All Monks Need to Yell for Changes

They could just use the animation they used for Jab back in the day and put a black trail on it.

That’s not bad but I mean, they could do alot of things. As far as I can tell, their entire monk strategy is to do as little work as possible on the class. It’s like trying to avoid as much homework as possible. Putting a black trail on Jab is still more work than their current (almost) no-work solution.

I’m not entirely convinced the Chi-ji nerf wasn’t mainly a way to make sure it’s never competitive and thus never need to revisit it later on with more work.

Imagine defending such bad changes and design, and furthermore even calling that guys point useless when it’s more useful and relevant than yours.

Question do you use sims? Because that is one of the dudes that writes the base math for our sims

What am I defending?

I wouldn’t bother, these people confuse viability with competitiveness.
Most of them want to sit in a circle and only hear from people that share their exact opinion.

I’m not worried about it. There are more than enough players on and off the forums trying to make meaningful change and keep the class moving forward rather than just yelling for change and then replying “don’t care”.

Shadowlands launch is delayed so maybe new hope for enough time for more changes?!

Good for Blizzard. This was 100% needed. That beta had bugs that would easily be considered alpha bugs.

This makes me happy. A happy Pyro is good.

Yeah they would have made the mistake and done beta for shadowlands.

We might still get betalands despite the delay

Pre patch is pre patch that’s not launch

Well it depends how long they delay it for. I think many expect 4 to 6 weeks. I do not think Blizzard will be able to achieve enough in that time, but at least could release something that is not broken.

This would still mean a betalands release.

Now if they delay it more than 6 weeks, it likely means SL does not release this year as that would push it into a Christmas launch period.

Remember there is a dark horse in the room which is the developer exodus Blizzard has just experienced. It was this developer exodus to 4 other new studios, I believe, was the deciding factor in the release delay.

Think about it, many beta testers were reporting the game is not ready, yet Blizzard continued business as usual.

Morhaime announces the foundation of 2 new studios which many Blizzard developers went and joined, on top of those who already recently left to join 2 other ex-Blizzard created studios; and within a week SL is officially delayed.

Blizzard had to accept that it was not business as usual and the call was made. So when you factor in what is happening with Blizzard, a SL release this year could definitely be a BL release.

Adding my voice to the list of voices here…

As you can see from this character, not only did I give up on WW, the experience was so bad that I left BFA after Dazar’alor when I saw that the spec was being left on the road side again.

I really wanted to play SL, and for the class to return to the magic it had in MoP, and even through a good chunk of WoD. I was so hopeful about things like the Chi Ex inspired legendary (RIP), and after hearing about the Shadow Priest rework I thought maybe the devs were finally at a point where they could make the changes needed to revive Windwalker.

Then September happened and we got ignored again. Even after being promised changes and communication just weeks before.

I put a sub on just to play pre-patch and see if there is any hope but if Windwalker is still a ghetto pet class with more minions than a demo warlock (SEF, covenant summon, Xuen) in a month when my sub ends, then you’ll have lost another customer for another full expansion.

They claim they still need more time to fix stuff, no new release data has been given yet meaning they themselves don’t know when it will be ready by. This does not bode well and people will wish there was not a delay announced. Why? Because my guess is that they will choose to launch shadowlands Jan/Feb of 2021. There are small windows to launch before Thanksgiving and before Christmas which is a problem. Can they launch before those Holiday? Possibly, but my bet is they will hold off until Jan 2021 release.

I’m beginning to wonder if this is not a WW Monk problem but a physical damage problem.

Many classes can ignore armor through the use of magic damage or bleeds. If Monk and Subtlety Rogue and Outlaw Rogue weren’t competing against armor, where would their damage numbers be for Nya’lotha?

The reason I’m curious about this: For Shallowlands, Deep Wounds for Arms Warrior will be significantly less bleed damage. I want to call it out now because their Mastery is getting tuned to be like combo mastery, where their abilities will do more damage to targets affected by Deep Wounds, while Mastery rating will increase that percentage.

That is, I think you’ll see Arms Warrior also struggling to scale throughout Shallowlands. Maybe if everyone is like Monk then Monk won’t be so Monk (? Blizzard Logic ?). But I think you’ll still see classes that don’t have to compete with armor emerge above the rest of the pack.

Edit: I used speech to text write this and just now getting to fix the typos.

While I’m not sure what the overall ‘developer exodus’ looks like (unless Blizzard was willing to share numbers I doubt that’ll ever be fully known) it is important to remember this isn’t the first time former high ranking Blizzard employees have formed new companies.
Additionally, it’s probable that the Release date was a thing from Blizzard as a company not the developers making the game. It would take a fairly strong argument to convince marketing analysts that releasing as-is with post-release patching would lose money compared to a pure delay.

I like to think Blizzard learned from BFA. They can’t do this post patch fix stuff anymore. I wish they would understand that borrowed power isn’t the correct way as well. I’d rather they make new talents and more raids/instances. Think of all the things they could do if they weren’t trying to fix these conduits and such! They just need to learn to take their time with new expansions!
