Blizzard said there is no Technology that would help to allow more players on a server in 2022…
We are just potatoes I guess ;D
Can someone for the love of jebus spit some info at blizzard please.

The tech exists but might not be able to work with the coding they already have.
That said, this company isn’t known for telling the truth anymore.
Anything is possible given enough time and effort and money. Depending on how they have developed them to begin with they may have so much technical debt in their code that they have endless spaghetti to undo.
So server tech from 2012 probably not ideal then?
Blizzard is like NASA, when then should be striving to be more like SpaceX.
They’re BSing, they have the technology to run all these servers, but if they simply used the money they use to pay off assault allegations and put it into their actual hardware funding, the problem would be solved…
Edited my OP to hopefully clear up some confusion since people lack critical thinking and think its “dismantling my post” when they are arguing a point I wasn’t trying to make.
Instant gratification - Everyone screaming for a fix and have it done like, yesterday. It’s completely fine that you guys want them to fix it, but it I wouldn’t expect them to pour the funds required to make it happen anytime soon when these issues are temporary. I KNOW they do most things, if not all things, for profit and this version of the game wasn’t going to be any different, so why did you think it would be?
that by the time it was done it would no longer be needed.
- Yea, no longer needed for a multitude of reasons such as people quit, moved servers, or any other number of reasons. Don’t have half the issues if people just spread out but god forbid you dont have 14,999 other people to group up with for a 5man at 3 in the morning.
17 years to fix queue issues - Yep, never said they didn’t have the time to do it. The reasons you don’t see these issues on retail anymore is: More servers, Cross realm zones and sharding, and cross-realm raiding. When you don’t have to cram the entire games population into a single server in order to do group content and raiding, people will naturally spread out helping reduce problems.
I am in no way, shape, or form, saying they should not have seen it coming, or found a reasonable fix to the issues that some servers are having. I am also not defending them for having done things that may or may not have contributed to the problems. I am only stating that yes, they admitted fault and a portion of the problem. We will NEVER get full details on the exact problems causing the issues so all the armchair server managers and designers can relax or apply for a job with blizzard if you truely feel its such an easy fix.
Pretending that we, the players, have not added to the problems in any way shape or form by thinking healthy servers are dead and leaving them for clearly already overpopulated servers is honestly the most baffling thing to me. Placing ALL the blame squarely on blizzard… I constantly see people here on the forums calling Pagle DEAD when its far from it and encouraging people to leave it…We add to the problems by claiming we love the community and how server identity means something and then leave at a whims notice stranding others who can’t afford the transfer fees, killing more servers in the process. Blizz didn’t force you all to move, you chose to because preceved issues that arn’t real. We gauge realm population on these third party websites like IF:P that only account for a portion of the actual player base. Keep it classy guys.
You guys read way too much into things when there is nothing to be read into and it shows.
I won’t be replying further in this thread, its no wonder I avoided these forums for so long.
It is absolutely no wonder to me anymore why there is a severe lack of communication between blues and the playerbase - They give us any kind of info and we… blow up and shoot the messenger and call them names and treat them less than humans, like their only reason to live is to lie to us. They should just stay completely silent.
OP Below:
I mean, they did admit its a software/design problem. They would have to spend so much time redesigning it from the ground up, that by the time it was done it would no longer be needed. Everyone just wants instant gratification and solutions but in reality, without knowing the exact setup and problems there is no way for us to know or even begin to speculate on how to fix it.
They’re very likely telling the truth. Currently, the game is optimized around single-core performance, with some other duties offloaded to multiple core. I can’t imagine that the server side of the software is any different. Databases can be upgraded, sure, but we’ve all heard of the spaghetti code nightmares here and there, so it wouldn’t surprise me that it’s core locked (not single thread, but can’t optimize based on the modern extensions that CPUs have in 2022).
Changing the engine (for the client) or the server side of things to take advantage of this new tech could absolutely break the game in funky ways, so they likely can’t do much. I’m sure they’ve tried in their own way to optimize, but Development of code these days looks considerably different than 20 years ago.
So you’re saying a multi billion dollar company making its billions off players shouldn’t INVEST in those players long term??
Very interesting strategy.
TIIIIMMMMAAAAAAAAAAY
Not even close to what I’m saying, but sure go and speculate.
Likely. Remember, corporate America is all about short-term gains, screw the long term losses.
Imagine calling being able to log on and play the game “instant gratification”.
Lmfao
Come on Timay. We both know they should have already have been working on some serious upgrades…
I mean retail is a burning dumpster fire but they had to have known people were going go nutty for wrath the best expac in wows history
Again, not what I’m saying at all. Reading can be hard, I know. The forums have blown up so much with people complaining and wanting solutions 30 years ago.
If they’re being honest. Big if. Which I personally don’t believe. If… they might have to rewrite everything from the ground up like they did for flaying in cata.
I’d imagine that’s a huge expense with little payoff monetarily.
a game WE PAY MONTHLY for at that
You sit in your 4 hour que and you like it sir.
Anything to put down “those damn millennials!”
Please clarify what you mean by instant gratification then?
He is going to shake his cane at you, WATCH OUT!
Fact: Area52 is over two times of Grobbulus… Queue is ZERO.
