Maybe they are remembering the movie?
The case for Gnome Paladins is pretty simple.
It could be tied to the desire for justice & the reclamation of their home. Human & Dwarf Paladins guide the wee-folk to the path of retribution, nab a pony, toss some holy armor on it.
The crusade to cleanse Gnomeregan has begun.
BAM!
Gnome Paladins.
(Plus we get our home back as a capital city.)
Mostly because lore, something they stopped having a big care for in SL.
Please stop trying to make the game FF14, go play that instead.
So no real reason then.
Ba dum tsh
I was about to say that I think the movie confused the issue since I’m pretty sure Gul’Dan and his followers were greenified just from contact with the Fel there and Mannoroth was never mentioned.
They threw lore right out the window when it comes to race/class combos in Cata when they allowed NE to be mages. I can’t think of much more lore breaking than that.
I think it was just to truncate things for time/simplify it for the non fans.
My personal opinion is that race/class combo restrictions are good and interesting where it makes sense and strengthens racial identity. Like in cata theres a reason the new class combos that made sense thematically are super popular (Dwarf shaman, Troll druid, human hunter) vs ones that didnt (Orc mage, Tauren Priest, Dwarf Warlock)
That being said, with allied races and changes to lore over the years, it doesnt really make sense anymore and they should just open the floodgates. Clinging onto the past is a boomer mentality, let people play what they want. Even as a meme request over almost 2 decades its not like theres going to be a ton of people trying to quickly reroll to tauren rogues, just let people enjoy their niche appeals.
Probably. Though ironically I think simplifying the story too much is part of what held back the movie’s success. It’s really difficult to distinguish from any other mediocre fantasy movie. I wonder if they had instead chosen to tell a story from Warcraft III, which many consider to be the height of the franchise’s storytelling, if they would have enjoyed more success.
Speaking of this, was there a reason humans weren’t hunters originally all the way back in Vanilla? Was it number of combinations vs the Horde or something?
They needed to treat it like the sonic team is doing with their movies and plan ahead for multiple sequels. Sonic 2 was hyped up with knuckles and Sonic 3 is hyped up with shadow.
The warcraft movie was planned as if that was going to be their only movie ever so they tried to make it as broad as possible which simultaneously didnt appeal to diehard warcraft fans very much or to strangers not familiar with the franchise.
Its purely a numbers issues. Like trolls for example can be any class but they arbitrarily made it so zandalari cant be warlocks just to keep a weird quota.
This is why it doesnt make sense anymore for class restrictions.
The game has been trying to be like it’s other versions where the player just chooses a race and just plays as one of those units from the rts. But with an (essentially third-person rpg) kind of missing out on the rp bit.
That’s changing though, so fun times ahead.
I didn’t know if there was lore that humans hated hunting or were afraid of animal companions or something.
Humans had Mc Donalds was the lore reason.
Why hunt when you can just get a Mcdouble?
No they were cleansed of the Fel. They should be golden, red and rustic type of hues just like their gold aesthetic in Silvermoon and armor.
No purple belongs to Night Elves.
Void Elves should get black and white. More deep space feels. (cosmic) I would totally dig these colors for them. That is just my opinion. I would be psyched to roll either one of those. Or you know what it could be just vulpera or nightborne (I guess purple would need to be re-used for Nightborne for obvious reasons…) too. Anyone of those would be happy to hand some money over for.
They do raise cattle and always have cheese on them.
Nah, pre wotlk they had a wierd quota they tried to meet that said “no race can be more than 6/10 playable classes”
Theres no other reason than that. Dwarf mages/warlocks and troll warlocks were a late addition into cata beta because they realized it was kinda stupid to not include them.
theyre fan base dont deserve it
