The four least played Allied races are all alliance. Mechagnomes, Kiltirans, lightforged Draenei, and dark iron dwarfs. The 5th lowest finally comes in as a horde race, highmountain tauren.
The alliance really only has one popular allied race; void elves. The horde has Zandalari trolls and Vulpera, both home runs and outnumbering long established races like gnomes. Even Maghar orcs and Nightborne are decently played.
Needless to say, our allied races have thus far been underwhelming. If we do get a new race in 10.0, I hope it is something awesome, people asked for, and well crafted.

Metallic diaper babies, fat humans, glowy goats and burnt dwarves. The alliance on the whole, is an uninspired mess. Yall need something and preferably not something stolen from the horde.

I vote Sethrak. They’d be a great counterbalance for The Alliance + being an new and unique race.
(Really just want they playable. I do prefer them for Alliance though)

I remember begging for Sethrak early in BfA. It was plainly obvious the Horde were getting Vulpera. To end up with diaper gnomes was one of the greatest disappointments I can remember.

The thing is… the Alliance has gotten the best allied races.
Mechagnomes have the best racials package, overall, by far, among allied races.
In terms of raiding, Dark Irons have the best allied races racials in current content (Fireblood - and Stoneform for that matter- are both very strong in P1 Mythic Sylvanas).
As far as aesthetics, Void Elves are top.
Blizzard has already bent over backwards to cater to the Alliance in terms of allied races.

I personally have no issue with the Mechagnomes.
However I do feel the Alliance got shafted, in that Horde got a whole new race while Alliance got subraces.
So yep, still want my Sethrak and still have some hope I guess. They didn’t completely abandon them in BfA at least.
There’s good potential for the Sethrak to have some solid racials as well.

Just allow draenei to have a eredar skin. Problem solved. After 2 weeks, horde players will be on the forums crying about their dying faction.

Alliance should have got Sethrak.
Blizzard hard trolled with mechagnomes and it was obvious with how beyond broken their racials were on PTR at the time. They knew nobody would touch this allied race otherwise.

The Alliance should have gotten the Nightborne. The Horde had no business taking both the decent races of Legion, and they already had their magically inclined “city” elves in the form of the Sin’Dorei.
Leaving the Alliance with the slapdash 0 effort Lightforged was a joke. The Kul’tirans are… interesting, but have vastly limited appeal. The Dark Irons are honestly well done, but again, the appeal of Dwarves will always be limited, and the Mechagon Gnomes are… I mean, they’re gnomes. And the Gnomes absolutely did need more content and an outlet to expand on their lore and presence, but that doesn’t change the fact that their always going to be a hyper-niche race.
Compare them to the Vulpera. Yeah, they’re short, but they represent the sum total of all the cute fluffy animal pics, videos, and other media that make up the closest thing the internet has to an official religion. They’re weaponized marketability.

Well water breathing would be a passive, increased swim speed, and for a racial perhaps a buff (like the old days) that gives 5% to all stats. maybe 10%…

I don’t even know if they are going to even make any more allied races. We had none this expansion. Those numbers will only keep getting worse too with Alliance getting even smaller and smaller and nothing will be done about it sadly.
