Addon Channel Spamming - it's against TOS

Answer the question. Where in the ToS does this addon actually break when it is not causing any harm, or breaking the ToS

Or I can right click report everyone doing it because my ignore list is already full so its the only way to put them on ignore now.

So let’s take your flawed logic:

You have multiple gold spammers doing the same thing, auto-advertising gold being sold or selling Mythic+ or Raid runs.

This would bother you.

But your logic is so bastardized to one side you won’t see this logic because you think “I find it helpful and I don’t like change” when there is clear abuse by the addon spamming a channel in the game that should NOT be touched by any API in the game.

My point is this: addon’s should have NO access to auto-post information into trade chat. Do you realize how out of control this will become as time moves forward? This is an issue. API needs changed to allow the author to only create another channel for the Addon. Other using the addon will get the same channel

Problem solve. But instead players like you want to complaint about a logical complain for the sake of complaining. Period.

Because taking a hostile action to people trying to help each other with the most participated event (rare hunting) on Mechagon is really helpful.

This thread has more spam than the addons.

It does bother me, this is why I have the trade chat turned off.

That is your opinion if you dislike the addon. But it isn’t any abuse, and it isn’t spamming. I dunno, maybe you should focus more of the game and pay less attention to the chat.

I didn’t know there was a trade chat in Mechagon or Nazjatar.

  1. Then make a suggestion to the devoloper. Don’t come to the forums, make a thread accusing of it being against the ToS while at the same time, false flagging people for helping others out with information.
  2. And something like this ever happened, how would everyone know of the channel?

But you still haven’t answered the question:
Where in the ToS does this addon actually break when it is not causing any harm, or breaking the ToS?

I’m done. You just said “trad chat” as the only go-to for your logic to this entire discussion. Then you said “that’s your opinion” not realizing how much you’re trying to enforce your opinion here ?

You have providing zero logical feedback to a compromise or resolution or any other helpful information. You are clearly here to argue for the sake of it and provide nothing to the table of discussion. But don’t worry, trade chat was your go-to. /SlowCap

Goodbye.

“Hello, I can’t read what this person said so I go ahead an…” How about grow up. I am only replying to what you have said.

And you see, you can’t even answer one question. Which means, you’re actually trolling.

Yep, 100% here to argue for arguing

When you’re willing to “provide” insightful help to this channel, I or many other will never take you serious.

Until then, bye bye!

Not typically part of the job description of a Developer. The day that happens would be the day they walk out.

If you’re calling this an argument, how on earth are you giving up so easily? Oh wait, is that because you have been proven wrong?

Here is some insight for you… These addons are not spamming and therefore not against ToS.

What’s to stop those same 10 people manually typing out a rare’s health? Would it still be considered spam if it wasn’t automated?

Its the difference between getting a reminder to vote once before the election, and getting a robo call by every single candidate 3-4 times a week reminding you to vote.

The content is helpful, but you’re still not going to appreciate how it’s being presented.

IF they were spamming, Blizzard would have already set up things that broke them by now.

I mean, Badboy had some functionality broke recently. The addon still functions, but certain parts of it were broken. Because Blizzard decided it was an issue.

And considering that mechagon is all about the grinding and farming, you think they’re going to break an addon that encourages people to stay there? Especially since it is not spamming by any stretch of the word.

Spamming would be an addon going

“rare up”
“rare up”
“rare up”

like a dozen times and its the same rare.

It puts up a message when someone mouses over it or starts a fight with it. The addon does not update the status on the mob, though some do update the status once the mob is dead.

So, two posts to a channel over the course of maybe a minute or so. Yeah, that’s not exactly what one would call “spamming”.

Yeah, I agree. In fact, I love the addons it helps me get more rare kills in my limited time.

I also use one of them and if it was indeed spamming it would pop a message every time a new person joined the brawl against a single rare.

I don’t see that happening. Which means someone did a good job of coding it to check and go “has this message gone out recently?” to try and AVOID spamming.

Whenever I see these threads, I wonder what exactly people DO want to see in chat.

Like…rare announces are spam, guild recruitment is spam, selling carries is spam…ok so what is this spam bloacking or distracting from? Strangers trolling about US politics?

But your OP was about a rare call out add, like we had on the timeless isle during MoP. Gold spammers are a different issue.

I also told you I manually call out the location, am I spamming?

You also referred to trade chat, which you can’t use in Mech. It’s called out in the general chat of the zone the user is in.

Are you flustered, or just realizing the ridiculousness of your complaint. I have never seen anyone gripe about players actually helping one another in a MMO. People will never cease to make me /facepalm, and you just joined the club.

This thread and that other one are packed full of people telling you you’re wrong.

Get a clue, Stu.
