Advice on a missing CE battle pet

I’m looking for a bit of advice from y’all. It seems my Cataclysm CE Lil’ Deathwing has just disappeared, showing up as “uncollected.” I put in a ticket to see if there’s a way to resolve this and they asked for the game key.

But here’s the issue: I’ve moved several times, had several crappy roommates who “borrowed” stuff and never gave it back, so my CE box is missing things now. I still have the box and some of the items, but no game key to be found.

I sent a screenshot of the box, knowing that probably wasn’t going to be of much help, and asked what else could be done. They replied with needing the game key, but since I provided the screenshot, they might be able to get more information… but never really said what information.

Does anyone have an idea of what else I could submit? At this juncture, I’m probably just screwed, but wanted to at least ask here if anyone had some thoughts.

Thank you!

Just want to point out that you’re also missing the CE achievement (Collector’s Edition: Lil’ Deathwing), so the issue appears to go further beyond simply losing the pet.

Hopefully someone else has a better idea as to what is going on.

Unfortunately, Thallia, we’d need the game key if you can provide it. Looking at your account I can see Wrath of the Lich King CE, Warlords of Draenor DD, and Shadowlands Epic, but I’m afraid I do not see a Cataclysm license. Nor can I find the Lil’ Deathwing achievement, which you’d get when you received the pet.

If you had that key that would help us to track down where that license is. :frowning: Sorry, Thallia.

Yeah, that’s the weird part… I’m not sure why it’s like that. That box has been my pride and joy since the day I ran out at midnight to get it. So strange that it’s just… gone and the others are fine.

Me too. :sob:

But thank you for the input!

For curiosity sake: once a game key is attached to one account, is it at all possible for that key to be yanked from the account and transferred to another? For instance, if someone acquired packaging with a used game key on it, is there a process where they can make a claim to that key via ticket, perhaps falsely state that they were always the owner of it, and ultimately have the key put onto their account and removed from the original?

What’s scary is I don’t have my CE keys for TBC, Wrath or Cata either. Like Thallia I’ve moved several times and don’t have those boxes anymore. What can we do now to prevent this happening from us?

It hasn’t escaped noticed that she’s missing a CE pet during a time where people are losing the store bought items.

Yeah, you guys need to fix this. It’s very strange that purchased items are just disappearing.

No. The entire game could be moved between Battle.net accounts, but individual expansion licenses can’t be removed or transferred.

No, the key would just allow us to track down if it was used and what account it was part of.

Not sure if this will help you at all, depending on what you still have from the CE box, but I just checked mine for the game key location and it’s located on the instruction manual contained in the game CD box. If you still have that then that’s where it’d be.

You are confusing the apparent missing Collector’s Edition for a single user, with the known issue that can happen with purchased cosmetic items. They are not the same at all. It should also be noted that we have recently received an update on that issue.

Both situations are equally problematic when the goods people purchased with their real money are just removed and there is no course of action for the player.

Is there a way to get our CE keys from opening a ticket? Is that information Blizzard could give us? I can provide blood samples if needed to prove I’m the person that opened this account.

(exaggerating of course)

I can’t say with certainty what happened in Thallia’s case, but as I mentioned before it has nothing to do with disappearing cosmetic items.

I shall do a search around and see if I can find it. Thank you!

Assuming there is an issue, yes, it may be cause for concern. I have no intention of casting doubt on Thallia’s recollection, but at the moment we have zero evidence that a Collector’s Edition existed on this account. There is no Cata CE license listed on the account, there is no associated achievement that would have been received by redeeming the pet (something that would remain with the account even if the pet was somehow removed).

At the moment, with no other examples of someone experiencing something similar, it is entirely likely the Cataclysm CE is attached to a different account entirely. (With that said, I am not dismissing the possibility that there is an issue, but without evidence and more sample accounts, it is best not to jump to such conclusions).

It should also be noted in the case of disappearing cosmetic items, the license for that cosmetic remains on the account. It is only the cosmetic itself that is temporarily unavailable to the character, there is otherwise evidence that it was purchased and exists on the account.

No. It doesn’t display like that on the account. I can look up the key that you’d provide and our system can tell me what WoW license it is attached to but it does not work in reverse to give me a key.

Hope you’re able to find it!

Is it possible you had another account linked to a different Battle.net account? If so, and you registered the CE key on that account, then transferred this character to another account on a different Battle.net account, that would cause the pet to disappear off this character.

No, my second WoW license is on my same Bnet account and was never really used. I had one character on there that I never played. The third WoW license was created recently, in BfA, but also had nothing on it.

I’m ripping my house apart to see if I can find the missing pieces out of my box. The whole thing is mind boggling, honestly. And pretty depressing. But… I’ll do what I can.

Thanks for the idea. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello,
just as a question somewhat related to this subject, is there anyway for support to move/honor a CE on the same battle.net account? I was really bummed not being able to use my Netherwhelp on TBCC despite having him on my current license since WOTLK and having the key claimed on my original license. I still have the original Key and everything in my CE Box.
I wish the OP luck with their issue and thank you guys for all you do for the community!
