The vorkai from Ardenweald look more youthful. The female ones (see: Korayn, the third night fae soulbind) have noticeably large eyes. Alliance would be getting screwed again just like it undeniably was in BfA
Edit: Also in response to some of the mendacious claims made by others in this thread about how blood elves were always more of a Horde thing since before WoW, people from Blizzard basically admitted that they gave blood elves to Horde because South Korean players weren’t sticking around in Vanilla WoW, and their research indicated that one of the reasons was that South Koreans didn’t want to play the ugly characters on Horde.
I know controversial, but if WoW ever does implement some sort of better character create with selecting a primary race then sub-races I think High Elves would be great for the Alliance.
Regardless how peoples thoughts are on them they are still apart of the Alliance, in Lore and History, back in RTS days to novels even in WoW.
Subrace system could be select Horde or Alliance, go Alliance > you select Elves > then select which which variety, Night Elf, Void Elf, High Elf, even if they did have the same Racials/Classes as Blood Elf (less the green Fel eyes as customisations, that strictly should be Blood Elf and no Warlocks), I think people want the tag High Elf more then anything really. Let them have “High Elf Mage” as their character tag.
All these new sub races can be easily just added in and starting zone be Exile Reach, faction be Silver Covenant lead by Veressa Windrunner.
Regardless on population issue on High Elves, theirs still more then the “crack team” of Void Elves, and most races new or old are fighting on the brink extinction, Darkspear Trolls nearly got wiped out if it wasn’t for the Orcs/Horde and Goblins are just a boat full of survivors, Gnomes aswell nearly got extinct.
Edit: Also Draenei are a space ship of survivors aswell.
Blizzard has been bending over backwards to placate Alliance players for the last decade: Alliance has better racials, better cities, the story caters to them (the last Horde protagonist was in Cataclysm…), and their main characters actually stick around, whereas Horde characters get killed off like dogs.
I was doing the Night Fae campaign the last few days, and it’s such a ridiculously Alliance story. Not only do the main characters constantly insult you as Horde (even at the end after you’ve rescued everyone), but everything is Alliance Alliance Alliance. Ysera sends you to rescue Alliance souls and they come back and have dialogue with Tyrande. Where is the Horde equivalent of this anywhere in Shadowlands? Oh right - Horde characters don’t matter.
But… but… but… in the Necrolords campaign you also go to the Maw to rescue somebody. Yeah - you rescue a HUMAN.
Tyrande insults you if you do the night fae campaign as Horde. IIRC Shandris is not mean to you at all. I think it’s actually neat that the developers went out of their way to write special dialogue where one character acknowledges the player as a member of a hostile faction. Also the following chapter is the first of Bwonsamdi’s two chapters.
Also Draka is basically the leader of the Necrolords; there isn’t a covenant whose leader is an Alliance character or a character of an Alliance race
And the night elf… i mean the night fae leader basically insult the only horde character in the zone which make it clear that the super important troll after life is in reality nothing in a NE lover zone.
Even the old HM tauren hero doesn’t even care at all about tauren and doesn’t even talk about them. He is only there to save a alliance leader.
Except the new super important Ardenweal dragon who is no more than a night elf affiliated character.
That’s a much more forgettable line than the one where she vouches for you when talking to Tyrande. Basically due to Blizzard’s Horde bias, Horde players are rewarded with a marginally more interesting version of the night fae campaign.
The role Ysera plays in the night fae covenant is much smaller than the role Draka plays in the necrolord covenant
I made a thread about it at the beginning of the expansion on the lore forum. Of course many alliance player couldn’t admit that the zone is like a love letter to the NE.
The worst part is how its also nearly destroy a horde super important fantasy with the afterlife of troll. Its end up being no more than a small not important dungeon and we aren’t really accepted Ardenweal…
This is true but then, again, the next expansion wasted the money on three highly expensive cgi Horde cinematics. The Alliance didn’t get those during the more important saga, no?
Wait what??? This guy manage to find horde bias in alliance zone??? In a alliance expansion where the horde do nothing but looking at alliance leader doing everything???
Draka is only one of the four house leader. She isn’t that important of the necrolord people and she isn’t more important than morgraine.
Meanwhile, Ysera is the focus of nearly all the levelling questline and is the epilogue of it. She also became a super important character for them, above all other spirit and being only beat by the winter queen herself… She is basically revered by them now.
Yeah those cinematic about that great horde leader that… isn’t even horde anymore since he died… I guess that blizzard can just make 3 cgi cinematic about Anduin and than just kill him off right?
The Saurfang cinematics were bizarre because he was barely in the expansion.
Horde players only saw him 3 times: his cameo in the intro scenario, the quest in Swamp of Sorrows, and the stuff at the end outside Orgrimmar (which Alliance also did).
