Happening to me for a long time now, only on my night elf hunter. Go through the portal, disconnect 1-3 times, when I finally log back in I’m in Felwood.
Happened to me yesterday and today. After 10 attempts and thinking I wasn’t going to be able to play this character until Tuesday’s maintenance, it worked. But I ended up in Felwood. This is not the first time this has happened to me.

Happens to my NE DK too. Bumping this thread in the hopes we get a fix.
Ugh. Still happening to me as of 14 July 2020. Always 2x disconnects, eventually end up in Felwood graveyard to the east of Whisperwind Grove.

I have same problem on one character only, works fine for other characters. Why does this happen to one character?
I wonder if it could have anything to do with Zidormi. None of my other NELF seem to be affected.
I wonder if using the darkshore portal after having turned back time with Zidormi messes it up after you try to go back? The terrain is different in both version of darkshore…

I fixed the issue on my character by using old darkshore (not present time) by talking to Zidormi in Darkshore and it never crashes anymore, but I can’t do the current time world quests unless I talk to her to change the timeline. The crash is directly related to the timeline you’re using for darkshore. I think if you ever changed Darkshore timeline to old and back, then you will get the crash on the current timeline and need to use the old timeline all the time to avoid crashes.

Same issue… over a year later.
Usually I crash and get logged out, then I log back in and get teleported all the way over into Felwood, but today, I keep logging in and getting immediately kicked back out.
What gives, Blizzard? Surely this isn’t that hard a fix… and really shouldn’t be an issue for over a year…

I don’t know if this will work for anyone else, but as a priest, using levitate before using the portal seemed to finally do the trick. I tested it with and without levitate and consistently fell through the world without it. It appears the levitate spell correctly positions you above the ground.
Maybe get a nearby priest to give you levitate or buy a levitate like potion from the Ah before going…of course I hope this can just be fixed.
Hope someone finds a use for this info!

i can confirm using a sea mist potion before going in the portal doesn’t cause the disconnect and falling through the world. kinda sucks to have to use this work around but better than nothing.
