Kinda like Classic Era (no lfd) and Wrath (lfd)?
The choice would have existed. Play Vanilla to experience Vanilla. Play Wrath to experience Wrath. But Blizz didn’t want that. So now you get Retail Wrath instead.

Yeah they are some real pieces of work for pulling this on us. Milked some of us for years then bent us over hard. I’'d call them pieces of something else, but even abbreviated that got me a 24 hour ban last time lmfao.
Same gaps can be bought of AH or crafted by a max level in trade.
1 BS, 4 engies, 1 enchanter, 1 LW, 5 tailors, 1 alchemist, 1 JC
Now that I have all my crafting profs laid out, engie and alchemist was useful. To add, enchanting was useful (DE, enchanting gear) and JC was useful (BOP trinkets).
Take BS waist. I can make a lvl 6, then lvl 13 mail pieces. Then 45 resist belt, the first useful belt is imperial at 47. Dawn at 53. Obsidian and Ironvine at 60. Fel iron at 61. Khorium at 70. I’ve never worn any of these on my pally in combat. I’ve also never used a weapon I’ve made. All sharded to level up skill.
Again… Heartseeker.
Also, I like to be self-sufficient, even when I’m playing on a server that has an active AH.
My point - professions can be quite useful if you want them to be. It’s really up to the individual players to decide. When it comes to engineering, I hated how it plugged up bag space. And it’s way too tedius to level. But that’s me.
Again obviously blizzard doesn’t have the resources or the desire to put that type of effort into dealing with Bots.
If it was that simple it already would have been solved that’s my point
They’ll have to play the game! Quelle horror!
Killing dungeon boosting without removing the one-time limit on 70 boosts shows an extremely concerning - but not even remotely new - disconnect between the people in charge and the people who actually play the game. Don’t let any of these randoms who are gonna quit a week into wotlk fool you, nobody wants to go through the leveling process for the 100,000th time in 18 years. Blows my mind how you people would rather annoy us instead of making more money off us that we would gladly give you to skip the worst part of your game.
You are banning boosting in dungeons. What incentive is there to get people to run dungeons again when quests are much faster? I propose dungeons 50% more xp so it will be rewarding getting a group together and walking all those ways to the dungeon.
I don’t believe this will completely eliminate boosters. I’m sure it will greatly hinder them which is what you’re trying to do but they will still find ways. What about boosting through quests and so on? I feel this not only affects boosters who afk at the entrance but also people with good intentions who help their friends out with a dungeon as well when they can’t find a group to dungeon with. I personally feel that instead of making changes that you actually ban those people who are boosting for gold because they are actually making the community worse.
Please give this more thought,
Thank you
Ok, you are going to stop boosting by monkeying with XP in dungeons when a high level is present. You are going to make leveling alts easier with a 50% boost to XP. You claim that DF is not classic but modifying dungeon XP and boosting XP for alts (or anything for that matter) is good for classic. WOD was the first XPAC to offer a boost for low levels questing with the potion you could buy. After that it was just added into every XPAC after “because players want to spend more time with end game content”. What you are planning to do in Classic is EXACTLY what is destroying retail and why so many people switched to classic. The game was about exploration, having to group up for difficult mobs, grinding everything, not just rep for the latest, greatest badge gear.
You want to slow down boost spamming, install DF. I personally will never look at LFG channel again and the boosters can spam all day long. People that want to pay for boosts can turn LFG channel and spend away. People that want to run true dungeon 5-man groups can use DF or got to LFG and compete with boosters. No code changes needed, no monitoring LFG to stop boosters. Hard core players can still control their world and casual players can go about their business.
Don’t tell us about “pillars” when you plan on turning classic into retail with your changes.
TBC was the first expansion to add an experience boost. Recruit-a-friend was a 300% buff. Lots of people used it. Wrath added Heirlooms, etc, etc, etc
The XP buff they are adding is an event. The XP nerf is going to be going through into wrath, so people will be boosting less.
This is kind of a bad argument. There has been plenty of things that are “methods of play” that Blizzard doesn’t want. Look at diseaseless blood dps back in Wrath. It was a “method of play” they didn’t want because they saw it as bad for the game.
There is precedent for this sort of thing.
make it significantly more difficult to endlessly snare and kite enemies…
I leveled in SoM with this doing dungeons with my friends and it made my frost mage near useless in dungeons. This may be effective against boosters/gold sellers but it also makes doing dungeons less fun entirely. Why can’t you just be better at banning boosters and gold sellers instead of ruining the game for people who actually want to play it.
The only encounter in a normal (non-boosting) dungeon run that I can see being affected by this would be the nonelite zombies swarming around Lorekeeper Polkelt of Scholomance. I haven’t played SoM but if there are other dungeon encounters hampered by this change I’d be curious to hear. A single fear/incapacitate/stun/silence refreshes their susceptibility to slows/roots for another 30s
Heck, throw a grenade at em!
People who’re buying dungeon boosts aren’t playing the game.
You seem to be conflating some things, here.
Blizzard is trying to curtail poor behavior and encourage folks to play the game as-intended. Experience bonuses are not new. Rested XP has been a thing since Vanilla launched. We’re currently getting a 10% bonus on kills when we get the Summer Fire Fest bonus. There was Recruit a Friend, and a number of other situations where we got bonuses to experience.
You’re right, they’re not. THIS experience bonus IS new, though.
So? It’s temporary. Sit it out if you don’t like it.
But now I can’t level my mage solo in Utgarde Keep…
Isn’t that developing my character?
That was never the point. The point is that THIS increase IS new, so you can’t compare this to features that WERE in the game before.
There’s always new stuff added to games. It’ll be okay. We can talk this through, if you want.
