Alliance needs a slam dunk Allied Race

I can only imagine a dev discussion who think like does guys.

Dev1: Ok so we realised that Legion was way more alliance focused than horde. We might give the horde some love in the next expansion.

Dev2: Got it. We got them destroy a alliance city in the pre-patch.

Dev1: Great! And then both of them a going to have some win/lose battle through the expansion?

Dev2: Nope. The alliance are going to win everything after.

Dev1: But what about giving the horde more love that we talked earlier?

Dev2: Weā€™ll gave them 3 cgi cinematic.

Dev1: Oh great! It will be some cool character development for the future of the horde?

Dev2: Nah, just Saurfang being sad. Then weā€™ll kill himā€¦

Dev1: Wellā€¦ okā€¦ So weā€™ll give the horde more love the next expansion i guess?

Dev2: Nope. The cinematic are it. Next expansion will be like legion but worst for the horde.

Wrong.
It wasnā€™t the reason why blizz chose to make a story about horde Blood Elves.

So i see that you have no more lore argument about why would the HE be that important to the alliance since WoWā€¦

And heā€™s argument is just bad. He claimed that the HE were such a part of the alliance. i show him how useless they have been over the last decade and his response is thisā€¦ I just donā€™t see how this make them more important for the alliance.

The chapter where you rescue Tyrande is a little more dramatic if you play it on a Horde character because of her prejudice against your character. Itā€™s basically automatically more interesting because of that, whereas if you do it as Alliance there isnā€™t really any special dialogue that stands out. Most people actually like having their choices and their actions acknowledged in RPGs. So yes, if thereā€™s any faction bias in the night fae campaign, itā€™s in favor of the Horde.

Well sheā€™s the margrave and heā€™s just a baron, which is a lower position and also the title you get at renown 40 (not even max renown). Also she narrates the Afterlives animated short for the necrolord covenant, not Alexandros. The only Alliance character who talks in an Afterlives cinematic is Uther, who doesnā€™t hold a position of authority within the Kyrian covenant because heā€™s a villain for most of the campaign.

On Reddit someone asked:

How far into development of bc did the team decide on blood elfs. At the time you where there, did they consider blood elfs as high elfs, or think of them as 2 different races?

Xelnath, who worked for Blizzard, said:

They were distinct pretty early on - the Blood Elf starting zone was one of the earliest pieces of BC content and was highly polished by the time we rolled into testing.

I do remember a certain poor 3d artist having to chop the Silvermoon city into pieces because it was so overloaded many GPUs would overheat just loading it.

OH - one thing I vaguely remember was that Blood Elves were based on a STRONG request from a poll of asian players (either korean or chinese - I canā€™t remember which was live at that point) - where many remarked on the horde side that they and their girlfriends wanted a non-creepy femme race to play.

This is supported by The WoW Diary by John Staats:

We were also puzzled by the high churn rate in Korea (25 percent). Churn was the measure of how many people were quitting the game. North American churn was amazingly low, at only 5 percent. The producers had expected a lower churn in Korea and sent inquiries to those quitting as to why they dropped out of the game. After looking at two years of Korean gaming magazines, it was apparent the Koreans didnā€™t enjoy playing the ā€œmonster racesā€ of the Horde. In Korea, monsters were to be killed, not played, so it was beginning to look like the Korean servers might not be as full as we had anticipated.

They really donā€™t. Mechagnomes can get a lot of better enhancements like having a transmogable arm weapon like megaman when they are ranged classes for example. Skating shoes etc.

Kultirans just needed skinny humans to go along the kultirans which was needed since day one. Horrendously advertised race.

Dark Iron dwarves just need more customization. They are one of the most adored dwarf races. Hopefully they get to do that.

Canā€™t defend draenei or void elves tho. They are both random and unnecessary. Iā€™d give alliance arakokras and botani as races. Horde can get the saberon and something else. Hopefully elephants? That be cool.

They can be like Iron Man!

WILD!

Nah. We take botani and let them saberon.

This heavily contradicts what you are trying to argue. By a lot.

With your logic everyone would be a mechagnome because they have the best racials. Hint: Itā€™s not about the racials.

I do agree with you, these days I find it hardly to believe Racials have anything to do it with it anymore, although previously Iā€™d say it did. Plus Stoneform, Shadowmeld are insanely good in my opinion and still are!!.

Personally I rarely use Racials until I started Co-Maining my Alliance Shaman whoā€™s a Dwarf, made life so much easier with Stoneform.

I think the issue now is Race aesthetics and they go were itā€™s easier to get content done. While I do love and want new races for both Horde and Alliance, I highly doubt it will change the issue NA hasā€¦

Itā€™s too darn expensive to Faction swap, in all honesty I think this plays a huge role in why the unbalance continues Iā€™m not saying if you make it free it will fix the problem but certainly would help!.

Another issue itā€™s already far well known itā€™s easier to go Horde to get into most content, I know people who have never touched the game but already know to pick Horde as the level of entry to Guilds, Keys and content in general is easier.

Itā€™s going to honestly hard to try get a ā€œeven spreadā€ of Horde and Alliance this late into WoWs life. New Races that are Aesthetically pleasing and unique for Alliance is truely just a tiny piece of the cake. It may sway a fraction of players but not the majority.

In short theirs truely no easy solution even in a perfect world say Blizzard removes Racials from PvP, Raiding and M+ and make server/faction/race changes for free if switching to Alliance I still donā€™t think it put a large dent in the popularity of Horde.

People are now comfortable, theyā€™ve settled in. I just think theyā€™ve let the ball roll to far and picked up too much momentum itā€™s just nearly impossible to stop.

Edit: But in saying all that, Iā€™d rather that small piece of the cake with getting more races and swaying a few to join Alliance then have nothing done at all.

Youā€™re taking anecdotal comments and implying that was the MAIN reason. Itā€™s not.

Yeah. Exiles is good. That Silver Remnant.

Why should the Void Elves lose their name?

Like I get some of yaā€™ll wanting to get a tag change option but entirely changing the name to something unrelated to the Void Elves seems vindictive to me.

Better option is the sub race system that bounces around once in awhile. Gives us all choices but doesnā€™t take any away either.

We just wanted High Elves to be an Allied Race. Soā€¦ here we are still.

because that is no longer what they would exclusively be? Just like how ā€œforsakenā€ is not the actual name of the race but instead it is undead.

Of course it was named that from the launch of the game but still it reflects the reality of the race.

It wouldnā€™t be a change unrelated to void elves either. It would include them along with all of the exiled thalassian elves.

Broken for the Alliance and Naga for the Horde

Not sure why youā€™d punish people who enjoy Void Elves thoughā€¦

Like Iā€™d hate that change personally.

If its valid for you to want your races name to match what you play it shouldnā€™t come at the expense of the race its onā€¦ Which is why I say, an option for a name tag change I get. That leaves people who like Void Elves alone while still helping you out.

Void Elves are still void elvesā€¦

We donā€™t have any lore indicating that the SC or even groups like the Highvale Elves are involved at all.

We just have some high elves interested in the void showing up. We donā€™t know who they were or are affiliated with.

Naga for the Horde? Most folk I see asking for Naga want them to go Alliance.

Iā€™m good with either.
