Again the issue is with the Nature of there quest. They are given a direct incentize to hunt Horde, the Horde are not given a direct incentive to hunt alliance.
The Horde are doing there WQs while fighting alliance who directly get in the way, the Alliance are out doing WQs and specifically going out of there way to hunt Horde.
This is causing a Hunter vs Prey Scenario, because the mentality is changed based on the overall goal.
IF the horde were given a kill 50 alliance quest in place of there incursion quests the Alliance would go back to being camped even with there now higher participation.
There’s really no coming back from this one for Blizzard. They can’t/won’t take the quest away from Alliance now because it will piss off too many Alliance players who didn’t get the opportunity to do it. They can’t/won’t take the rewards away from the Alliance who already did it. Either of those will just increase the backlash.
The best they can do is give Horde the same quest now. Not wait until next week.
That’s probably the best that can be done at this point. WIth the number of Alliance groups running around now maybe it will even things out finally.
Ultimately, I don’t think Blizzard gave much thought to WM. And their reaction decisions appear to be very lazy.
Which is too bad. It’s a missed opportunity from the start to make WM something interesting and fun.
And I don’t think it’s a player base issue. Generally speaking, I think most sides just want to have fun, and from the start WM hasn’t been fun for a group of players. It’s a game design issue that Blizzard hasn’t been able to solve. Based on what they’ve done so far, I don’t think they have much interest in solving it.
This quest actually got me to turn on warmode last night.
Went to Darzalor in a group of 5 guildies and killed some horde. Unfortunately, after getting 6 kills, the horde caught on. Next half hour was a waste of time with almost no kills as a group of 15 horde plus NPCs farmed the 5 of us as we rezzed.
After that went to one of the Tortallan quest hubs. Much better… there was a group of 60 or so Alliance tagging individual horde as they rezzed or exited the Tortallan quest. Only took 10 minutes or so to get the remaining 11 kills I needed.
Until this week, at least, Horde was still in the substantial majority. They could just shard and have a good chance of ending up in a Horde overflow shard where they could keep their 10% without having to fight any Alliance.
That Horde are now talking about turning war mode off is actually a good sign for faction balance, since it means they can’t always count on an overflow shard to run to.
'Cause they’re the ones who have never known PVP except in 8.0 when the Horde outnumbered Alliance by something like 10 to 1. They’re used to having 10 to 1 odds, so actually losing sometimes in PVP is a new and upsetting experience for them.
Some will get used to it, the others will turn war mode off. Same thing happened to Alliance in the first week of 8.0.
That will just result in the zergs sticking around and camping Horde for even longer to get their 25 kills. I’m pretty sure most of the Horde whiners would like that even less in practice.
It would actually do the opposite. The large group of Alliance would disperse, trying to separate so that someone else doesn’t tag a target making it more than 5 people, which will therefore not count as quest credit.
They (we) can’t spread out. There’s only a limited number of locations where there are Horde to be killed. That’s why there are zergs in the first place - lots of questers and only a limited number of “mobs” - Horde - spawning. No point in spreading out to places where you can’t complete the quest due to lack of Horde.
Alliance faced overwhelming odds for months before a fix. Horde can at least wait for a couple of weeks to see if the quest goes away. If as large a proportion of Horde turn off war mode as are claiming they’re doing it on this forum, the quest will go away.
Yeah, pretty hard to raid Dazaralor with just 5. You can pick up some kills but you have to leave when the Horde manage to semiorganize a defense. Saw a group of groups that probably looked like a full raid to Horde yesterday night, though - that was enough to camp the lower half of the city until it got late and people started logging.
Obviously turn off War Mode in the inn that’s nearby, or just go somewhere else and turn it in later. Dazar’alor isn’t the only place getting camped. The Tortollan quest areas or flight points would be getting camped as well.
Horde are not upset because they’re outnumbered and losing; Horde are upset, because Alliance are receiving a reward that the Horde doesn’t have access to for WM participation.
Everyone is on the same page, and is genuinely happy that Alliance is participating in WM. The horde are unhappy, because the method by which this was achieved is indisputably unfair. I had to play arena for 6-8 hours to achieve challenger this week which has guaranteed that I’ll receive 1 400 ilvl item next tuesday – alliance have the Warfront active, the AOO quest, and have the opportunity to particpate in arena and heroic raids just like we do.
They have a source to free heroic raid quality loot that we don’t have access to that they’re completing by camping flight masters, and that is why we’re upset.
The loot you’re attaining has wide-reaching balance ramifications and consequences across a veritable plethora of varied gameplay spectrums.
Stop trying to misconstrue the justifications we have to be upset, because you clearly don’t understand the central cause of our complaint.
The same thing did not happen in the first week of 8.0; because Horde wasn’t receiving free 370 ilvl items for killing alliance players participating in WM in addition to the other sources of 370 loot that were available to players at that time, while the Alliance received nothing for killing Horde.
That literally isn’t a thing that happened, so stop pretending it did.
That same thing literally did happen the first week of 8.0. The difference is you weren’t getting a piece of loot for it. To try to claim that it didn’t happen though is being extremely delusional.
Logic doesnt play out horde dominant every form of population controlled PvP BGs and Arena, they cant be winning the majority of “even” playing field PvP situations but be used to “outnumber” the alliance.
The Majority of people inclined to PvP (and of that some choose to improve at PvP) are still on the Horde. Until some great racial change that takes the more “serious” PvPers on Horde and sends them back alliance side like in MoP
