Which is practically useless as it doesn’t tell people where the rare is or what % health it’s at.
This is the most amount of use these chat channels have seen since the expansion launched.
I welcome it and don’t find it creates “spam”.
If you have a suggestion to improve how these addons function, how about trying to reach out to the individual addon authors first? Instead of asking Blizz to outright break the stuff they worked hard on making for everyone.
Common courtesy. Attempt to speak to them directly before you try and go over their heads seeking to get their stuff banned.
that greatly depends on the server you’re on and how many are using the addon announcer
results may very…
Random question, would y’all consider it spam if a single message came from 11 different people? Because I always thought of it as multiple messages coming from 1 person.
They would, absolutely. They don’t understand that 11 different people sharing the same message isn’t spam. And if Blizzard felt the addon was spamming, they would’ve broken it (and haven’t).
NO addon should be allowed to spam/send any information to the games normal chat channels, period. It should be making its own channels.
You are right that no addon should be allowed to spam - and this one doesn’t. It sends messages ONE at a time. If 3 people are using it, 3 messages are sent. If 1 person is using it, 1 message is sent. By Blizzard’s definition this is not spamming. This is further backed up by the fact they haven’t broken it.
Going to strongly disagree when it comes to people announcing rares. There are specific toys, mounts etc et al that I am searching for and it is wonderful that people are willing to announce that a specific rare is up. Also I would rather see that then most of the garbage that rolls through /1 when I’m out in the world… I don’t need to know that your ‘blank’ itches, or that you don’t shower regularly… To me that is more disgusting than players helping players.
Ironic.
Names that reference well known people, characters, brands, places, or icons (For example: Britneyspears, Austinpowers, Mcdonalds, Georgewashington, Newyork)
Because:
Kim Hyun-ah, better known by the mononym Hyuna, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper and model. She debuted as a member of the girl group Wonder Girls in February 2007. [Wikipedia]
Badboy is a lovely tool to filter out the garbage. It simple doesn’t display any message with keywords you put in.
It’s how I avoid seeing all the pointless drivel in trade chat.
Hate to break it to ya, but your dead wrong.
Spamming would be if a single player kept posting the same message over and over. So if a single players add posted once, that is not spam.
Your out to break a very helpful add on, not to mention some folks, me, call out manually to get folks there. And if you don’t like it, /leave channel, problem solved.
A player reporting a rare spawn as well as it’s coordinates is the opposite of spam. If the player repeatedly reported it over and over, then that would be considered spam. Like someone non-stop advertising their guild in general.
If three players report a rare spawn, that’s still not spam.
The solution to your problem is already in the game. Leave general chat. Or put it in it’s own chat window.
If you want to communicate with people in general chat I fear you will need a time machine.
There are conversations fairly often on my server. It just depends on the server.
Serious question: Do people really watch the chat channels that much?
I don’t know, I tend to ignore everything except guild chat anymore. Every zone chat is like Barrens Chat these days.
If people want to know when rares are around, why not just get the Rares addon yourself?
I have ElvUI filter those out of my chat for me. But I certainly will not complain about it.
Right? I even make entirely new chat boxes just to hide trade and general chat away, since im on a full pop server you kinda have to do that.
I haven’t seen that addon announcement in Mechagon or didn’t really notice. I don’t look at the chat window much. Nobody says anything worthwhile but rare announcements would be useful. I should get that addon so people will show up when I say, “big fat spider up”.
Really? You think an auto-feature in the game automatically spamming a channel by multiple players is not against the games TOS? Interesting.
So what I just read by what you wrote: “I like it how it is, I will ignore all logic to keep what I like, period.”
/ignored now
- Couple of things here:
a) Spam: One person sending multiple of the same message over and over
b) Flooding: Multiple people sending multiples of the same message over and over.
Huge Difference between both! - Second of all, where in the ToS does this addon actually break when it is not causing any harm, or breaking the ToS.
You agree’d with the TOS abuse but then worked your way around it to fit your logic.
Not well done I might say.
