In og tbc, the devs said they weren’t doing dual spec for the following:
“There should be real investment into choosing a spec and reducing the cost or making it easy to do simple swaps would make the whole purpose moot.”
They point out the main issue I have with no dual spec in the original post:
“the argument about people respeccing for Arena teams makes the assumption that everyone is somehow running in one and thus needs multiple respecs. This is not true. Not everyone is respeccing between PvE and PvP and it’s not a majority of players that need to.”
When they eventually added dual spec this was the reason given:
“ this was a great way to increase the flexibility available to players and encourage them to take part in more aspects of the game.
To use just one example, some players like to participate in both raids and Arenas, which is awesome behavior that we want to promote.
But, there are some talents which are more useful in one part of the game than another. Currently, players have to pay respec costs and go through the process of setting up the desired talent spec and action bars whenever they switch.
The new system makes this a much more logical process, saving on time and cost and allowing players to easily move from one aspect of the game to another.”
Seems like the pvp/arena vs pve spec problem they were trying to fix by adding dual spec is an issue in tbc right now.
If Blizzard would just give a definitive answer to this, people wouldn’t make so many. Unfortunately, since they won’t say anything either way, people are just going to keep posting about it until something happens.
That’s how we got HvH and the fix to Feral Druids, after all.
Just what we needed another thread about something that will come out with wrath of the lich king. When will u people realize that dual spec was a major feature of the xpac wrath of the lich king.
Did u see any tbc features introduced into classic? Why do u think blizzard is going to introduce a major feature of the xpac wrath of the lich king into the burning crusade.
If u can’t handle tbc without dual spec than go play new world.
Oh and even with dual spec it wouldn’t attract more people to pvp. Either u want to pvp or you don’t. S2 is out which would mean new players are already behind.
You don’t think people having to pay 100g to queue some arenas is making casual players stay away?
I have had several nights were friends said they won’t queue because they don’t want to spend 100g to respec for an hour of arenas and then have to respec again for raid the next night.
There is already complaining about s1 gear not being available. U introduce dual spec the complaining will just change to that and the new people being rolled by teams that lose on purposeto get to the lower brackets to steam roll those teams.
It’s a player issue not a blizzard issue. Dual spec was mentioned in tbc and they said no. Now in 2021 players want to be entitled to things that weren’t in the game in 2007. Why because they are raid loggers and don’t want to farm gold to do all the features of the game.
Yes blizz said:
we understand it sucks to switch between pve and pvp specs but it’s not the majority of players that have to do it so it’s not a big deal
Then they eventually added it and the same blizz person said:
“The new system makes this a much more logical process, saving on time and cost and allowing players to easily move from one aspect of the game to another”
