36 since thursday night.

Then that’s a Yes to both questions? AV is relatively balanced especially for a non-mirrored map. And AV is still worth doing, it’s just that the average AV Alliance just play it poorly.

In AB and WSG, you can actually premade and you’re in full control. Thats why Alliance premades opt to go WSG/AB. No one wants to play with AFKers/lowbies/ rep farmers to drag your HPH down.

Av is not balanced.
Stop pretending it is.

Alliance:
15 years of alliance dominance. “Totally balanced”
1 year of Horde dominance. “Please fix!”

Coincidentally, it only changed because the faction ratios changed. Hmmmm

You mean dominance in vanilla when everyone sucked and Horde didnt’ turtle.
Then TBC where Horde won every game by turtling for reinforcements when the new meta was discovered.

Guess what we’re still on that same garbage TBC map but with out reinforcements. So instead of the games ending in 20 minutes from reinforcements we end in 30-hour with the same Horde winning outcome.

Its always been possible but on the weekend the decent alliance pvprs also que I saw the great spitter classic Chad in av yesterday of course he hid in the back.

/shh you’ll confuse him, he doesn’t understand that horde tactics right now are not what has been the norm.

Erm, how is it a yes to either question?

No, the way the map and GY is set up, particularly the horde cave res, the map is not balanced. It is easier to defend and with less people key GYs as horde. Alliance needs to play significantly better or horde needs to decide to not defend despite it being much more convenient to do so as horde. Alliance apathy plays a part as well, but this is easily 15~% of the horde’s winrate.

And no, it is not very worthwhile to queue for AV as alliance. The honor is slow, the rep is slow, the items are soon to be replaced/outdated, and with the winrate/rep per game where it is right now it doesn’t even do the job of being the lazy man’s option very well.

Like I said, this weekend shows the winrate it could be if alliance tried all the time. Let’s see some data. You need a minimum 30 games for a proper sample size, so if you’re going to play that many please let me know what the win/loss rate is.

I’m betting it’s still pretty damn poor for alliance.

So you’re admitting it’s a player issue. The exact same map afterall it’s just that the PLAYER-made strategies were different? Then the obvious solution is to find a new strat, not whine to Blizz about changing the same 15 year old map.

I gave you a hint why the horde turtles now, and why the alliance didnt. FACTION BALANCE. Horde waits 2 hours for a queue so they have every incentive to grind you out and win. Alliance were overpopulated in Vanilla too, and they won every game because they had the incentives to

First, you’re not on the same map. TBC moves the cave back, and there’s also other big changes.

Secondly…did you just say Horde won every game in TBC? LOL, what battlegroup were you in? Alliance won at least 90% of the time when I played, and that continued for as long as I was active in battlegrounds…which was pretty much only until Cata. Yeah, Horde could play defense, but they didn’t. A zerg loss was more efficient than a long drawn-out reinforcement win, so it was just race vs. race and the map favors Alliance for that.

Where in my statement did I say it was a player issue?
It’s 100% the map and nothing else. You don’t have a 99% win rate in AB/WSG pug v pug or prem vs prem.

In AV yes. Towards the middle of the reinforcement meta. Why do you think the cave got changed and pushed back? Horde finally figured out how to abuse IBGY and the cave.

You said it “Everyone sucked” which implies that both teams were of a similar level. So if the same map, has a difference player base now, it means it’s a player issue.

Think of it like an experiment. The map is the controlled variable in this case. So if the success rate is different despite the map being the same one for 15 years, then its clearly a difference in player skill.

Very basic elementary stuff

In TBC you only spawn at the cave if you control no graveyards. You’re only proving you don’t know how the battleground worked post Vanilla.

 I don’t think you should try to use science experiments, either. You don’t seem to know how they work.

The strategies and how the game is played is very different than 15 years ago. It’s very possible the map was imbalanced 15 years ago as well, but players back then never played as we do today.

Your experiment proved there’s a difference in player skill, correct. Players today are better.

It doesn’t prove anything about how the map is balanced.

Even if that was the case since yes it’s been 15 years so forgive me for not remembering every single patch note change. You still spawn at the cave closer to all objectives and have the best choke in the game. You got SHB for free (defenders advantage) and could push onto SH before the alliance could even push their first objective.

If anything with the cave ressing how it works in classic it makes the situation even worse.

Yes everyone sucked and knew nothing. Now the Horde know the 1 thing that works and has worked since TBC. With cave ressing this makes it all that much easier.
